What turned me off the Vulcan was the old spec parallel twin engine used, Kawasaki do have a similar but smoother engine available but $chose$ not to give us that better engine.
Its a fine bike...its not a GSA or a Hyabusa, it doesn't try to be. had mine 3 years with plenty touring eg Spain/Portugal - 3000 miles no vibes and no suspension complaints. Averages 67 mpg uk and I just love it.
Nice review :) looking into changing my sport tourer for this during the summer (better hurry up) You mentioned that this bike was a bit boring (?), what would be an good alternative in your mind? My previous bikes in order Yamaha Bolt (felt to small in size) Kawasaki z1000sx (got hit by a car) Yamaha Tracer 900GT (current) I agree that to many fancy modern stuff can take away from the joy, my Yamaha now has almost everything included speed cruise control. And I don’t really need to pay attention to what gear I’m in.. it’s just .. boring to me now
Don't expect it to be as smooth as your Tracer but please appreciate that it is a completely different type of bike. For a parallel twin the power delivery is smooth and linear but perhaps the most incredible quality of this bike is its flickability. I had never ridden a cruiser that could handle better than a naked bike before but this one can. Another plus is the simplicity of the bike ... so little to go wrong. Through experience I have discovered that the more electronic features you have the more things there are that can go wrong. Some people think that mid-engined and smaller bikes are boring. In reality, when you're off the motorway, they are actually more fun as you can get more out of the engine rather than getting stuck in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Ride safely.
If you are looking for a fun cruiser style bike you might also want to check out the CMX1100 from Honda, just as reliable as Kawasakis but obviously a much bigger engine but still handles nicely.
I've been thinking real hard on buying a Vulcan S but after watching this, I don't know if it's right for me. Just how bad are the vibrations at 60 MPH when in sixth gear?
I rode a Versys 650 and it was one of the smoothest engines i've ever been on. It was used and broken in , I rode in the city in stop and go traffic and hit the highway doing 70-75mph for half a hour and never thought anything about it being unsmooth , it was almost too tame frankly.
Good stuff!seems like a good bike,as you'd expect from kawasaki. Im not into this style of bike, but if i were i would give it a go.always liked the indian tbh though.
@@DSR1YT when i had my drz delivered, they had one in the van and it was stunning.looks mean as hell.not sure who deals with them locally?im sure you could find one to review or i could review it for you while you rode some harley or something?just a thought mate!🤣

Looking at Kawasakis A2 compliant list its strange because the Z650, ninja 650 and versys 650 are all on there, but not the Vulcan. Maybe you will need to get it restricted to make it A2 compliant. Hope that helps.
@@DSR1YT thats an incredible weak argument. the road can say 100mph u still dont see whats around the corner. U can speed safely at 200km/h as long as your vision is clear
@neila7169 Coming from the man that is safely speeding at 200kmh because his vision is clear. Good one. Just to help you out, it should be ' Yes, until you hit a child.'
I've watched a lot of videos on the Vulcan S. Yours is the first to cpmplain about thr suspension. The Vulcan S is not a sport bike so the suspension is softer for cruising. You also didn't care for the tamed power. But it is not a V-Twin full of torque engine. It is a in-line two cylinder. It comes alive about 6000 rpm to 9000 rpm. I think the Vulcan S is a great bike because I'm sick and tired of what people call character, which is really THUMP THUMP THUMP and CHUG CHUG CHUG. Give me that smooth running 650cc Kawasaki. I am sick of Harleys and Harley want to be bikes.
So because I’m the only person to say it it’s not true?? Maybe I’m heavier than the other reviewers and so I put my stress on them? Enjoy your Vulcan. If it makes you happy what does it matter what someone else thinks of it?
What turned me off the Vulcan was the old spec parallel twin engine used, Kawasaki do have a similar but smoother engine available but $chose$ not to give us that better engine.
That would have been good to have a smoother engine.
A smoother engine would be a welcome addition to this bike for sure.

Pretty noticeable mate, only suggestion is get booked in for a test ride.
I don't know about at 60 MPG..😄 but at 60 kph is quite noticeable. (I'm in NZ)

I’m planning on getting the Vulcan do I need to restrict it for an a2 or not dealership said it ain’t compliant for a2
Yes, you need to tune it down to 35 kw.

@infoust must be restricted then mate
Also consider that the Vulcan S has no slipper clutch making it a little uneasy when doing sudden downshifts.
