When he comes forward for the icicle stalagmites, you can use the earth ability instead of the wind. If you charge and then spam it you can guard all the damage from the icicles and do a good amount to the boss as well.
It always bothered me that they couldn't come up with something better than the generic stock "splat" sound effect for those dark portals summoned during the energy tennis part.
They are very easy to avoid, here's how to do it: Make sure you always Dash during this. When you see he starts casting the first Red Orb, run either left or right while being as far to the bottom of the screen as possible. The moment the first Red Orb is about to hit you, double-jump (while going left or right). Then run to the other side (right or left) and double-jump (while going right or left). Turn around, and repeat until he ends with the double Red Orb cast.
That is not quite right. Please observe the hands as they cast the orbs. You will notice that they move up and down slightly. When you approach the side, you need to double jump over the incoming orb from the hand when it is in its lower position.
cool thanks for posting. took a guy i was watching on twitch a month to beat this guy and i missed the ending after the galbalan got his face kicked in
I know, that's what I meant. I don't see any red orbs here. But, after finishing the game myself recently I notice it's just the random-factor. Sometimes you get them, sometimes you don't.
Man, you got lucky with the pattern of lasers and attack on Phase 2. Not to discredit your skill of course, this is amazing! But it just seems like he'll always do the flame sweep right when i'm in the middle of jumping between lasers, making it impossible to not get hit.
I'm stuck on Galbalan, same level and difficulty. That last phase is just insane, I don't have much trouble with the first two but the pinwheel novas mess me up badly.
That might work, but that's not how I do it. I don't even watch the hands, I just keep moving left and right, bottom screen and turning when reaching the edge as I continously doublejump over the orbs. Don't get hit, can't even get hit that way.
You find out what they are in Ys 6. They are essentially constructs made from a powerful metal called Emelas, which is found on the Canaan Islands. The humans back then tried to rival the power of the Winged Gods by creating White/Black Emelas but only ended up making the other colors along with Ash. The Ash was highly unstable and it was used to create Galbalans. One of the Galbalans made its way to the Redmont region where the Winged God Genos sealed it on Genos Island. Bishop Nicholas (you face him before this boss) awakened it from slumber and you then use Genos' ancient sword to KO it, which allows Chester to blow up the island with the Essences and Genos Sword to slay it for good.
After played the Genesis versions and seeing the other versions including Falcom's Oath in Felghana... Heck, Ys, what happened!? The bosses patterns change! As if all of the ports are actually remakes!
Zazon Zenzy Going from the 2-D sidescrolling playing field to the full blown variation of 3-D we have in OiF sort of required for a drastic change in pace when it came to combat, especially in bosses, or else it'd be boring for them to do the same slow paced fight in the original Ys III game. Going from the Galbalan in 3 then playing Oath in Falghana is a welcome change imo.
From Wanderers of Ys to Oath in Felghana is very true. I meant each iterations of Wanderers of Ys. From the Turbografx-16 one, to Genesis, to SNES, even Taito's PS2 one. All of them are 2D sidescrollers and there are some notable differences on the patterns, like, no need to break the arms first or homing shots instead of normal dropping bullets.
Zazon Zenzy Ohhh, then yea, that's true too xD The SNES one was also very notoriously annoying because you had to be spot on with your hits too, and that was frustrating to all all -.-
I played through on hard mode and my jaw dropped when I saw him take out the hands in like, 5 hits to push to the ice attack. It took at least a full combo and a half in boost mode while playing in hard.
Taking no damage on the final boss is an achievement.
When he comes forward for the icicle stalagmites, you can use the earth ability instead of the wind. If you charge and then spam it you can guard all the damage from the icicles and do a good amount to the boss as well.
You are so perfect, I'm glad people like you exist in this world
Why falcom ever got rid of this engine to move onto the ys7 engine is beyond me. This is the best ys could ever get.
I wish they'd bring the jump back
Even though I loved Ys Seven, I really liked the jump from the previous titles
TreizeX They brought jump back for YS PS4 I can't wait man, WOOHOO
popimpi YS on ps4 ?!?!? What?
Fantomas612 Ys 8 is for PS4 and Vita
NO!
4:40 taking tennis to whole new level XD
There is a term for that: Dead Man's Volley
on god this boss is really hard and when i saw this, it gives me hope to end this
elena in tentacles... LOL

Is this normal mode? I'm missing the orb attacks in the first phase in this video.
I only see the firewave and ice attacks here.

Even on normal mode he use the orb attack.

7:50 kidney punch!
Забить его no damage на самом деле несложно, главное пережить 2 фазу, от остального уворачиваться несложно. И да, босс эпичен
oh my god I didn't know you could hit the hands while they're draining your magic. whoops.
I'm stuck on Galbalan, same level and difficulty. That last phase is just insane, I don't have much trouble with the first two but the pinwheel novas mess me up badly.

So are Galbalans like mechs from some alternate Gundam dimension or something?

I can´t beat him on normal

There is a Ps Vita game that is coming out.
Thanks. I'll try this, if I get to him on hard mode.
Is the Ys series still continuing to this day? I can never tell what the most recent one is.
Monstrum Nox in 2019. With a chance for an Esterian/Celcetian from Ys I/II to return, as far as info goes.
next up nightmare? lol
He always use them against me. It's frustrating.
TBH, this boss is honestly not as bad as the fights getting to it. Only Phase 3 sucks ass.
567hrs of play - no damage
dis guy is not human! omg so dam cool no dmg~
Well... This wasn't that impressive for me because I can see this is way easier on normal difficulty. Nice work, though =).
