My dad was a high school teacher and the director of all of the plays and musicals. I was in many of his plays and it was the best time of my life singing these songs. At 56 yrs old I wish I could join a cast of this production just to sing these songs with others again. It was the best time of my life.
The cast complimented each others voices so well on this '73 movie. They could truly harmonize! great acting and choreography as well...It was fun watching Joanne and Merrell sing together

I was in elementary school when this movie came out. I remember some teens playing the movie's songs on their guitars. I felt closer to God watching movies like Godspell and Jesus Christ Super Star than I ever did attending a church. These types of movies were more appealing to children because of the music and the modernized characters.

The Phantom of the Paradise ... I'm doing the revival for my schools musical. I guess it may be bigoted but I prefer the revival because it's more upbeat and has stronger vocals. In any case, what I'm getting at is you shouldn't just go around calling it crappy. I get it though. I really do. you're a hipster for musicals but some people adore the revival.
