Hi Jan A very pretty card and I particularly like this style of card. Love the idea of using the clips and tweezers to hold the ribbon for bow tying, as I have difficulty doing bows. Also love the wedding invitation idea. I wish I had bought punches instead of dies. So much quicker and easier. Thanks for sharing. Chrissy
Great card. I usually put a small strip of db side tape on back of ribbon to hold in place at back of card and small glue dot to hold knot in place as I tie bow. Stay safe x
Once again another lovely make and the extra instructions for a wedding card, this I will keep in mind for any sort of invitation for when we can once again enjoy getting together
Thank you Jan. I love this design of fold for the card. I will give it a try. Also thank you for the tips with the bows and blending with the markers pens. Lovely colours too.
Absolutely gorgeous and new fun design for me, Jan!!! My card-making friends have labeled me as "meticulous" because I'm always the slowest student in our classes and it frustrates me!!!! I feel so fortunate to feel similar to you in all of my card-making habits!!! Thank you so much for sharing all of your fantastic tips and beautiful cards!!! God Bless You!!!! Hugs, Karen 😘
Many thanks, @@karenwrenn1836. It's not a race, it's your hobby to be enjoyed! My hubby often says to me "You don't do simple, do you!" I think sometimes he says it out of very slight frustration because I take my time! It's nice to know I'm not alone! 😀
Thnx Jan, we operate in exactly the same mode!!! I don’t feel alone anymore!!! I hope you can someday get relief from migraines, so sorry you suffer from them. Wedding Invites are gorgeous!!! Also, I made your Snowflake Spinner Card and the recipient loved it!!! Then I made Birthday-theme version. A tiny present with ribbon spun around!!! Thank you for the excellent inspiration!!! Blessings 😘!
Hi Jan, gorgeous card, love it. I sometimes get ‘fluffy’ edges on my card from my trimmer, I thought it was that my blades needed renewing, but I’ve only had my trimmer a few months, so I didn’t think it could be blunt blades already, but then it cuts ok for a while, it only happens now and again, very puzzling lol. You make great cards Jan and you teach very well. Thank you so much for sharing your creativity and inspiration with us. Stay safe xx
Hi, Jackie. One thing I find helps for a while is cleaning out the cutting track. First I use the little palette knife on the Take Your Pick tool and run that along the track - making sure the blade is kept at an angle. That is, the front of the knife touching the left-hand side of the track and the back edge of the knife touching the right-hand side. Then I use an AIR SPRAY, spraying all along the track. The one I have at the moment is called ebuyer.com, HFC Free Air Duster. It's used for computers, printers, telephones and keyboards. NOTE: if using on electrical equipment, the electricity/power supply must be switched off. I hope this helps to extend the life of your blade a bit longer. xx
Hi Jan! Love this card and your wedding invitations are Beautiful! I am definitely going to try this technique! Thank you so much for sharing! Love your videos. Stay safe!’
Great card style Jan, I love them. Thank you for the added tuition on wedding invitation cards, I have learned something else this morning. Thanks Jan x
Hi, Sharon. I have a couple of samples of incomplete invites and one for a wedding I was invited to. I've been asked if I'd make a video showing how I made this kind of invite. If and when I do, I'll sort out these to show. xx
My heart goes out to you, Maureen. My migraines were bad when I was younger. Now they are aura migraines which means my vision goes, and my speech sometimes becomes slurred as if I've been drinking - I'm teetotal!! But my sight comes back in about half an hour - sometimes with a headache and sometimes not. xx
I have a cold and turned on You Tube to pass time and I'm sooooooo happy I did, I love this card design so pretty and so perfect. But I'm curious what papers etc you used for sample you displayed with the cute dog. I found the set in the catalog but not sure what cardstock etc you used. But back to the card you made in the demo I'm going to make it for my Granddaughters birthday sooo pretty. Thanks again for sharing your talents and great idea.
Many thanks, Marge. For the dog card I used Whisper White and Real Red Cardstock. The Designer Series Paper is from Playful Pets. The stamp set is Pampered Pets and there are matching dies - including one dog die and a cat die that will die-cut stamped images as well as two images on the DSP. xx
Our postal service in the US had tons of problems over the holidays, and we didn’t have Brexit to blame! I mailed my Christmas cards on Dec. 11th and some didn’t get to destinations until after the new year ( and they weren’t even going that far!).
Another lovely idea for a card, thank you Jan ; great video as always, and I learned how to tie a bow, always have problems with my bows :) but should be fine now. Stay safe,
That square eraser that stampin up used to sell would have worked on the frayed or fuzzy edges. Just hold the cardstock stiff and run the eraser across it lightly.
Hi, Diane. The straight cut oval on the new punch is virtually the same size as the old punch which is marked as 1 3/4" x 7/8". The old scallop oval measures 2" x 1 1/8" and the new frilly edged punch is 2 1/8" x 1 1/4". Personally, I think the larger frilly oval makes a very nice change to the scallop design although there isn't much of a difference in sizes. It's a matter of choice and preference. I hope this helps. xx
Don't trim away the furry bits left behind by your trimmer. Use a nail file or fine grade sand paper block and run it across the edges. It will take the furry bits away without damaging your card stock paper. Tried it myself and it works very nicely. I can empathize with your migraine disorder; I have it, too. Feel better.
