/* ---- VIDEO INFORMATION ---- */
Welcome to the Heavy Spoilers show, I'm your host Paul and unfortunately saul goodman things must come to an end as not only is Better Call Saul now over but the crap puns on the show are too. Throughout this video we're gonna be breaking it all down, going through what happens and also the easter eggs in it.
Also if you wanna support the show we've just launched a Better Call Paul T-shirt over at our shop Zero edition which will be linked below. If you need a spoiler then you chumps know who to call and I hope you head over there to pick up this limited run t-shirt, it really helps us out, means I can buy myself a golden toilet and it helps videos like this get made.
Now last week saw Marion discovering the truth about Gene through finding Saul's old commercials. Even though she ended up calling the police she still probably liked and subscribed and this led to Jimmy going on the run once more. The preview had us focusing on his ditched car from earlier in the series and over the top of this we could hear him desperately trying to get himself a new identity.
-
Now they sort of spliced two scenes together for that with the hoover call almost being a sort of What If that we never actually see out. However the car is there which is very important to how we open things up.
Though Gene gets caught a lot faster than we thought, this idea of identity is very important to bear in mind as we finally see Jimmy rest on one and for once he does the right thing.
The colour also gave a clue to what time period we'd be in and this is actually where we begin everything.
Now we open with a flashback to Season Bagman and catch Mike and Jimmy in the desert. This was one of the standout episodes in the series and this entry very much feels like a time machine trip with us getting several cameos such as Mike, Marie, Walt, Bill Oakley, Chuck and a couple of big characters.
Time machines are a major talking point of the entry and we see Jimmy talking about them with Mike and Walt before he picks up the book by HG Wells when he's with Chuck. This opening is a great way to start us off and after finding a water tank both Jimmy and Mike discuss regrets, the future and it's basically just an introspective look at the characters. I love how Jimmys water has a suspiciously yellow liquid in it and it shows how desperate that he is. These time machine conversations that appear throughout all take place at pivotal points in his life and they're very much intersections in which we see how his regrets change.

Breaking Bad Character Endings:
Walter: *The Bad Ending*
Jesse: *The Good Ending*
Saul: *The Bittersweet Ending*
I would rather say:
Walter: The Bad Ending
JesseThe Good Ending
Saul: The Ugly Ending
Man has the three ends for drug dealers.
The ones who die. Those who must escape and live a new life.
And those who will be caught and imprisoned forever.
Dang, saul really did face all of the consequences of his actions.
I see Walter's ending as bittersweet. He did manage to give the money to his family, he killed Jack and his crew and set Jesse free. Probably more sweet then bitter not that i think about it more.
Saul the Breaking Bad DLC ending.
@@markomalic9813 no it’s pretty bitter he finally realize he ruin his family irreparably and now his son and daughter will live in the shadow of a drug lord forever his wife brother is dead and he only got a barrel of money left 11 million down the dran isn’t “sweet” him finally being honest was the only thing he could give his family after everything well that and the barrel then after all the shit with the nazi he dies alone in a meth lab more bitter than anything.
The quote from Chuck was another teary moment for me…
“If you don’t like where you’re heading, there is no shame in going back and changing your path”
So many tears this episode. This moment and the one where Jimmy and Kim look at each other in the court room after he confesses to everything had me ballin my eyes out.
I still absolutely hate Chuck.
@@megashillyshally Lol agreed, it was really hard to like Chuck 😂
How do y'all cry to this stuff lol
@@zapify6999 Why not? It's an emotionally resonant scene & they obviously connected to the characters more than you. Yk everybody's not the same with art right? And adding a "lol" at the end doesn't make you look superior dude.
Remember when Chuck told us..."He'll never change"...well guess what, he did.
Yes but at what cost? He lost everything.
@@SG-pc4sv sometimes that’s what it takes
He changed 💃🔥🥳🌞🏆👑🥂🥰❤️😍
Oh so proud of Jimmy.
Thank you for pointing this out because that was what the show was about.
People Can and Do change 🌻🎁
@@opssoldier3316 I agree. Sometimes that's what it takes, it certainly did in my case.
He didn't change he just stopped being 'Saul' hence the title 'Saul Gone'.
