Me watching this video:😃 My ball python from its enclosure:😶
Best explanation and demonstration every. I have learned so much from your videos. Thanks from Scotland
Matt, I can't tell you how many videos I've watched on this subject. I've had in-person "teaching" and while I can pop okay, I can't pop quickly. My problem? I don't feel like squishing the snake to death; As a guy who's not very small (muscular/weight wise; height wise is a WHOLE different story) I have been hesitant to do much pressure for fear of hurting the snake. Showing the scale was brilliant! I took your weight, and used my scale to figure out how much pressure that was from me - went to snake and BOOM! popped first try. Brilliant video brother!
I love your sense of humor. The title, the introduction, just... yes. My friends might think I'm weird for looking at animal genitals so much of the time, but tbh I think they just don't know what they are missing. ;)
edit: my boyfriend played a joke on me and changed the title of the video and refreshed the page after I commented. ROFL.
Please don't change just because of UA-cam
I have to follow the ambiguous rules they set (which have now demonetized this video for the second time) but I don't change because of them. Life yes, UA-cam no
@@OlympusReptiles well said man
Informative as always thanks Matt so much for all the knowledge you drop.
I really like the use of the scale, it at least gives people a reference of pressure. People can try that at home first and realize that they don't have to blow the back end out of a snake to do this properly.... Great great video guys!!
It took awhile to come up with that idea. I have been asked to do a sexing video multiple times for over a year and refused because I couldn't think of a good way to show the pressure in video. Pretty proud of the scale udea
Hey Matt, Bro I appreciate your channel and because of you my wife and I have decided we want to breed these beautiful animals also. Your an awesome guy and we love your channel.
Awesome! Literally called a vet last week to see if I could take my 3 “balls” in to sex. I was told that the doctor said he did not have the right tools to do that. That seemed weird as I have seen a couple videos on sexing and never saw a tool used. Now I don’t think he’s the right vet to see for my reptiles. Such a great way to demonstrate the amount of pressure. Thanks Matt and crew!!Time for sexing!
He probably uses a probe, which is also an accurate way of sexing
finally!!
I've been waiting all night for your video mate!
omg you just saved my life, i am going to sell some bp's, i know they are 1.2 but i forgot wich was wich, thanks for saving me both money and my reputation
this guy sounds like the fun dad
Lol, but I don't have any kids
Great video! Very informational.
I know this is an older video. But huge thanks!! So helpful for sexing the rescue I just picked up.
Thank you so much this was extremely informative I'm subscribing 👍
Love this vid, the scale was a great idea. Thanks 👍
Thank you! the scale helped a lot to get an Idea
Thank you for this video it really helps so much. I am new and I want to learn.
3200 pounds. Gotcha!
Awesome video!
Your videos are sooooo helpful !!
Youre so fun to watch and you make that look so easy.
Think mine is broken. My gal has been squeezing for years and it's still exposed. Hasn't retracted yet.
There is actually some videos on that. We don't want your female to be unhappy it's whole life...
Ooooo I'll be back after I light some candles and get a hot bath ready!!
Great video Matt. I still have an issue with it from time to time because of arthritis and tendinitis
Good day, Matt,
I am fixing to get my first snake in the spring. I appreciate your videos, I feel that I have learned a lot and will be a better snake keeper because of you and other dedicated snake enthusiasts who post on UA-cam.
I was wondering if you would consider doing a video for first-time snake owners choosing an individual snake? I have found a lot of information on choosing the best species, finding a good breeder, where to get snakes etc. What I would like to know more about is choosing the individual snake. For example, I have already decided on a ball python and I am doing research and have a “must have” list of things to purchase for its set up and care. I have decided on getting a female because they are bigger and I want to spend enough to get a snake that is showier then a wild-type, (my price range is up to about $550) I want to get a snake that will be big and beautiful, will look good as an adult, that I can handle, and I would like to feed frozen thawed. I’m not sure what morph to look for, I don’t care for the dots on bananas, (no offense to Bananas) and I like striking colors and patterns, both light and dark. I want to find a snake that will eat well and grow to a good size and that has a temperament that won’t get stressed from handling.
Thank you again, Betty Morgan
I say pied or BEL. Can't go wrong with either.
@@OlympusReptiles Thank you, Pied and Bell are both morphs i was considering, also Ultramel and Clown. Are some Morphs easier to tame and feed?
I just like your channel straight up, I just love snakes
Aww, your snakes are adorable! I have a standard one, a brown with light spots and a fading to a white at their belly. Im trying to use this to tell their gender, because i don't know if Hazel would be a right name for my snake if it is a male. They're a sweetheart, would nevet bite anyone. They're afraid of their mice sometimes, but we make sure the mice don't harm themselves or Hazel before Hazel gets their meal
That GHI/Mojave girl is gorgeous
Explained perfectly love it man thanks
Bro you've changed allot since UA-cam has complained about your channel
Really? I am curious how. Not saying your wrong but curious what the Change is. They still complain about my channel lol. I can promise any change wasn't from that, but changes do happen
@@OlympusReptiles you just seem different I don't know why but yea
Wait what were the complaints
@@MTGHOKAGE UA-cam Complained to Olympus Reptiles to stop Uploading Live Feeding videos
It's funny this is so true and alot of breeders need to watch it. I personally will not buy a snake at the show unless my buddy sexes it for me I have witnessed him find tiny piens on a male that was being sold as a female multiple times.
