I'm pleased to hear that considering how tall you, as I am, that you can get along with the bike with ease. I've been looking for a commuter bike for some time that's cheap to run, looks nice, practical, and has a good reputation. Watching your video has convinced me now to role the Bandit into the shed and begin its strip down and restoration while I go for a Tracer. Thanks!
I can't believe you found it comfortable being the size you are, after wanting to test ride one for ages i got to demo one last month after 30 minutes the seat felt like it was pushing my ass forward and the bars felt so close that they were pushing me backwards almost like i had Trex arms lol, so altogether not comfy at all which surprised me and I am only 5'8! for what it is i found the engine, brakes and suspension fine. Sat on the the mt09 tracer when i got back and that fitted me a treat
Hi Spicy, I thought that was a really good review. Covering different roads and riding styles, it seemed a very balanced analysis. I am particularly pleased as I'm about to buy one !!!!
Love this bike had one for 4 months now use it every day being fat the suspension has never been an issue . Also the bolts don't line up at the rear I tried it only 2 closest to the tail light are the same width you will need a tail tidy if that's the way you wanted to go since mine lives on the motorway I don't see the point in changing it
I've just bought a 2018 Tracer which has adjustable rear shock. Incidentally I will be using it on all of those roads in this review. I can't wait, I'm glad I seem to have made a good choice for a change. BTW mine has a centre stand.
You're totally right with the suspension thing, it is bouncy on bumpy roads. The brakes are getting a bit spongy when riding passes hard. A weak spot can be the seat when riding longer distances. For some it's working fine, I sometime got a really sore arse.
This looks like a bike would like to ride when I get my full license, I'm strongly heading towards another supermoto because I love supermotos a lot. But I also love the adventurer bikes, something that's able to go long distance and go off road is what I want. This review is great, I love the look of the MT-07 Tracer it's going on my list of bikes to test when I have a full license :D
spicy110 yeah I'm gunna do one more CBT next summer then when I'm 24 I'm going to go for the full license so I'll check out DAS. I'll look forward to watching the MT09 Review :)
Yamaha is working on a proper off-road adventure bike based on the MT07 (so is KTM based on the upcoming Duke 700 platform). MCN did a report on it a while back. I believe due out in 2018/19.
Unfortunately the suspensions on some Yamaha bikes is not up to scratch. You have two options 1) new for springs (cheap option) 2) Andreani kit Or get it set up for ur own weight and ridding style
Horrifically under damped .... thats the issue with the suspension. Same as the pre 2018 MT07. Being honest the revised suspension of the 2018 MT07 is better - but it's still not great compared to other 2018 bikes of the same price range. Thankfully there are plenty of very good aftermarket options that really sort the problem out 😉
Hi Spicy, just been watching this video as I’m looking to step up to my A2 shortly. I’m looking at this bike to get, but am torn between this and a Kawasaki Vulcan 650. I’m 6’7 and am finding it very hard to find a good bike that I can have some fun on. Also to help you with your recommendation it will be my daily commuter
I had a test ride on this one yesterday. i was expecting soooo much from it (due to the reviews from all the motorcycle channels on youtube) but maaaaan my disappointment was huge :/ in the videos they alway said that my honda nc is so much worse but NO it isn't. the only thing the tracer 700 has is a little bit more of power and a little bit better brakes everything else is cheap and fills like it. beginning from the indicators to the fearing. was seriously considering to buy this bike to replace my honda nc750x. but now??? Nooooo way
sepotter2 not in my opinion, the only thing the tracer has it’s engine, everything else is cheap/bad/not as good as hondas. The plastics are cheap, the suspension is bad, chassis is not the best and many other things. It’s not only my opinion, I heard many people say this. Don’t understand me wrong, I don’t wanna dis Yamaha or anything, in fact I’m considering to buy the new Tenere 700 (of course not if it’s gonna be as bad as the tracer 700)
This might be a strange question but I have just got one of these bikes, I wasn't planning on buying one and if I was I would get a regular MT07 but this one was a great deal off a friend so I would have been silly to not buy it, my question is the regular MT07 doesn't have the ferring plastics on the front and its head light seems to be closer to the forks, would I be able to take off these plastics and head light and install the one of the regular MT07 making it look like a regular MT07 as I much prefer the looks of the regular one
When you did the SV650 review, you said you wanted to see how it compared to the MT07. I'm interested to know your thoughts and recommendation between the MT07 and SV650 for a beginner rider?? I'm considering these bikes along with the Ninja 650.
+Hunters1515 next year I hope to go to Germany, I would be happy to do it on my XJ6 but if I could take anything maybe a gs1200 or even a vstrom1000, big comfy bikes for munching miles and carrying all your gear.
there is to difrent center stands SW motec center and HEPCO&BECKER center stand for around 200 euros and fit the tracer 700 and mt 07 AND a few different types of exhaust like the Akrapovic TI, akra carbon,Hiroshima exhuast, tec, stock, and many more...
I don't think any 'road' bike would be especially good on those little bumpy country roads. Everything I've heard about the MT07T has been positive, but they can look a bit shabby rather quickly (the matt black stuff in particular), which is a shame as it's a decent looking bike.
Must say, the Tracer 900 looks better xD Got a very very nice exhaust as well to be honest. Suspension isn't adjustable? The 900 was if i remember correctly,
spicy I'm the same height as you, on the Mt-07 my knee caps dig into the crease on the top of the tank. does this bike have the same tank design or do you get more leg room?
MitchMAH I’m guessing with the higher seat height and overall bigger length, height, width they’d definitely sit different to the MT07 I’m 6 foot 3 and was dying to get a MT07 but I’m hanging off to test ride a tracer, more fuel capacity, same engine, bigger, and nicer/bigger front for us tall ones
@@k77hnt13 i ended up going with the XSR700. it was a tough choice. all the Yamaha 700 bikes are well designed and that engine is great. Your going to enjoy that test ride
It seems like there are more and more new bike models being released, with less and less uniqueness about them. It's as if they have invented a way to release a bike with the least amount of effort and R&D required and are all cast from the same mould. MT07, 09, XSR7, 9, Tracer 7, 9... is it just me or are they all the same bloody bike?
spicy110 but hasn't the sticky pad got to be on for a few hours until you can mount the camera ? Asking as I what to try it but the handle bar mount doesn't fit on any part of my bike and I don't what to get the sticky pad stuck on the plastic if I want to remove it
+captainengland haha nope tho after a while I tend to make friends there. Short answer is I am a UA-camr it's my job. The loan of the bike to them is well worth the publicity in return.
@@spicy110 yeah well i just bought the MT 07 and did consider this bike but didn't wanna pay the extra £1000 , especially with all the added costs that come with a higher cc bike than the 125 i had before
It's a great bike, however the quality of the finish and alot of the minor parts is absolutely horrible. If you ride all year round even with regular cleaning your bolts, fittings, coolant pipes etc will all go to hell. Had mine 10 months, had several parts replaced already under warranty, and bear in mind this is WITH FS365/ACF50.
CharlieJr True if the engine is in the same state of tune, torque band/power delivery wise as the standard MT07. There's so much choice these days that it needs to be good fun as well as being practical. So many bikes now do both.
Proper competition between this and the Versys 650. Smashing little review

Riding the black version since february. Love this bike.

The MT07 mirrors are great, so much so that when I rode my dad's MT I decided to grab some and put them on my CBF 125.
Per usual , we can't even get this bike in 'Merica yet... usual awesome Spicy review..
Crazy licensing laws. When I did my test I was with a couple of 22 year olds. They went on the 500 when I had the 600. Seemed daft.