Series like this are hard to come by nowadays.. Rich in dialogue, rich in suspense with such an amazing casts. Perfect cinematography. Thanks Mr Giligan and Mr Gould.
Totally agree. It’s cheaper for networks to produce cheesy reality shows
*Bravo Vince

Check out 'Only Murders in the Building' on Disney, I thought it was quality.
Yes 👍
He didn’t choose to die alone as the others did. He actually travelled in time in a sense: he realized he’d be alone if he got away. So he changed his future, now he’ll die anyways, but he has Kim.
And maybe, he got to go back in time to that moment in the HHM parking garage w Kim and the cigarette…
@@kellenhassell Nailed it man. This comment completely uplifted that scene for me now.
I mean he'll get a visit once or twice a year and a few letters. I don't think the audience should forgive him so easily, he was about to kill an old woman and robbed a cancer patient just an episode ago. Vince Gilligan seems to like giving his anti-heroes some kind of heroic redemption arc of self-sacrifice. It gives us, the audience, a reason to not feel so bad about rooting for them despite all their crimes.
But couldn’t h have had Kim if he didn’t mention Howard an not ruin his plea agreement?
@@michaelcorcoran8768 I think Gilligan loves showing the bad fates of those who do bad. Heroes of the underworld, with shitty endings anyways.
He chose 86 years as Jimmy rather than 7 years as Saul
Nice summary, he got redeemed in the end but still has to suffer the consequences of everything he's done
86 in F&B means out of stock or no longer available
@@MrRocksW that's what comes with redemption.
what a stupid choice
He’s still Saul in prison dummy
The exit sign in the court was a call back to the episode where Chuck is in court and asks for all the lights to be turned off. The close up on the exit sign in that episode is similar to the one in the finale
Great catch
And that static is fire
It was another scene, no? At the end, when Chuck went mad. After he went berserk, they again focus in on that exit sign, with the same static. In chuck's case it seemed to point out that the only exit available was unavailable to Chuck and he just messed it up. For Jimmy, a similar thing is true. It is about both of them _not_ taking the exit they wanted to begin with. While they can see it - seemingly within reach, but unavailable because of their emotional mindset at the time. For Chuck it was envy, pride, hatred/anger - take your pick. Saul became the Jimmy Kim wanted, out of love for her. She was his only way out, in the end. Their emotion disabled their (the McGills) opportunistic nature.
But maybe, it was just meant to underline the exit of both characters. Or it was just a sign and the static was there to underline the silence that follows up their emotional breakdown.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder ;)
Yeah that scene made me smile. I love how this show does callbacks to characters people loved
nah
Just thinking about the amount of people in my life who love breaking bad but haven’t watched a single episode of BCS gives me clinical depression
Same people that didn't like "The Fly"
"For over three seasons of TV, BrBa has been unmitigated badassery, this episode was boring and is an insult to the viewers"
These are the same people that get the wrong ideas from The Sopranos
The scene between Chuck and Jimmy was heartbreaking. Jimmy was trying his hardest to help his brother out and Chuck does nothing but antagonize him and belittle him. "I hope you didn't steal that from a motel ice machine."
The big difference between Walt and Saul is that Walt had so many chances to turn back and be good, but kept choosing to break bad. Where as Saul genuinely tried his hardest to be good (at least in the first few seasons) but was just really good at being bad. And the scene with him and Chuck at the end told me that if he had a little more love and support from his brother who he looked up to SO much (he literally wanted to be a lawyer because of Chuck), he might have turned out to be a decent guy.
Now I agree, all of Saul/Jimmy's actions are his alone and he should pay for them, but that little bit of love and support could have made such a difference.
Jimmy wore the Saul outfit in court to make himself look as unlikable as possible to the judge. He made up his mind to come clean on the plane.
I thought he made up his mind in the cell itself and just wanted to show that he can get away with it by changing sentence to 7 years and yet he did not choose it
@@rishiprakash763 Could be. But he was definitely shocked by revalation that kim had confessed.
@@rishiprakash763 nah it was definitely the revelation that Kim had confessed that pushed him. If you think back to the previous episode where we heard the phone call between Kim and Saul, she says he should turn himself in, and he starts screaming, essentially calling her a hypocrite and that she should face her own guilt. He realised that she actually listened to him and did just that. Finding that out pushes him to do the same. It’s a small detail but I think it’s an important one to understand why Saul chose to confess.
