  • Our exhibiting artist, Allison Katz, discusses her practice with Nottingham Contemporary’s director Sam Thorne.
Tracing connections between language and creative practice, Katz explores painting as conversation. In this talk, the artist discusses important literary references in her work, and her painterly attempts to achieve verbal and visual ambiguity.
Allison Katz is a Canadian artist based in London. For more than a decade, Katz has been exploring painting's relationship to questions of identity and expression, selfhood and voice. Recent solo exhibitions of her work have been held at MIT List Visual Arts Center, Boston; Grundy Art Gallery, Blackpool; The Approach, London; and Kunstverein Freiburg. Her work was recently included in group exhibitions at Fondation Carmignac, Bonner Kunstverein, Bonn; Palais de Tokyo, Paris; Tate St. Ives.
