This anime has a early 2000s feel. The art style, the songs, even having the Magical School genre that was so popular back then. It feels nostalgic even though it's a new anime

I didn't think there were this many people that were into this anime, really makes me happy. Is a feelsgood comedy anime that doesn't sacrifice any character growth/motivation and I love it.
A friend of mine that found the manga and began feverishly consuming got me to read it. Said friend refers to our main hero as "Diet Deku," which I don't deny. Similar look, removed some of the direct harshness such as being told to kill himself but just as great a character.

I love the fact that they don't really even hide the fact that Iruma is going to be the next demon lord (the silhouette with is signature cowlick is just about as in your face as the beginning of naruto where they showed the silhouette of minato and expected people not to make the connection between him and Naruto) but also I love when Sabnock is describing the prophecy and it matches iruma to a T but not in the way that most people would assume (like he will arrive from another world, iruma is from Earth, or the bit about healing with his blood and then they show that human blood heals demons, and he will wear the ring of Solomon, which Iruma does) it's so well done.
In alot of ways I agree with you but Spoilers: the prior demon lord looks near identical to an older Iruma (and posibly female) so the silhouette may be their's)
It makes me really look forward to seeing him become the demon king. Like, I have never wanted to see a characters future come to fruition as much as I do now.
What makes this anime so good to me, is the fact that they play it safe for the most part in terms of cliches. It does the whole school days fish out of water character but I never feel like it is overdone. What carries this show is the characters personality and the vibrant art style. My favorite part of the show is the whole post credit scenes where they dive deeper into the characters. In the latest episode as of this posting, Iruma, Clara, and Asmodeus have to wear idol outfits to a concert. Asmodeus figures out how to wear it a little too fast, quickly makes excuses why he could do it, and it reminds you that he is a descendant of a succubus family an earlier episode established.
Yeah, that was great and made my day. I'm constantly surprised and happy with how internally consistent the series is while delivering the best comedy.

And even the little scenes like when Iruma first entered the school, you can see Sabnock trying to fight with a teacher, and just in episode two they mention someone fighting with a teacher lol
My favorite part of this show outside the writing is how it evokes "this character is attractive" with Ameri and others without getting horribly fanservice-y. No panty shots the whole season.
@@tomasfong40 Idk man, that hasn't stopped other shonen Anime before. Didn't Asuna get a boob shot (and a lot of questionable near-rape scenes but i don't really count those) at some point? SAO isn't an ecchi Anime yet they still went there. Plus all the shonen that has ridiculous costumes designs just for the sake of saying 'look how hot this character is. You can tell because they're half naked.'
i actually really like the cheaper animation. gave it a more catoony style that really reminded me of the slapstick cartoons like tom and jerry and daffy duck. with it not looking cheap like some of the generic isekai anime's where everything looks copypasted.
I really wish you had mentioned the fact that during Clara's musical numbers they use their powers to create the costumes and props for real. You can see them around after the number is finished. That says that they actually do all that in front on everyone else who watch them in confusion.
The fact that Clara didn’t get nominated for best girl 2019 is an absolute tragedy. I normally don’t like overly excited, irritating “genki” girls, but Clara is THE best girl.
Imo, she has two of the best qualities ever. First, she is absolutely adorable with how innocent she is. Second, she can magically produce anything from her magic pockets.

It is closed to the public and is in the process of being turned into a new comics app. Right now it is not up and running and soon MangaRock will be gone all together. There is plans for the beta to be up and running at least by summer I think. Well that is news before the social distancing and such. Everything was slowed down and MangaRock should have been taken down by now and the Beta App should have been up. So everything is up in the air about all that.