Hey lol i been trying to find out if you'll be going around the reptile expo soon and will you be coming to dallas
Matt and Olympus crew... I love you guys... I really do. This is one of the best videos y'all have ever done. I wish I could like this video a thousand times. Thank y'all
Great video. I do have a question about popping. How likely are you to harm your snake during the popping process and if so what injury could occur?
You can, if you use too much pressure. Can injure the hemipeins or the spine
Hi Matt I know this is an older video I don’t even know if you’ll see this but I am currently buying racks from Eric at TGR I was just wondering as far as adult female ball pythons what is the max size tub you use in your reptile room?
I use fb70
Awesome that’s what I figured but thank you. And make sure you tell Eric at TGR he is getting all of my business thanks to you! Also hope to be buying a few snakes off of you in the next year, Would be buying now but need to have racks for the snakes I’m getting LOL
i got a question! do snakes ever get uncomfortable or angry when they get sexed, or do they stay pretty calm? very informative video, by the way!
incredible!
Very interesting Matt. l have a great knack of sexing snakes just by looking at their tail ends Have l got it wrong yet, nope not yet but that is not to say l will always get it right.
Thank you so much info
This was a great video
Is it possible to check this way on a snake that was just shipped? I just can't get it on the 1 year old male I just bought, nothing comes outta the vent at all. But I tried it on a Craigslist snake I was considering buying and they popped out instantly. Does the snake being tense prevent it working?
Makes it harder
How many females can you breed in one season with the same male.
Hello again Matt,
I'd like to ask your opinion about my philosophy as a BP hobbyist:
I'm going the opposite direction of everybody else and I'm taking it back 2 decades in the hobby!
I want to repeat history and prove myself that I can work on these morphs and do Killer Blasts, Tigers, Phoenixes, Pewters and Pastaves.
The Ball Pythons don't know if they are worth 100 bucks or 1000$ :S
I just like to take care of them: feed them, tub maintenance, play with them, show them to friends, etc...
Im doing a mix of both I love old morps so im making cheaper morphs hut im working never done stuff to or not done alot
Not a bad idea at all.
Nice Video!!!
Hey! Matt, would you consider selling sobek? Also, do you have a facebook page? Thanks! let me know
Not a chance in hell I sell sobek. Yes olympus Reptiles is on Facebook
This was incredible. I was never able to figure it out until now so thank you!!!
Which do you prefer as a sexing technique pop or probe? I see you pop them but do you probe as a check or do you think probing is unnecessary/not as accurate?
I pop. I don't probe. Reason is I am not as good/comfortable with it, so I fear injuring the snake. Either works though
I want one something from you guys
So a female can have a really tiny dot of red right
can, but usually not to much
I just left this so you would have 100 comments lol
Thank you!
Thanks for the heart! Although i have a question as to how i should best handle a situation, yesterday I went to a reptile show and bought a ivory male ball python and I thought everything checked out, still kept him separate from my other BP though, well today I was checking him over a bit when I noticed a black dot under his chin that turned out to be a mite, now I know they didn't come from my snake because I check him weekly. And not from another booth because I only held snakes from their booth that day, I plan on contacting the breeder tomorrow but what sort of reply should I look for from them? Also when I check their reviews I don't see anyone else mention mites so I'm sorta at a loss here
Bro I was doing a step-by-step and applied 3200 pounds on my snake. It’s eyeballs popped up is that normal?
Did you also obliterate your own hand?
I tried it on my baby ball python and it just squirted. It looked kind of pink.
My wifey is watching me and thinkung tagt in stupid but seh is dumb LOL hahahahaha im dead Bruh
Nice ball
Will ball pythons fully hatch by themselves or do you have to cut them?
Either works.
🌟
What’s up with that crazy clutch 17?
Info coming soon
Good info brotha been wanting to sex my snakes but kinda afraid to over apply pressure but this explained it. Question though at what age or weight if any should the snakes be if there is such a thing or can i sex them now got one at 120g and two at 80g so pretty small still just wondering if i should wait or not for them to get a little bigger?
You can. The smaller ones will take less pressure
I just tried to but it won't open
The cloaca? Little more pressure probably. But if unsure, find local help
Thx its a girl i name her. 不思議=Fushigi
@@OlympusReptiles Hey Matt, do you put the same amount of pressure on both sides with each hand?
Thank you just got me a bp the other day now i can find what sex it is
🤘🤘🤘
My snake watching this with me, knowing I’m going to violate her: 👁👄👁
It’s a boy :) Thank you
3200lbs made me laugh my ass off 🤣🤣
Didn't know snakes have 2 penises.
Almost every ball python I have obtained from a non reputable breeder the sex has been wrong lol. Sometimes in my favor sometimes not but this is important to know how to do
Great video however no one should be trying this on there own if they dont know how to pop they need to find someone with experience to teach them if they do it wrong it will hurt the snake bad just my opinion though
Learning in person is best, and how I did it. However, not everyone has that chance. What I thought was hard to get on video was the pressure and the feel. Which is why we used the scale. But, if someone can get a hands on always much better
@@OlympusReptiles I agree 100% I've just seen people try instead of getting help and hurt the snake really bad I forget sometimes it's hard finding someone with knowledge I live in GA and we have a lot of breeders good point though either way great video love educational videos not enough of them in my opinion
I have a friend that thinks she knows everything about snakes because she got 12 in about 4 months, anyway she got her 12 year old son to "pop" my snake and tells me I need to change name to a female name. My snake is Vlad if lays eggs later oh well
Lol!!
First
I see you're a big fan as well!!
Yep love snake
blind people watching this 😳
3200 pounds 😂
