Possibly the best time team. Sandy and Tony going at each other verbally is THE BEST...... LOVE THE BOTH! GREAT EPISODE.....
Love that intro there where Phil was meeting his digging partner what a wonderful example discrete British humor
This is the best thing on UA-cam. In America we dont have this kind of archeology.
Episode 73 (Series 8, Episode 12): Three Tales of Canterbury, Aired March 25, 2001
I can't be the only American addicted to this show. Another of my faves is History Cold Case but it has far less episodes 😔
I'm an American and I'm addicted to this show! 😁❤️
Fully addicted American here! ❤
I've been watching all of these old episodes from home here in East Texas!
Mississippi here. A conversation I had the other night with hubs after a really rough day-
I don't know whether to watch TimeTeam or videos about death (I'm an end of life/death positive doula) to relax tonight.
He said "why not both?"
He was right.
"What do you see?"
"Wonderful things!"
Me: *gets hit right in the feels* Someone knows his Carnarvon.
My goodness me, this episode must be decades old, and Mick passed away some years ago. Nevertheless, still very interesting and absorbing.I particularly enjoyed the Greyfriars segment, I visit the Chapel whenever I am in Canterbury ( from NZ ), the island is now a carefully maintained English meadow, and is a haven of peace and solitude in a very busy tourist city.
Early 2000s I would say :)
Kia Ora!
Thank you so much, chaps and chapesses, for sharing this wonderful history!
Please keep up the good work!👍🏻✌❤
i,m watching!! i,m back in the 90 thies! ;-) greets from Drenthe Nethelands
45:16 Brilliant! (Tony and Mick in Victors perception)
never seen this episode before ....fantasico
Lovely episode. Enjoyed it.
Lovely to see Robin in this episode.
Time team is captivating
What Season and Episode number is this one ?
Found the answer : according to the upload from Zaaijer, it's S08 E11
Although, according to Wikipedia, it may be S08 E12

Ahahaha Liza is so lovely!
When did they change the first face on the arrow head to look like Phil. I don't think it always did. It seem to me it was more generic when the first used this opening.
Oooh, two Sandy episodes in a row! Lucky me.
I really hope this is meant sarcastically...
@@RobKoelman No, not everyone is as nasty and snotty as you. Shocker! I enjoy her.
@@PtolemyJones Of course you do. Now go find someone who cares.
@@DavidS1164 you use UA-cam comments to discuss things you care about? How sad.
@@PtolemyJones How unkind. You probably didn’t realize but this remark wasn’t fun to me. Made me even feel foolish. So feel free to apologize.
Once again, TONY wins the whitest legs contest! 😳😳😳
Franciscans (Greyfriars) are not monks, they are friars and they live in a friary or a convent, not a monastery, They follow the Rule of Saint Francis. There are also the Blackfriars (Dominicans), they are not monks either. That means they can go outside and preach and do pastoral work. Benedictine monks and nuns follow the Rule of Saint Benedict and so they are cloistered, although there are exceptions, for example, when they might need to travel to study or that they are in charge of a parish or they run a school. They're the ones who live in a monastery - which can be either an abbey or a priory.
Thank you, that was really interesting information. I did wonder if the Franciscan monks today also practice kindness to animals as St Francis did. He set a wonderful example to all.
@@justacrocodile9486 They are not monks.
At 24:57 did an F-word slip through? Or is it my hearing!!!
Tony must have been going through an Eminem phase.
Hey fellow nerds! Any tips on how to stream the show? Cant find it on any of the major services here in norway..
You can find all 20 seasons on 2 channels, Reijer Zaaijer and Fillask. Have fun!
Amazon Prime as well.

Hi....my name is...my name is...shicka shicka Tony Robinson.
did Tony just out Stew?
take that pot to the Met AFIS bureau and see if you can find the bloke.. No Phil? no wonder his pal Mick is so confused..;-)
What was that Liza lady thinking wearing a skirt to walk around archeological sites? Seriously.
Did anyone ever hear why Tony had his hair blonde?
He's an actor and it was for a part.
What's with Tony's hair? Missing his long haired hippie days, I guess.
Who’s the woman with her nose glued shut
Mr. Horton is on alot of different shows, what on earth now.....
Love the Mick vintage Time teams but find the "celebrity" guests extremely irritating and unneccessary.
Good grief that is a fine ass woman.
Blonde Tony? Weird lol
The belligerent half-brother intrinsically escape because gosling perioperaively lighten until a naive sun. large, succinct foxglove
Yeah but do Blondes have more fun or not?
Love Both Phil and Tony, and the way they have always played off one another. Personally I wish there were possibly more sites of Viking burials or where Vikings later settled after invading..
that wish will be true
How could they have ever cancelled this wonderful educational show?? It is my absolute favorite.
I think that 20 years and Mick's death discouraged them.
@@baskervillebee6097 I think it was costing over 200 000 pounds an episode towards the end too.
The plane crash disfigured the ones it didn't kill

scripted reality TV? meh
Agreed, I return again and again to this series.