There was a veiled threat in the beginning that if Iruma refused to be his grandson Sulivan would have no choice but to eat him or something. Knowing Suli and the Border Patrol he probably would have just tossed him back to the humab world instead
@@priestesslucy I always got the feeling that he meant what he said there, since there was no point in threatening Iruma after he had already agreed to be Sullivan's grandson. He may spoil Iruma a lot, but Sullivan is still one of the three most powerful demons, and he seems to hide a lot of knowledge from Iruma. Who knows what he's capable of? It's very likely that Sullivan and the other top demons have eaten human flesh before, since it seems like they've been around a long time (during periods where the demon world would be in brutal war and chaos) and human flesh seems to have been valued by past demons going by the outdated school anthem, "Humans exist to be our food". It's outdated because we know very few demons encounter humans in Babyls, so humans have become a myth to most. Human tears have a healing effect on demons, so maybe eating human flesh would give a demon strength or mana, making it a highly sought after treasure. Sullivan also acts clueless at times but I think there's a reason why he specifically chose Iruma.
FINALLY!!! It's about time someone spoke up about this glorious show!! I genuinely love Iruma-kun (the show), and have been amazed by how clever and funny it is. I'm beyond happy that you brought this one to other peoples attention, cause it deserves to be watched by everyone. And while I agree with just about everything you said in this video... there is one point of contention that I am honor bound to discuss. While Clara is an absolutely ADORABLE little cupcake who should be protected for all time, it is Ameri Azazel who is best girl. Her personality and the way she interacts with Iruma are just heartwarming and hilarious. The scene with her father was one of the most side-splitting laugh fits I have had watching a show in ages. It literally brought me to tears I was laughing so hard. Seeing how she perks up whenever they are sharing time together in the tea room is just adorable. How excited she got during the culture festival with Iruma's Battler event... truly she deserves the title of best girl of this show. But that's just this weebs opinion, so take it how you will.
I feel like this anime follows the pattern of having a lot of the same cliches/tropes as million other anime, but executes those cliches in a way that makes it feel refreshing.
This anime makes me feel nostalgic for the days I just started warming up to anime. It's like it has become an important piece of my childhood I recall fondly yet I literally finished binge-watching it an hour ago. Thanks my dude for this review, I am, too, sorry I slept on this series for so long.

One thing I like in this series is how Alice went from proud Malfoy-like rival to Iruma's faithful friend/servant in span of only the first chapter/episode.

When I watched the first episode, I almost rolled my eyes. Midoriya with Hayate's parents goes to the world of Rosario+Vampire. Over time, it became one of my favorites of the season. Good writing can do that.
I’m so glad this anime is becoming more popular, since I loved the manga so much!! Since I’m used to seeing it in black and white, the over saturated colors really confused me at first, but it really grew on me XD I love all of the characters, and Clara is best girl. I like Ameri and all, but like, the crazy gremlin energy is the best kind XD

Many other people have praised the anime, so I’m sure the rest of the episodes are just as good! I’m mostly a manga reader, so I’ve really only read the manga lol. The anime does stay to source material, so it’s probably just as good! The comedy is super good, and I recommend it if you want to get a good laugh and have a feel good story!
In my opinion this show is brilliant, I always compare it to those anime’s “kids shows” you’d see on main tv, such as Bay Blade. The bright colors, wholesomeness, and humor at times just reminds me of it, BUT that’s why I love it so much. I find myself rooting for the characters. I can’t tell you enough why I love this show. "Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun" is my favorite anime of all time, and to be quite honest, I don't know if that will ever change. There's truly no anime like it. I don't know if anything will ever come close, but if it does, it won't come around for a very long time. This anime has everything I could want in a show. It has all my favorite tropes. Friendship. Platonic love. Found family. Empathy. Overly doting parental figures. Helping those around you and making a positive impact on the world. I mean come on, Iruma BROUGHT THE CONCEPT OF FRIENDSHIP TO THE DEMON WORLD!! This anime is so sweet and wholesome it hurts. Thinking about it too much makes me cry. Watching it legitimately makes me feel like a kid all over again. ❤

I would have loved a tone closer to the manga, this could have been an amazing anime had they told the entire story with all those dark and emotional parts.
Is this a dream ? I'm dreaming right ? Honestly, that season (Fall 2019) i dropped literally everything because i grew bored or unenthusiastic after a week of wait. But this show, i watched it every week, it just so easy to digest, it's nothing big really, it's a plain simple show, i really didn't expect anyone to mention it (Especially not after like 3 months) But damn i was excited every time to see the next episode, i swear this show is meant to be around in 2009.. It really gives off the same vibes. Even the Thumbnail of the anime is so... 2009-ish It just makes you smile.
This series is an absolute treasure, and it just keeps getting better. It may be my favorite anime and manga now; and I spent almost two decades with Naruto as my firm favorite, so that's saying a lot. This video mentions humor a lot, but even better than the humor, is that the relationships between characters in this anime are genuine. They're not just saying they care about each other. You can see it. The many characters work together, and they grow, and they change each other for the better. Many shonen series have friendship as a theme, but in this series, it feels REAL. And as a watcher/reader, you can't help but start to love the characters deeply as they grow, too. Truly, I cannot recommend this series enough.

