This is my Juliette Has A Gun Not A Perfume Fragrance Review video. So when is a perfume Not A Perfume? Here in Juliette Has A Gun's Not A Perfume fragrance from 2010 which is basically using the only note of cetalox a type of ambroxan created by Firmenich. This is a very clean, fresh, woody, musky minimalistic fragrance for the folks that want to wear perfume but not attract any attention. What is Cetalox?
Ambergris or grey amber is very expensive and so Cetalox which is basically ambroxan was created by Firmenich to substitute for ambergris in perfumes. Typically Cetalox is perfectly paired with florals and orientals but here it takes center stage and you have this Minimalist, Fresh and Clean fragrance, totally non-offensive and is entirely allergen-free as Cetalox is a synthetic note that’s to replace Ambergris in perfumes.

I wore this to a baptism recently from a sample i got , lovely fragrence for events or occasions where you don't really want to be the centre of attention. 👍
I have a co-worker who wears this and it’s ALoT stronger then what people think. It has great sillage.
I have been struggling to find a scent that speaks to me; I tried this in Sephora and received so many compliments. Also, as I am due to work with patients in a clinic setting, the hypoallergenic quality is key!!

This is my absolute favorite from Juliette has a gun line. I also love their vanilla vibes and Moscow mule.
A very interesting perfume. When I bought Lady Vengeance, the seller give me some samples of Not a Perfume and recommend to spray it before Lady Vengeance, as a booster. Ans it's true : the notes of Lady Vengeance project more, the diffusion is more airy, I don't know how to explain.
I love ambrosian on Baccarat Rouge 540 because it gives this special type of diffusion, the fragrance goes very far but not overwhelming, you're surrounded by the scent, but it stays evanescent. I think that's the power of Ambroxan.

I own it. I wear it. I layer it. I love it. It smells clean, crisp, sexy and pure. It is not a perfume. It is a scent. Just a scent. On some it does not smell at all and those people in fact don't get the magic of it. On others it smells divine. Every skin is different indeed. (Not participating in the giveaway here, just answering your questions.)
My signature scent is Juliette Has a Gun Not a Perfume mixed with Atelier Vanille Insensee. So good! What's your favorite fragrance to mix with it?
@G F it smells insanely strong when I smell it on myself, but when I've sprayed my husband's skin, absolutely nothing! It is so odd.
@G F totally! I smell absolutely nothing with Molecule 01 & 02 on myself. I was bummed, because I was so excited to get the discovery set, thinking it may be a Not A Perfume alternative.

Have not tried Not a Perfume but have used a formulation with ambroxan as the only note. I imagine Not a Perfume would also work well as a layer to enhance other fragrances (I do this with my ambroxan, and also with Molecule 01)
I just bought it and it is divine! Will wear it a lot! It is one note it is minimal as you were saying but is heavenly soft.
I got a bottle today for Christmas and it literally smells like nothing. I sprayed it on heavily and nothing. Glad I didn't but it.

I got a sample of this and sprayed it on my wrist after a shower. Strangely, my German Shepherd dog came over straight away and started smelling my wrist and trying to lick it. He has never reacted that way to any of my perfumes before, it must be something about the Cetalox that attracted him. This (not a) perfume smells quite sweet and clean on my skin. Not sure I’d get a full bottle but it was interesting to try it out

I'm a huge fan of Molecule02 and it works like a charm with my skin and chemistry. What I want to know, compared to Molecule02, is it better or not?
IMHO they're both as good as each other, both unisex. JHAGNAP is a little more floral but not enough to be regarded as feminine.
I have this and I also have Molecule 02. I love both but I perceive Molecule 02 as sweeter, which is why I could not wear it if I had a headache.
Not a Perfume, on the other hand, is not too sweet. It’s sexy but also comforting. It reminds me a lot of the base notes of D&G Light Blue for women, which makes NAP less unique in my eyes, and that’s a shame.
I love it none the less!
Safely landed on light smell........Moscow Mule was much hyped but I don't like it n not this house anymore coz I feel there are much greater fragrances out there to smell great....tats my personal view....
Have not tried this, but starting an office job after many years, this might just work, and allergy free. Really nice review, I might search this out at sephora, and am curious a bit it instead of ambergris

I bought it because I loved it. But stopped wearing it because to me it became too overwhelming 😁😁 Isn't it strange? I now wear it for special occasions only and wear a Victoria's secrets freshy perfum for every day use. People are so different!
Not a perfume is in my top 5, cetalox is great
I tried it at Sephora it has a strong alcohol opening. Then, it settles into a jasmine like scent with a mild sweetness.

Not a perfume is amazing. Since a full bottle purchase two months ago it had become a daily wear for me. As stated in the video this is perfect for the office or layering with other scent. Very much so love this one

@@helenalovelock1030 ambroxan is intended to be a replacement for ambergris , and I would very much consider it base note. That said amber, vanilla, benzoyl , Carmel and rose would all make wonderful blends. I would say the scent is very linear and doesn’t change much too.

Update: I've tried it & I swear it turns to the scent of Orange 🍊 blossom on my skin?! But with a woodsy edge. I think a really like it. Anyone else? What does it smell like on other people?

On my skin, this smells a lot like Escentric 02, and Molecule 02 just a bit. Doesn’t make sense going by the notes, but there you go. Love it a lot, by the way

I really wanted to like this “perfume”, had tried it several time in testers now but it smell like sweet nothing on me and even that faint scent is gone in about an hour. I guess it’s just not for me.

I feel like the best smell is the scent of a fresh bath. If someone would bottle Irish Spring's Moisture Blast or Jason's Rosewater in a perfume that would be awesome. I feel like Amazing Grace by Philosophy is better and half the price of Not a Perfume.

I wonder how cetralox smells im curious cause when they say ambroxan is synthetic ambergris I dont understand that because its absolutely nothing like ambergris not at all I mean they cant come up with something closer than that 🤔

That's because it's not a perfume.
I prefer drinking alcohol not having my skin smell like it. Same reaction on my skin.

I fail to see the point wearing this kind of fragrance, most perfume these days are so poor performing and safe that they make this kind of perfume and molecule 01 etc completely redundant.

Actually I haven't tested it yet, but I like Molecule 01. I don't like Molecule 02, because I find it too intense and sweet and tiring for my brain.