@@josephtheaverage7628 yes, sounds valid
His final show
Saul Goodman is one of the most engaging protagonists I've ever seen. Bob plays him perfectly. Can't wait to see what he does next!
You won’t have to wait long he’s starring in a new series in 2023 it’s called straight man
Spoiler: he dies alone in prison after suffering years or decades there. Kim stopped visiting him long ago. She has a family now and is happy. Jimmy wishes he could go back in time and take the 7 year deal or the 30 year deal. He realizes that taking the 80 year deal made no sense and he ended up suffering unimageable physical and mental pain from his incarceration. He loses everything, including Kim, and wallows in his own torment until he dies in prison.
Based on what we KNOW, that is the most likely series of events after Season 6. Only if you ADD your own personal ideas to the show can anything else happen, e.g., "Well maybe Kim falls back in love with Jimmy. Even though he's in prison, they get married, have conjugal visits, and are happy". Sure, that is possible, but that isn't what they tell or show us in the finale. i don't want to make shit up to have a satisfying ending. i don't want to add details to the story to force it to make sense.
@@johns.1857 lol
Walt looking at the watch Jesse gave him when asked about regret show that his biggest wasn’t Gray Matter but his relationship with Jesse. He was just hiding it, similar to Saul’s being his relationship with Chuck.
nice catch
I LOVE the foreshadowing shot of Kim in the courtroom that looks like crosshairs just missing her
Yeah that made my eyes go wide, I loved it
Oh!
what scene is that? timestamp?
@@HaadiRehan I don't think it was shown in the video, but I'm pretty sure it's right when Saul walks into court and it pans on kim
@@HaadiRehan It is after the judge questions the short amount of time Saul will serve. Timestamp at 48 :04.
3 more things (so far) i noticed from this brilliant finale:
-Saul has been sort of taking advantage of seniors pretending to help them the entire series, and that's eventually his undoing (an elder calling the cops on him)
-The opening was pretty similar to the opening of El Camino, with Jesse talking to Mike about the future / past / money / getting away
-The shot in the courtroom with the Exit sign parallels the scene with Chuck in the courtroom with the exit sign on the opposite side of the frame, and he was talking about him.
Love how he wasn’t wearing Marco’s ring during his confession, finally able to reflect on everything
Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.
Well I wouldn't cry over a tv show. I'm ready for the last season to hit Netflix so I can finish it and not watch it through recaps.
@@freighter1097 why in the hell are you watching recaps? Just wait for the season to go on Netflix now you just spoiled it for yourself, what's the point in that?
@@jimdangle3708 I watch most recaps/plots before I watch something. Just something I've always done.
It all come full circle feels like I’m watching a Breaking Bad episode with Kim and Howard in it. The finale seems like not only the closing story for Saul but the whole Breaking Bad.
Howard wasn’t in this ep
@@lochofmceo Yup but his presence is like there, he got mention a lot and he is one of the characters that drive the episode.
@@dealpha3698 Exactly. Howard's death was the turning point for Kim to end the relationship, which led Jimmy to go full Saul Goodman. The same Saul Goodman fully willing to enable the rise of the money-making monster that was Walter White.
@@acgm046 Kim shouldnt have got away scot free for what she did to Howard
Absolutely it is. Better Call Saul is both a prequel and sequel to Breaking Bad. This is why I tell everyone that if they want to watch Breaking Bad after BCS, then they have to see Breaking Bad first unless they want to be spoiled for every major plot point.
I'm a little disappointed you didn't talk about what Chuck reading The Time Machine could mean. He tells Jimmy he could choose any other path, and Jimmy replies "When have you ever changed paths?" before leaving, and THAT'S when Chuck walks away with The Time Machine.
I think that's meant to tell us Chuck, despite being one of the characters with the most dedication and integrity, he lives with just as much regret. I think it shows us that Chuck was just as much of a slave to himself as Jimmy was to Saul. And that's why we see the parallel with the book in ep. 1 at Saul's place.
That scene reminds me of Walt on the run, pleading for company and conversation. Almost as if Walt wanted a “do-over”
Made me shed a tear
The way I saw it, the scene was Jimmy's answer to the time machine question - he would come back right before everything started (the scene takes place right before season 1 episode 1 where Jimmy brings Chuck the Financial Times) and reconcile with his brother.
