yes when you get it on pay as you go you can still go on internet but it's not free al the time. For it to coonect to the internet free you must connect it a WI-FI hotspot (they usually have them in cafe free but sometimes not). 3G means mobile internet which means internet which you have to pay for using your credit on your phone. Hope this helps.
The new boxes don't have everything like the one here, you get a shorter USB Cable, no tv output. You have to buy the extra accessories..but you do get the plectrum n the headphones set.
@annelou28 get the X6 its an 5800 evolution its a multimedia phone and the speaker is loud and clear... the games that you can download for this phone are like iphone games...
I had this phone back in 2009 - and it was the last Nokia phone I had. It wasn't bad, in fact I loved it - but then the iPhone charmed me. Although the touchscreen could have a better tactile feel.

Was the 5800 XpressMusic Nokias first touch screen ? Anyway very solid phone e Gave it up for the HTC Desire in mud 2010 . The 5800 went to my 11yr old cousin. Funny thing was my Desire started randomly restarting end of the year when as far as I know the 5800 is still chuggng away. Crazy just 4 yrs later and Nokia is being bought by microsoft

3mp is JUST FINE man. remember its all about the lens, not the megapixels and with nokia and their carl ziess lens, you will always get quality pics. i got the n900 and it has a 5 mp cam, but 3mp is just fine for me.

@Ciopy im not sure try looking on the nokia website.. or have a look at a phone repair shop near you.. try the ones that arent well known cause they will be a lot cheaper.. but i asume it will be about £30 ? i may be wrong thats just a guess.
The phone's manual says that it supports the Ad-hoc mode. If I have a notebook with WLAN turned on - should it be possible to connect the phone with the notebook and use its internet connection?
@usblg4gb its less than that.. in the vodafone shop where i got mine itr has gone down to erm ether £170 or £180 but you have to buy £10 top up so it will be ether 190 or 180
It got resistive screen so it wont be as respnsive as the iPhones capasitive one for example, but I have no negative things to say about resistive screens, remember it dont support multi touch though.
@theanimal79 yeah when it first came out i got everything that was in that box then i lost it and bought it again 6 months later and i never got the pouch or av cord and the usb was tiny and i couldnt use it properly but i still had all that stuff from the first time i got the phone i just lost the phone.

why do you have to remove the stylus pen in order to open the back cover? i open it without removing the stylus...is it going to damage the phone or something?

I have got a 5800 Blue and with the new v52 software update this runs smooth as silk.
Its easy the best,most reliable phone ive ever had.I love it.

Gone are the days when phone manufacturers put in so much effort in packaging with their premium models and stuff as many accesories as they can.
And the one in this video wasn't even a premium model. :D Nokia 5800 did cost only about 350€ and at the same time Nokia's flagship N96 cost over 700€

Watching this in 2018! I still have my Nokia 5800 next to my Samsung Note 8~ My very first touch-screen phone back in the day next to my newest.

Nokia 5800 xpress music is a good mobile phone, i m used this mobile phone 4 years its a good mobile phone.

Sound quality on this phone is nice because of dedicated sound ship. It has bass unlike other nokia phones.

I believe you don't have to, if I remember correctly. All I did was detect the network, put the security code of the wifi network and you're set

You're right about the wifi.. but 5800's camera really is better: it has carl zeiss lens and a better flash.