I like the lacking visuals, I honestly thought it was intentional to make me feel like I'm watching an old early 2000s show. Also i swear Baylis is a backdrop from a disgaea game, the whole world is even a netherworld without an overlord, the comedy even matches.
the amount of character growth in this series is unreal, or rather very real(realistic). once you make the jump from the anime to the manga you can really get to where the series shines, and while the shonen battle aspects take more of a forefront, it not only does them super well it also keeps its heart. minor spoilers below in a discussion of iruma as a character nowhere is this more obvious than iruma himself who grows from a well meaning but cowardly, meek and fairly helpless child who just wants to blend in, to a strapping, competent, ambitious and all around badass young man while keeping the genuinely caring and good heart that is core to his character. and all this growth happens gradually and mostly without fanfare in a very organic and believable way. iruma is one of the single best MCs i have encountered in all of the hundreds and hundreds of manga ive read (honestly tied with legosi from beastars)
The joke at 16:33 made me laugh harder than anything else has in a long time. Like, the kind of laugh where I had to pause the video for a good 5 minutes, and then immediately type this comment. "Frantic Grandpa Moe Energy" is now the new slogan for the Bernie Sanders campaign, and no one can tell me otherwise.

When I was randomly suggested the first episode of this series in my UA-cam feed, I immediately loved it! It reminded me so much of Rosario + Vampire but WAY better! I was so desperate to learn more, but there was only one episode at the time. So I went online and read the ENTIRE manga until I caught up with it. All within 2 days! And this was before the second episode dropped on Crunchyroll. THAT’S how much I love this show. Never before had I had such a riot watching this masterpiece. And yes, there are a lot of cut corners. Many of the animation seems janky at times. But it’s writing, designs and colorful cast greatly outweigh that big negative. I mean, I love great designs and animation. But I find story and characters much more valuable. I’d never have found the stories, shows, games I now love otherwise. And this show knocks that factor out of the park. 10/10 would recommend to anybody and everybody.
The Manga goes further, with Iruma's entire class gaining their own arcs and development. In fact one of my fav moments is when Alice gets called out specifically because he hasn't changed one bit since he met Iruma, while everyone else has. And that actually causes him to have a small personal crisis. And then there's Ameri, a hilarious take on a Tsundere who isn't an asshole or insecure, just comically inept at communicating her feelings.
I hope you are happy with yourself, after seeing this video at 2am I decided to check it out. It is now noon and I just finished watching the 22 eps that are out. How dare you not tell us about the greatest anime this season, nay this year! That was by far the funniest, most adorable thing I have ever had the pleasure of seeing! How dare you sleep on this and not tell the people who for some reason listen to you about what anime to watch to watch this beauty! (all joking aside, thank you for bringing this to my attention, I haven't laughed and smiled that much for a while. Thank you.)

I just caught up with the manga and I can just say it keeps getting better. I originally thought that it would all just be gags and slice of life, but there's a surprising amount of action and an underlying plot that I'm excited to see resolved. I love the different dynamics in the class, and it's almost like one piece and my hero academia had a strangely demonic child. The whole class evolves as the story goes on and I highly recommend reading the manga.