Despite the antagonistic relationship, in that scene Chuck is offering an olive branch to Jimmy offering to talk to him about his cases and clients. If Jimmy hadn't rejected Chuck's offer and instead connected . . . maybe that moment/memory represented Jimmy's regret, that he could have built a better relationship with his brother.
@@IceStationZebraAssociates yep - this. I’m surprised more people haven’t picked up on this. It’s my favourite scene in the whole episode. A lesser writer/director would have just had Saul voice his regrets to Kim, or voice them publicly in the court scene in some predictable grandiose monologue. Instead we get one simple shot of the book (that was also foreshadowed in an earlier episode) that answers the question he was avoiding through out the flashbacks. This is the moment he would travel back in time to, he would stay and chat with his brother and not be such a petty POS. It’s such incredible writing. I think we are going to find incredible little details like this for years to come. The entire BB/BCS story is a masterpiece.
@@josephtheaverage7628 That's exactly how I saw it. The scene paved the way for the entire show to happen the way it did. And it all would have been completely different if Jimmy just accepted the peace offering that Chuck put forward.
“You expect a jury to believe that?”
“One…all I need is one”
Such a wild insight into how difficult it is to actually find someone guilty
best moment of the entire sencond half of the sixth season. Ending makes no sense, no person would willingly spend the rest of his life in jail when he could still try to rebuild it outside in just seven years
@@mjeffbr makes no sense to throw bowling balls at a colleague's car but here we are
@@mjeffbr bro you clearly didn't understand the ending and what saul was trying to do
@@calebsolonas6085 I understand he was trying to redeem himself, making up for things he did in the past but it was just too unrealistic to not take the 7 years and then form a plan to redeem himself another way. He'll die in a maximum security prison, instead of 7 years in minimum security. When out he could use his skills to help people.
@@shaunthomson523 he wasn’t only trying to redeem himself, Kim had admitted to their involvement and the actual story around Howard’s death. Some say he did it to save her when it wouldn’t have saved her (if she needed it as the statue for the suit may have passed after all those years) he did it because he wanted to show her he had the ability to take responsibility for everything he’s done and prove Saul isint the real him to not only her but himself and the memory of Chuck. If he took the 7 he’d always know himself as Saul and live his life behind a mask now in prison even though he’s referred to as Saul he acts more like slipping Jimmy (which during his last fight with Chuck, Chuck said he’d have more respect for Jimmy if he owned who he was). So I can imagine him still pulling some stunts in prison but not to the extreme he would’ve as Saul.
This episode was beautifully bitter sweet. He may have made amends, and became jimmy again in his mind. Sadly, the saul persona will always be who everyone sees. But now, he's in a better place than he was at the beginning of the series, finally being surrounded by the people he always helped and who genuinely respected him. In a way, saul won
One of the finest shows ever made, from start to finish. Eclipses "Breaking Bad" in the complexity of storytelling, pushing the visual grandeur and the character development to towering heights. Can't wait to watch the entire saga again.
“Eclipses”? “Eclipses Breaking Bad??” Raise your hand if your name is Rory, and your aim is to sound like the most pretentious dillweed on the internet. 🙋♂️= Rory Pond
The show’s great, but it does not “eclipse”Breaking Bad 🤣🤣
This show doesn’t even come close to breaking bad. The ending was soooo boring and predictable. Bb is waayyyyy better
@@jakepayne2985 right this dude sniffs his own farts lol
@@jakepayne2985 He didn't say eclipses breaking bad as a whole, just the complexity in storytelling, which is natural with the writers getting experience. I agree 'eclipses' is a bit extreme though since breaking is fantastically written
@@leonli844 Well, eclipses in ANY sense is fuckin stupid at worst, and hyperbolic at best. They’re on the same level, with maybe certain aspects of each being better than the other, but they’re closer to equal than fuckin “eclipse” haha
when Gene was running down the ditch to hide under the bridge, I almost expected him to slip on the ice and get caught that way. But after Jeffy slipping on the department store floor, maybe another slip & fall plot twist would be overkill. Still, getting caught as slippin' Jimmy would be poetic.