Tony was going for that Eminem look back then I guess. Lol love this show.
Giggle 😃
Eminem ✔️ Billy Idol? Annie Lennox? 😆😆 🎼🎤
I love Phil! “Here’s the more modern stuff, the 1800s” 🤣. He’s not wrong.
Isn't he great!?
@@Seamonkey555 so many times I just fantasize about being able to sit with them at the pub after a day of excavations and listen to them talk.
On a trip to England we were all thrilled to stay at a 17th century coaching inn. The bus driver grunted, "It's ONLY 17th century."

Gotta love the teasing amongst you Brits! Edit to add this is one of several U.K. television shows I am enjoying in 2020 and all the shows in the U.S. are reality (please) shows about real housewives of somewhere or in some pawnshop.
Totally agree with you!
Agree. US TV is the worst.
Real Housewife Pawn Stars is going to be the best thing to ever happen to television
Tony with his Rob halford haircut. Phil wearing cut off Jean shorts. This was like a Dr who episode
Miss you Mick
I'm addicted to the show, just not Phil's shorts. lol
I am addicted to the show and ignore the shorts, great stuff!
Phil thinks he got great legs or he needed more shorts
@@AliciaSmith1983 he totally DOES have great legs!
😂😂
I love me some Phil, and archaeology.
He IS a character and i love him for bwing who he is. (Some might not but I do)
We've located king Arthur's Camelot, and as usual, we have just 3 days to find it. 😶
24:35 Jim the Medieval pottery maker has a really fun Instagram if anyone is interested in seeing his work. instagram.com/trinitycourtpottery/ (Actually it's he and his wife)
I love Victor's drawing of the two men (Tony and ?) as novice and prior.
Mick. Victor often used the Time Team members faces for his drawings. Took me awhile to realize it.
I love how much the British population seems interested in this stuff.
Well of course, it's their history ☺️
@@mary_bobespinoza6205 That isn't enough to make people interested, sadly.
I was in Germany when they were doing a dig under a church dating back to the Middle Ages.
I was fascinated, but most people just grumbled at having to walk around the tape. The archaeologists really seemed pleased that I was so curious.
Man, this is the stuff I dreamed of exploring and finding as a kid…living in America, fossils, arrowheads/stone axes and rusted modern artifacts are about all you get…great views and hiking are 99% of what you’ll find though.
Exactly! Watching this makes me so jealous, people are always finding roman pottery in their gardens, & all I've found is a buffalo nickel
The hair they discovered is the same colour as mine. I guess i should take my head out of the ground now. Unless i want it redder. 😁
Thank you. Please keep these HD episodes and specials coming. Greetings from Denmark
Sandi Toksvig being in this episode is a treat
I2:30 I dropped my cell phone through that very fence into the river below and the nice nan who was operating the boats below fished it out for me. Luckily it was waterproof. I'm from Levin in New Zealand.
Awesome to be able to visit somewhere that the historical monuments are mostly in stone or brick, & therefore many so well-preserved! I love seeing the old Māori pā (hill-fort) sites here, but sadly due to being built from wood & flax, they mostly just leave very few visible remains...? (The surviving bone, stone & wooden carvings are amazing though!)
Thank you guys so much for uploading these classic episodes of one of my favourite tv shows.
I love the ones that the "Model", who adds nothing but inane questions, is NOT there. Apparently BBC wanted her when the ratings dropped, and Tony said No.
I’m also convinced that the artist must be an empath or otherwise psychically sensitive because his drawings are always so evocative of the energies of the past that remain.
His drawings give the findings the breathe of life in my opinion. He makes the archaeology real.
Especially loved part 2 on the kiln, fascinating and not something you would see every day. Thank you
Just discovered the show this week and I am addicted. Lisa fits well with them.
She would have been an excellent addition. Smart, lively sense of humour *and* engaged.
At 45.14. Ah Victor, what a sense of humour. Tony and Mick as Friars. I''ve broken copyright and taken a screen shot to keep.
When was this first broadcast? (Maybe 2000 based on tile MM) That info should be in the description. So good to see the Team in their prime :)
Brisdad53 Thank you for that! That information shouldn’t be so hard to excavate🌜
3:07 love that reverse car on the bottom right, guess they just reversed the shot
Sandi Toksvig - Life Styles of the Rich and Famous
45:15 Brother Tony and Abbot Mick. Don't know who the other monk is.
I've noticed a lot of that in Victor's art.
One oddity I've observed is on the "Time Team" the women tend to be bigger than the men...Not relevant, just an observation.
What’s up with Phil’s daisy dukes?😂
It's summer in England, can't you tell? 😏😄🤣🤣🤣
Phil has forever rocked his booty shorts, every summer tbh.
They grow on you lol.
He wouldn't be the same without them.
Definitely lives to the beat of his own drum, Phil does :') he's a special man 💜💜💜 lol
Lol she's right Sir Tony! You need a new hair dresser ;)
I like it!