Finally, someone has praised one of my favorite anime of recent years. Iruma-Kun has so much charm and it’s so disappointing that so little people watched it
I’m not sure what made me want to give this show a chance but when I watched it for the first time I thought it was going to be terrible. I was expecting the usual harem isekai show with an OP protagonist and obnoxious amounts of fan service. As I kept watching though, the show began to surprise me. It was funny and cute, the characters were likeable, and most of all there was an interesting plot and decently written romantic subplots that didn’t make you angry at the characters or take away from the main story. Like honestly I was gearing up to hate Clara because I thought she was going to be one of those characters who are so energetic to the point of annoyance or that we were going to have to hear about her crush on Iruma all the time. But by the end, her character interaction and genuine hilarity really grounded her for me into one of my favorite characters. Overall nothing in this series felt particularly forced or contrived do to the series being unexpectedly ironclad with its own internal logic. Even if it sets up something that seems like just another a joke we get serious follow through. The crack gets taken seriously and I absolutely love it. We even have some fun world building like demons doing a 666 sign instead of a peace sign. Honestly it’s a genuinely a fun watch that I would highly recommend.

Only two years into watching anime I'm already a jaded snob who nitpicks animation quality but I balance that with a realistic understanding of how expensive anime is to produce to come away with an appreciation for how they creatively use their budget. None of that whatsoever crossed my mind watching the first season because the show is so hilarious and the VA was so incredible it didn't even matter to me. It was good enough to earn it's right to continue it's adaptation, and honestly that's all I hoped for.

I love the fact that they don't really even hide the fact that Iruma is going to be the next demon lord (the silhouette with is signature cowlick is just about as in your face as the beginning of naruto where they showed the silhouette of minato and expected people not to make the connection between him and Naruto) but also I love when Sabnock is describing the prophecy and it matches iruma to a T but not in the way that most people would assume (like he will arrive from another world, iruma is from Earth, or the bit about healing with his blood and then they show that human blood heals demons, and he will wear the ring of Solomon, which Iruma does) it's so well done.

What makes this anime so good to me, is the fact that they play it safe for the most part in terms of cliches. It does the whole school days fish out of water character but I never feel like it is overdone.
What carries this show is the characters personality and the vibrant art style. My favorite part of the show is the whole post credit scenes where they dive deeper into the characters. In the latest episode as of this posting, Iruma, Clara, and Asmodeus have to wear idol outfits to a concert. Asmodeus figures out how to wear it a little too fast, quickly makes excuses why he could do it, and it reminds you that he is a descendant of a succubus family an earlier episode established.
and ZERO ecchi scenes!
Yeah, that was great and made my day. I'm constantly surprised and happy with how internally consistent the series is while delivering the best comedy.

It’s terrifying how Osamu Nishi used these comedy scenes for foreshadowing, and since it’s too funny people don’t notice the foreshadowing.
And even the little scenes like when Iruma first entered the school, you can see Sabnock trying to fight with a teacher, and just in episode two they mention someone fighting with a teacher lol
I like how Clara's plot of being attractive in her own way is still expanding in the manga
She got even better after her tutoring.

My favorite part of this show outside the writing is how it evokes "this character is attractive" with Ameri and others without getting horribly fanservice-y.

You can tell because they're half naked.'

i actually really like the cheaper animation. gave it a more catoony style that really reminded me of the slapstick cartoons like tom and jerry and daffy duck. with it not looking cheap like some of the generic isekai anime's where everything looks copypasted.

The fact that Clara didn’t get nominated for best girl 2019 is an absolute tragedy. I normally don’t like overly excited, irritating “genki” girls, but Clara is THE best girl.
Imo, she has two of the best qualities ever. First, she is absolutely adorable with how innocent she is. Second, she can magically produce anything from her magic pockets.

It is closed to the public and is in the process of being turned into a new comics app. Right now it is not up and running and soon MangaRock will be gone all together. There is plans for the beta to be up and running at least by summer I think. Well that is news before the social distancing and such. Everything was slowed down and MangaRock should have been taken down by now and the Beta App should have been up. So everything is up in the air about all that.