My life feels kinda empty now that saul is gone😔One of the best shows ever
My favorite series ever. Ultimately both characters found redemption. The final scenes ... J and K sharing a smoke ... to sharing unsaid moments ... a wall of fences between them. Jimmy becomes a white knight for Kim. I tear up just thinking about it. An epic love story with a myriad of deminsions.
I honestly think this show is a master class training course for any writers out there. There's no other content in the world that represents the prequel, sequel and present timeline at the same time. It was an absolute masterpiece. Vince Gilligan and Pete Gould are my fav writers now.
I feel bad for Saul after watching the ending. He could have gotten away but he still choose to do the right thing.
That's exactly why I hated the ending, it make no sense at all, he never change even when he could have actually saved lives but at the end he says the true for no reason, worst ending ever
@@RobertSmith-cx2zh its insane how despite breaking bad and better call saul being about it, some people dont understand that people change
@@RobertSmith-cx2zh it definitely made sense, if you’ve watched the whole series then you’d see that jimmy always did everything for kim and once he heard that she was gonna lose everything then he wanted to come clean so she doesn’t lose everything. he helped kim when chuck was trying to take her client and he helped when kim wanted to pull those pranks on howard when you could see he didn’t want to so the ending makes perfect sense
@@holybanana8182 the thing is he didn’t change bc he was helping out kim something he’s always done
@@RobertSmith-cx2zh I thought they should have did a different direction I didn't like it the ending
I think it's beautiful that Jimmy lives on with Kim, while "Saul" is in jail for the rest of his life. We see on the bus that "Saul" is celebrated by his fellow inmates, that celebrity along with his Cinnabon knowledge will likely see him live out his days rather peacefully. Just a fantastically meager ending to an amazing journey.
Thanks for these terrific breakdowns!
Yay. Been waiting for this all morning 😂
I definitely think BCS is one of the greatest shows ever written. Vince and Peter are extremely talented showrunners and writers and they perfectly encapsulated Jimmy/Saul’s character arc. Thanks for reviewing the show and helping me show the parallels to Breaking Bad!
So I can’t help but think that him taking a sentence of 86 years instead of the negotiated sentence of 7 years was a way of saying he is getting “86’ed” as in returned or sent back or cancelled… the show, his life as he knew it, but also his lying and running from the truth…
From lucky #7 to being quite literally “86ed”… I can’t help but think that this has to be intentional
Thanks for covering this show. Really enjoyed your videos.
Thank you for these reviews! Enjoyed and appreciated them
Incredible finale. Great final scenes for Jimmy and Kim, but also Mike and Walter White! Looks like Cranston actually shaved his head again for the scene, too! Not the El Camino bald cap
He definitely had a bald cap on, it’s just less noticeable because of the lighting
That moment when Walt looked at the watch when talking about regrets reminded me about that time in Fly when Walt apologized to Jesse for Jane
Excellent insights and video! Way to go!!!
actually grateful to be alive for the experience of seeing this show and its forebears when they were first broadcast, i doubt much will be ever able to top them from a storytelling and television direction perspective. just amazing. bravo.
Even the little detail of giving us the backstory on Saul’s knee pain (remember when he’s taken by Walt & Jesse & he says he has bad knees lol) just absolutely mind-boggling the work they put into these shows!!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
11:47 love the static sounds as he talks about Chuck and calls him "brilliant" (like Howard used to call him)
JEEEZ! How did I miss so much. Thank you so much for your research and attention to detail
Thank you for your break down of Better Call Saul. You did a wonderful job doing so.
I feel like the entire Walter White-Saul conversation reminded Jimmy of how Chuck treated him ("Stay on your lane" and "So you've always being like this") which is why it was hitting so close to home...
I wonder how much the death of 'Ed the dissappearer's' actor in 2019 Influenced this ending.
New Jeff probably also changed a lot.
He was a loser while the old one was intimidating.
They could always recast, especially since all they really need is a voice on the phone for Ed
Great video. Love the puns
totally missed this finale as time travel episode till you showed me. OMG what a series to go out with a time travel episode is genius, great review Paul
Great review! I was waiting for Kim to return the finger guns, but her not doing so to me meant she’s moving on to her future as he wanted. Both BB and Saul were excellent and I’m looking forward to more great writing on Bob and Giancarlo’s 2023 shows.
