- The MAYOR OF LONDON'S annual ST GEORGE'S DAY festival is turning London's most iconic TRAFALGAR SQUARE red and white in honour of our patron saint.
Taking place on 23 April, St George's Day marks the anniversary of the death of England's patron saint around 303 AD.
In 1348 KING EDWARD III, adopted St George to be a special protector of the ENGLISH, with celebrations on 23 April to mark his death.
The festival celebrates everything brilliant about ENGLAND and being ENGLISH.
A feast of six hours of delights, with an exciting main stage programme of traditional and contemporary acts, alongside family activities, roaming entertainers, quests, market stalls and an ENGLISH STREET FOOD market.
A DRAGON is roaming the square which, according to a legend, ST GEORGE had decapitated a dragon with his sword.

St. George's Day is celebrated on 23 April annually, and is recognised as England’s national day. His name means 'earth-worker' - that is, farmer - and his feast day of 23 April is in the spring, when crops are starting to grow.