I always got the feeling that he meant what he said there, since there was no point in threatening Iruma after he had already agreed to be Sullivan's grandson. He may spoil Iruma a lot, but Sullivan is still one of the three most powerful demons, and he seems to hide a lot of knowledge from Iruma. Who knows what he's capable of?
It's very likely that Sullivan and the other top demons have eaten human flesh before, since it seems like they've been around a long time (during periods where the demon world would be in brutal war and chaos) and human flesh seems to have been valued by past demons going by the outdated school anthem, "Humans exist to be our food". It's outdated because we know very few demons encounter humans in Babyls, so humans have become a myth to most.
Human tears have a healing effect on demons, so maybe eating human flesh would give a demon strength or mana, making it a highly sought after treasure.
Sullivan also acts clueless at times but I think there's a reason why he specifically chose Iruma.
FINALLY!!! It's about time someone spoke up about this glorious show!! I genuinely love Iruma-kun (the show), and have been amazed by how clever and funny it is. I'm beyond happy that you brought this one to other peoples attention, cause it deserves to be watched by everyone. And while I agree with just about everything you said in this video... there is one point of contention that I am honor bound to discuss. While Clara is an absolutely ADORABLE little cupcake who should be protected for all time, it is Ameri Azazel who is best girl. Her personality and the way she interacts with Iruma are just heartwarming and hilarious. The scene with her father was one of the most side-splitting laugh fits I have had watching a show in ages. It literally brought me to tears I was laughing so hard. Seeing how she perks up whenever they are sharing time together in the tea room is just adorable. How excited she got during the culture festival with Iruma's Battler event... truly she deserves the title of best girl of this show. But that's just this weebs opinion, so take it how you will.

I feel like this anime follows the pattern of having a lot of the same cliches/tropes as million other anime, but executes those cliches in a way that makes it feel refreshing.
This anime makes me feel nostalgic for the days I just started warming up to anime. It's like it has become an important piece of my childhood I recall fondly yet I literally finished binge-watching it an hour ago.

When I watched the first episode, I almost rolled my eyes. Midoriya with Hayate's parents goes to the world of Rosario+Vampire. Over time, it became one of my favorites of the season. Good writing can do that.

Many other people have praised the anime, so I’m sure the rest of the episodes are just as good! I’m mostly a manga reader, so I’ve really only read the manga lol. The anime does stay to source material, so it’s probably just as good! The comedy is super good, and I recommend it if you want to get a good laugh and have a feel good story!

In my opinion this show is brilliant, I always compare it to those anime’s “kids shows” you’d see on main tv, such as Bay Blade. The bright colors, wholesomeness, and humor at times just reminds me of it, BUT that’s why I love it so much. I find myself rooting for the characters. I can’t tell you enough why I love this show. "Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun" is my favorite anime of all time, and to be quite honest, I don't know if that will ever change. There's truly no anime like it. I don't know if anything will ever come close, but if it does, it won't come around for a very long time. This anime has everything I could want in a show. It has all my favorite tropes. Friendship. Platonic love. Found family. Empathy. Overly doting parental figures. Helping those around you and making a positive impact on the world. I mean come on, Iruma BROUGHT THE CONCEPT OF FRIENDSHIP TO THE DEMON WORLD!!
This anime is so sweet and wholesome it hurts. Thinking about it too much makes me cry. Watching it legitimately makes me feel like a kid all over again.

Honestly, that season (Fall 2019) i dropped literally everything because i grew bored or unenthusiastic after a week of wait.
But this show, i watched it every week, it just so easy to digest, it's nothing big really, it's a plain simple show, i really didn't expect anyone to mention it (Especially not after like 3 months) But damn i was excited every time to see the next episode, i swear this show is meant to be around in 2009.. It really gives off the same vibes. Even the Thumbnail of the anime is so... 2009-ish

This series is an absolute treasure, and it just keeps getting better. It may be my favorite anime and manga now; and I spent almost two decades with Naruto as my firm favorite, so that's saying a lot.
This video mentions humor a lot, but even better than the humor, is that the relationships between characters in this anime are genuine. They're not just saying they care about each other. You can see it. The many characters work together, and they grow, and they change each other for the better. Many shonen series have friendship as a theme, but in this series, it feels REAL. And as a watcher/reader, you can't help but start to love the characters deeply as they grow, too. Truly, I cannot recommend this series enough.