So sad its over but he redeemed himself in the end & became Jimmy again. I'm going to have to watch the show from the start again at some point. Good to see Chuck make an appearance too. This show needs all the awards!

My only disappointed is that we didn't get to see Cliff one last time. I feel like he'd want a talk with Kim after hearing the truth about Howard since he was completely fooled by her scam. He also must feel guilty for not trusting Howard.
Thank you Paul for being with us and discussing my favorite show this year 🙏
Great as always.
Amazing breakdown! I'm sad that it's over but happy I was able to watch this masterpiece.
I think the best part of the madeoff pun is you cracking up! 🤣 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
hahah cheers
I love Gilligan's use of color. The cherry on the end of the cigarette Saul and Kim share in the finale is *chef's kiss* see-knee-mah.
Thanks!
I didn't discover your breakdowns until the final season but i got up at 5am after a late night to watch BCS so I could also watch your breakdown (I didn't want to be tempted to watch it first). I knew the show was going to have a successful final episode because I consider myself pretty good at predicting how TV shows will go but I had NO IDEA what was going to happen pretty much all season. THAT is what makes for a great TV show. If you asked me last year I would have told you Kim was going to die at the end. I was that far off. It seemed like too big of a stretch that she as alive during BB but the answer they gave us was simple and still believable. That is just one example of the amazing writing from this show and this season.
I love that he STILL wears the blue ribbon with the suit. He's the only one that still cares.
That scene with Walt reminded me of how much of a controlling, petty asshole he is for no reason. Like shit I can't believe I sympathized with him in BB for so long
Thank you
Love it!!!
Gene has been shown framed behind bars since at least season 3. Pretty neat foreshadowing.
And Walter and others with a wall in between them, be it a real wall, a support post, a window frame, etc.
Another great call back was the Wayfarer plane he got extradited on…calling back the Wayfarer 515 episode in breaking bad.
Day one BCS fan here , the finale was so bittersweet. Loved your breakdown ! Thanks heavy spoilers !!!
Thanks! My cable was cutting out during the finale; wasn't sure if they were doing a Sopranos ending or if it was my tv!

Better Call Saul, a prequel about how Jimmy turned into Saul, and then back into Jimmy.
almost shed a tear, im a bit late but thanks for the review. damn this was good
I loved this finale! What was also cool was the buzzing of the exit sign. It brought back his brother's aversion to electricity
This was a GREAT finale, it drastically exceeded my expectations. Goodbye, to an amazing show 🤙🏼
3 dumpster scenes.
Cardboard cutout, evading arrest.
But his first venture was trying to actually be a good lawyer and fight for justice, even though the misguided gesture was unnecessary, as the shredded documents were in the recycling bin.
The story of his life.
Great breakdown of the finale to an absolutely fantastic series 👍🏼
BCS makes Saul in Breaking Bad seem like a one-dimensional act. The writers and Bob himself brought in such depth to the character!
The finale was like a final stop for an almost decade long story. Hats off to Vince Gilligan and Team. Such a beautiful story and a lot of memorable characters. I always feared that it couldn't match BB but BCS is in its own league. I hope they don't squeeze more out of this universe as the story has a great motive and an conclusion. Wish more power was given to the vision of the director and storytellers and studios fund them to bring these dreams alive on screen.
Very best "about the last episode" video. PERIOD. I still hope so much we will get some kind of continuation in a few years ....
Absolutely loved this show, binge watched it over a couple of weeks to catch up. Gat as far as the end of season 3 of Breaking Bad before giving up….this show is far superior. Brilliant in every detail. Thanks for the reviews Paul, without them I wouldn’t have started watching.
What I liked about the Breaking Bad ending was how genuinely satisfying it was. You knew when you were watching it, it was the perfect ending. The Better Call Saul ending, as fitting as it might be, is one that you have to live with for a while. It's true greatness is something only time will tell.
All's they did was completely rip-off Seinfeld's series finale here, no?
@@situated4 no they didn’t
I watched the opening in slow motion and I think it jumps from the air freshener to the bread Jimmy baked in prison.
