@@TillysAdventures I think the simplest thing im seeing out of you, is to add some tilt, and simplify your backswing release combo, might be a little too much variance there, but you have a ton of potential as a power bowler. but yeah, take your time between shots, think positive, take your time, hit the spares. a series is a marathon is what helps me bowl my best. good luck out there! and dont forget, those patterns are hard af.

I have bowled on 32 ft Wolf for four straight weeks in Sport League. Most people think urethane is the answer but I have found urethane just creates carrydown very quickly, stretching the pattern and making it harder to play. I found it was much better to use a low flare resin ball with a short pin and 500 grit and start as far right as possible right up the 3 board. The shot then does not carrydown as much and eventually gets better and better requiring very minor adjustments over the set. Good series though on a tough pattern. Having fun on these crazy patterns is one of the keys to doing well on them. Once you start thinking you are a pro in the finals of the US Open then your performance will start suffering.
Did get that feeling with urethane. It’s good for a bit then it either too much or not enough. Thought about using my plastic next time I play on it. Tested it on cheetah probably not again. Started good and then just completely quit hooking and buffed ball hurt the spares shots.🤦♂️ I don’t have a low flare but should have tried my DarkWeb. As I was thinking the shinier the better. Maybe later in the block. Had to do some jumping as wasn’t making the move big enough for first few brooklyns with Ghost. Needed something at least with a weaker cover or core. And those days I get ultra serious are when I falter. Breathe a bit and smile and enjoy it. My confidence goes way up and scores too.
@@TillysAdventures No urethane or plastic on these short patterns. Use short pin on resin with a ton of surface. You will be amazed at how the shot holds up and how much hit you get through the whole set. Try it. I used my short pin Carbide Tank at 500 grit at Nationals for Double/Singles and played right up 4 board for 6 straight games and did not have to move a millimeter. Cashed in both.
@@TillysAdventures urethane doesnt like to strike more than say 6 in a row, then it turns into a pocket 9 count magnet. The key is moving front thirds and using different urethanes.
but even when the urethane stops striking, you can still hit the pocket and pick up spares, the scores end up higher for thumbless bowlers usually. the strikes dont look as juicy as reactive though.
@@jaredrogers7863 If you want to use urethane on a short pattern the key is to stay ahead of the carrydown by progressive moves of target and feet to the inside as the set goes on. I was a little stuck in the beginning as I started to move left but I didn't move more because I was missing "in" a lot. I use a system for moves for when I just outside the pocket, I will move according to pin leave and be brought into pocket. There is some play with it about finding proper time to move eyes but not moving eyes isn't a bad thing. I also been noticing my outside game has got pretty weak and I think from inconsistent slide. I understand the changing balls and I'm still trying to build a system where each ball works for each other. Right now, I'm using fill shots for balls which I would move to next. Also trying to get a better understanding of when to change, like if ball is too strong or has nothing in the tank going into pins. The problem I'm running into is that every pattern looks different on reactions. I also might be starting too far right or left and not building on a decent line to pocket. Going to come more with familiarity with balls and which way to go from my benchmark ball. In upcoming videos I did have some rougher nights. Where eventually I think I have too much of one core (Gasmask...Black Widows)...So I have a Symmetrical and Asymmetrical on the way (not going to spoil the balls yet). With the hand I'm in the mindset to stay straighter up back and I have tips to adjust how ball reacts for sport patterns. With THS I noticed it is best to be around the ball a bit more. I try to get my hand the same all day other than maybe an adjustment of the hand to see if the ball is better with a sharper or smoother turn into pocket. As I move left, I have the option to have a bigger ball or weaker cover to best go through pins. Yes, my frustration does speed up my game or slows it down too much where I become controlling and not free swinging. Slowing down is good but don't take too long as your mind gets involved. Develop the pre-shot routine and stay consistent. Thanks for the advice and opportunity but I currently have a coach, Jordan Nassberg from ASU. It is tough being the other side of the world. Time difference is so fun. While I'm bowling most are sleeping or just getting up lol. All the first ball and second ball systems are from him. I have been with him for about 3 months and have increased average on sport 20 pins. And 30 pins on THS. And we are slowly advancing my game. After this night we did work on opening me up more and now I don't miss "in" really at all. My practice sessions haven't been where I want them to be. Trying to get more time allotted for me to do my big 10-15 game sessions. I love bowling and encourage others to play as it is a very rewarding and humbling sport. Always good people out there on the lanes, who just want to have fun and shoot good.
Appreciate the chronicling of the mental struggle. We all go through it.
Kind of humbling too…knowing it ain’t going to come easy some days and got to work for it. There is always something we can get better at.

6 boards is way too much, 2 is more than enough to get a new front third