the amount of character growth in this series is unreal, or rather very real(realistic). once you make the jump from the anime to the manga you can really get to where the series shines, and while the shonen battle aspects take more of a forefront, it not only does them super well it also keeps its heart.
minor spoilers below in a discussion of iruma as a character
nowhere is this more obvious than iruma himself who grows from a well meaning but cowardly, meek and fairly helpless child who just wants to blend in, to a strapping, competent, ambitious and all around badass young man while keeping the genuinely caring and good heart that is core to his character. and all this growth happens gradually and mostly without fanfare in a very organic and believable way. iruma is one of the single best MCs i have encountered in all of the hundreds and hundreds of manga ive read (honestly tied with legosi from beastars)

When I was randomly suggested the first episode of this series in my UA-cam feed, I immediately loved it! It reminded me so much of Rosario + Vampire but WAY better! I was so desperate to learn more, but there was only one episode at the time. So I went online and read the ENTIRE manga until I caught up with it. All within 2 days! And this was before the second episode dropped on Crunchyroll. THAT’S how much I love this show.
Never before had I had such a riot watching this masterpiece. And yes, there are a lot of cut corners. Many of the animation seems janky at times. But it’s writing, designs and colorful cast greatly outweigh that big negative. I mean, I love great designs and animation. But I find story and characters much more valuable. I’d never have found the stories, shows, games I now love otherwise. And this show knocks that factor out of the park.
10/10 would recommend to anybody and everybody.
The manga did show that he...truly is a badass though, he'd probably be one of those OP shonen protagonist in a more serious setting.
His Exil cycle makes him the badass
The Manga goes further, with Iruma's entire class gaining their own arcs and development. In fact one of my fav moments is when Alice gets called out specifically because he hasn't changed one bit since he met Iruma, while everyone else has. And that actually causes him to have a small personal crisis.
And then there's Ameri, a hilarious take on a Tsundere who isn't an asshole or insecure, just comically inept at communicating her feelings.
I hope you are happy with yourself, after seeing this video at 2am I decided to check it out. It is now noon and I just finished watching the 22 eps that are out. How dare you not tell us about the greatest anime this season, nay this year! That was by far the funniest, most adorable thing I have ever had the pleasure of seeing! How dare you sleep on this and not tell the people who for some reason listen to you about what anime to watch to watch this beauty!
(all joking aside, thank you for bringing this to my attention, I haven't laughed and smiled that much for a while. Thank you.)

Season 2 comin' out at Spring 2021
I just caught up with the manga and I can just say it keeps getting better. I originally thought that it would all just be gags and slice of life, but there's a surprising amount of action and an underlying plot that I'm excited to see resolved. I love the different dynamics in the class, and it's almost like one piece and my hero academia had a strangely demonic child. The whole class evolves as the story goes on and I highly recommend reading the manga.

I’m not sure what made me want to give this show a chance but when I watched it for the first time I thought it was going to be terrible. I was expecting the usual harem isekai show with an OP protagonist and obnoxious amounts of fan service.
As I kept watching though, the show began to surprise me. It was funny and cute, the characters were likeable, and most of all there was an interesting plot and decently written romantic subplots that didn’t make you angry at the characters or take away from the main story. Like honestly I was gearing up to hate Clara because I thought she was going to be one of those characters who are so energetic to the point of annoyance or that we were going to have to hear about her crush on Iruma all the time. But by the end, her character interaction and genuine hilarity really grounded her for me into one of my favorite characters.
Overall nothing in this series felt particularly forced or contrived do to the series being unexpectedly ironclad with its own internal logic. Even if it sets up something that seems like just another a joke we get serious follow through. The crack gets taken seriously and I absolutely love it. We even have some fun world building like demons doing a 666 sign instead of a peace sign. Honestly it’s a genuinely a fun watch that I would highly recommend.

It's different. ‘Iruma’ is 「入間」, ‘human’ is 「人間」, they just have *very* similar first characters.

Only two years into watching anime I'm already a jaded snob who nitpicks animation quality but I balance that with a realistic understanding of how expensive anime is to produce to come away with an appreciation for how they creatively use their budget. None of that whatsoever crossed my mind watching the first season because the show is so hilarious and the VA was so incredible it didn't even matter to me. It was good enough to earn it's right to continue it's adaptation, and honestly that's all I hoped for.