And if all that masterful development of characters isn’t already enough there’s also the brilliant and gorgeous camera work. I saw the series twice - first time on my phone before going to sleep - the second time on HD large screen and it astounded me to see the genius compositions, camera angles and lighting - it was all truly eye candy to see at the same time as thrilling to contemplate the story line.
Really enjoyed this show from start to finish. This last season was soooo good!
They did a wonderful job with the finale, and , IMHO, made both seasons infinitely re-watchable.
Thank for this interpretation! Need to go to sleep soon, seeing as it's close to 4am my time...but so Happy to end my day on This! All caught up Mate! Let me know how I can send you your Well Earned brew money!
much love
First thing I've noticed at the end on the prison scene with Kim was the combination of the BCS and Breaking Bad's theme song.
The lazy country guitar slide from BCS with that iconic drums of Breaking Bad. I will miss how both series especially BCS, cinematography and attention to details, even the miniscule of details. Such an amazing series it's been. From the actors to the director, staff, everything was perfect.
I agree, there are many point where i was blown away with the level of detail and symbolism in the cinematography to a much hiegh degree than i felt with breaking bad.
I love the use of color in the flashbacks and current time!
The fact that he helped out so many criminals in their court cases will help him whilst behind bars.
Saul is the Paddington bear of the breaking bad universe
Didn’t really stick the landing for me. Him not taking the deal just makes him seems stupid. He could have always reconciled or confessed after the seven years and not thrown his life away for most of the crimes committed by other people.
It didn't really matter if he got seven, three or even one year in prison. What kind of life would he led if he got out? An ex-convict that could never go back to his old ways. Fate worse than death in his case.
Him taking the easy option/ short cut would’ve been more of the same. He needed to confess and face the music for once if he ever wanted to free himself for real.
Lets goo🔥👍🏻
I feel like they watched the last episode of ST:TNG when they wrote this. They managed to do a time travel episode without time travel while still, in a meta sort of way, mentioning time travel.
Man this finale was so good.
A well deserved and earned ending.
Great show man. Great character development and good thing that Saul still got a lot of respects from other inmates.
That was such a cool moment on the inmate bus
The ending was horrible. Him not accepting the 7 years and sacrificing himself for nothing makes no sense and doesnt fit the character.
The whole Gene timeline feels pointless now.
Saul Goodman lost but Jimmy McGill won.
@@petermj1098 no1 won, there was no reason to add 80 years to the sentence, take 7 years, get out after 4 and never do anything criminal ever again is pretty much only logical thing to do
@@Click3rs Jimmy wanted prove that he could change. Mike, Walter, Chuck and Kim didn’t think he couldn’t change and he proved them wrong. Saul Goodman would’ve done the 7 year deal and continue to be Saul Goodman. But Saul Goodman got his poetic justice for 86 years when he scammed women in their 80s.
@@petermj1098 I know what the ending stands for. I just disagree with it and find it unfitting with the character who would not throw his life away for the very idea of change and taking responsibility
Breaking Bad had a dramatic, action packed, and meticulously planned series of events to make up its finale- which was perfect for the show it was. Better Call Saul ended on a bittersweet note, with the perfect balance of remorse, penance, and the guy who could talk his way out of anything receiving the punishment he deserved. It isn’t the ending that Saul Goodman would’ve wanted, it’s the ending that Jimmy McGill would’ve wanted.
I placed Breaking Bad on a golden pedestal as my favorite show of all time, and I didn’t ever think Better Call Saul could beat that. I’m glad it didn’t- instead, BCS spent 6 well paced seasons showing character development in a completely different way than Breaking Bad did, and building itself its own pedestal right next to BB’s. The two are tied for my all time favorite show and I cannot wait to see what project Vince Gilligan does next!
This is one of the series that's going to always age like a fine wine
Hearing the electricity in the courtroom was great, Chuck was present
I think when it was pointed out in the one scene before his flight to Omaha he had not changed since 22 it was a nice contrast in the court where he did change and took responsibility for all he did and more.
Better Call Saul has the most epic cinematography I have ever seen after breaking bad. The casts portrayed their characters with genuine, realistic and natural acting. The storyline/script is exceptionally engaging and intriguing, character development was so smooth and impeccable.
This episode was really satisfying. I've loved it!
Loved the tiny bit of color in the cigarette scene.
