- Time for the annual, local ploughing match which, for the last few years, is getting bigger and bigger and now has lots of trade stands.
We see horses and steam engines ploughing, an 80 year old threshing and baling machine, the usual vintage tractors, livestock parade, new, modern machinery and trade stands.

Thanks for taking us round the show Andrew it's good to see some of the old tractors i used to drive in my younger days.
The difference from then to today is incredible.
Ahh, that brings back memories of Gt Smeaton YFC ploughing matches, 3 wins in a row, and usually a tractor donated for the day by Eric Clayton.
Thanks for the update Andrew. Looks a great day out have to put it in my diary for next year. The threshing set looked interesting good to see people making the effort to keep these machines working and demonstrating how things where done in times past thanks again.
I really enjoyed it. Well worth a visit next year. Plenty to keep all ages amused, 😃👍
Encore de belles images 👁️💜💚
Another excellent video lovely to see the way things were done, here in North Tipperary we had a nice threshing last Sunday
I watched a baler running at Haddenham steam rally the other week, tied the bales off with wire like they used to. It's great to see these machines and horse still working and it'll be a sad day if it doesn't get passed down the generations!
Definitely will, that’s why I always throw horse shoes back in the field if they get hung around tines. The next generation need to know how vital horses were.
Lovely video Andrew, great to see the old machines working, local threshing machine still works around here threshing straw for thatch roofs.
That’s great, what a fantastic skill.
Thanks Andrew great video what a smashing show.
I look forward to it every year!
Good to see seeing that threshing I remember my grandad once saying they had stooks ?stood in the field they were waiting for the thresher to come then came so wet they were washing round field so nothing has changed with weather patterns 👍
Harvest weather issues haven’t changed but amazing how much the machinery has!
Thank you Andrew for taking us all along with you to the show. Not managed to get to a show locally myself, so this has made up for it. Thanks for showing the Fowler ploughing engines at work. My late father was a model engineer as well as a farm worker, and he made a pair of Fowler ploughing engines and the plough and cultivator that went with them. These models are on display at Bressingham steam Museum in Norfolk. Well worth a visit if in the area.
You should be proud of him. I love seeing the Fowler’s working.
Fantastic description of the threshing machine, thankyou. 👍👍🇬🇧
Awesome footage Thankyou. 👍👍👍🇬🇧
Shire Horse heaven. I love seeing them. 👍🇬🇧
What a fantastic insight into farming didn’t know it was such a big show/ploughing match looks like they could go for two days with everything what’s going on. one to visit next year
There’s so much going on, something for every age.
Tim Silcock doing his thing 😃
Love a good show. Don’t know why as I not that keen on horses but I would love to try ploughing with them.
Amazes me how they go so straight without GPS!!
Thank so much Andrew that was so good I'm away to watch it again many thanks 🖕
Nice to see machinery that's been restored, and also nice to see some that hasn't but is still in working order. Thanks for sharing Mr Ward.
Pleasure John. 😃👍
Would be interested to hear about your previous tractor/machinery combine history and any photos going back to your youth as obviously you now run 3 main tractors and min tillage but it t can’t have been that way for ever you must have ploughed and power harrowed once upon a time could be a good video for the quieter times in the winter!
Cracking suggestion Tim, I’ll do that. We have had some big changes!
That was an art in itself building a straw stack Always keep centre of stack higher than outside so water runs away and grain gets kept dry Best fun was ratting at end of day when they got to bottom of stack steddle
I’ve seen some videos or ratting, the terriers have a great time!
Gud video love 2 c all the old gear working and the new 👌
Me too, glad you enjoyed it.
I would not normally argue with you Mr.Ward, but a stook is the group of sheaves set up in a field in sixes, eight's or tens, the individuals are sheaves, with different names in other parts of the country.
Thank you. 👍😊
Good one 👍
My great uncle was a thatcher here in Lincolnshire and thatched many a corn stack.
Love seeing that done, a very skill full job.
Would you go back to them steam days Andrew, me personally, not bloody likely 😬
Ditto!! 4 wheels need a lot of £££’s to keep them running, 4 legs aren’t far behind!!
Great content at the show. with the price of everything we could be going back to shires 😂
It’s getting frightening. 🤦♂️