@@kimjohnson6238 So do I. Sets off his lovely dark eyes and he looks even more handsome then ever. He is so funny too, " you shameless hussey" to Cadenza crouching next to the digger. Good old Tony getting into the whole friary sentiments, love him!
Is there a version of this but in france Germany spain Italy and so on?
The "geophyz" as Tony calls it, in Part III (the Cloister) looks very much like "geofuzz"...
"Geo fuzz" made me think of the rock police now I suspect they will join my dream police to interrupt my sleep.
I've been binging Qi and Time Team, and
*BAM*
Crossover episode!
Pardon my ignorance, but what is "Qi?"
@@angelapiccolella1491 Sandi Toksvig is the current host of a panel show called "Qi."
@@greenefieldmann3014 I like Sandi but really Stephen Fry was just the best presenter ever. His wonderful sense of humour is unique.
I bet Tony was an Eminem fan. lol
why does he look like eminem
Looks like Tony took the weekend off. Only appears in the first scene. Replaced by the annoying voiced lady.
oops he did come back briefly later
well done time team, now i dont have to watch in a tiny window in the corner of the screen, i hate that
It's frankly embarrassing how long it took me to realise they were saying "Friary" not "Fryer-y" and they were looking for a religious complex, not a medieval chip shop.
Metal Cat: yes the exact words uttered upon looking into king Tut tomb. I recognized them right way.
9:05 Bit of a mis-caption, that should be 3rd-4th century AD, not 3 - 4 AD!
WHAT AN AWESOME SHOW DISCOVERING THE KILN/ CONGRATS TO ALL THE STAFF OF TIME TEAM THAT MAKE THIS HAPPEN
Wasn't it just fantastic watching the kiln being revealed? How amazing that it was complete, what a discovery, that it should have remained as it was for so long. I find myself exclaiming with pleasure and delight when something like this is discovered. Time Team is just the best television programme, it really is. Leaves me wishing I were able to take part in these digs. So much still waiting to be unearthed even today.
Tony became a slim shady imitator
ha ha Tony looks like Eminem!
Was that kiln ever fully excavated ??? That would have been a fantastic show piece of Roman times.
In USA it is difficult to convince people to give pottery pieces to museums.
what keeps happening to Tony's hair?
Brit in an Americans body… a combo to confuse everyone! Still hopeful there’s a match for me out there.
I'm pretty sure that the one lady in a vest moonlights as a professor at hogwarts School of witchcraft and wizardry
45:15 - Tony and Mick??
Haha, looks like them
I go to sleep with the English accent. And I learn about the Britts.
I admire Phil's shapely legs❣️👍
Love this show.
I thought Tony's hair was completely white and that there were actaully many more episodes.. then I realized it was bleach blond.
..kinda like it. It's much better than that old goatee he had.
Both the blonde hair and the goatee were for comedy acting roles he had in parallel with time team work
I'm just wondering how long Mick took every morning getting his manes in order. Lots of product I suspect.
Kinda reminds me of emine in his youth but 30 years older
I like the goatee, but then I have one to hide a bit of a burn scar
Love the show Phil is a crazy character. He is so damn cool 😎
Every *Time Team, Time Team Special* and most *Time Team America* programmes have been posted on YT by *Fillask, Reijer Zaaijer* and this, the _official_ *Time Team* channel. Try *DigVentures* too.
Do you know why individuals were allowed to put all these shows online without copyright claims?
@@Blackadder75
Because where a valid copyright exists the copyright holders allow it or are unaware of it. If a holder of a _valid_ copyright objects the YT take the video down.
I make a point of only watching the official version. They are going to film new episodes, so I want to support them the way I can
@@johannesofie777
For many, even most, things that's a good attitude. But sometimes I want to see something and I'm prepared to pay _but_ I can't do this in the UK.
In the case of TT many digs weren't officially available in 🇬🇧 and others weren't officially available _anywhere._ So the digs unofficially posted to YT, which were _all_ of them, were my only solution.
Phil will need to be careful his meat and two vege dont pop out those shorts
As a dane who learned sandy is danish, i must admit i have a new favrorite dane
She can't be Danish. I've never seen one that short. :)
She must be descended from the Viking raiders that plagued England for 300 years.
@@Baltic_Hammer6162 average height of women is 5'5"
Thank you.
Where I live Arizona USA the ground is caliche and rock. I don't think those perfect verticals and horizontals could be made here. You'd be frequently distracted by using time digging out big rocks. What do you do in that case?
Diane Greene In your part of the world you don’t have the same depth of stratification. In the UK there’s centuries of continuous occupation in the same locations. In most of North America the population was much more nomadic.
@@esthermcafee5293 There is a museum here which was a dig of many acres of a prehistoric agricultural city - it was on a river and there's a limit to how far you want to carry water - and someone told me the archaeologists worked by locating canals and roads then using a sort of strip mining from-the-top-down procedure. With finesse, I mean. I'm always amazed when I watch a British program and see from arial video how thickly settled Britain is. Tx, Esther.
Is there a reason they do not wear rubber or vinyl gloves when digging about in a cess pit?
Aside from the sheer age would mean toxins are no longer present?
