- Yoshitomo Nara is among the most beloved and globally recognized Japanese artists of his generation. Spanning 36 years of his practice from 1984 to the present, this international retrospective gathers over 100 major paintings, sculptures, and installations as well as 700 works on paper.
In this short video curator Mika Yoshitake shares a few highlights of the exhibition as well as excerpts from her July 2020 conversation with the artist. Nara shares the story of his working process, his inspirations, his work as a catalyst for communication and shared interests, and the unanticipated inclusion of a new painting created during the pandemic that reflects a new artistic direction.

his work is just so amazing
Looking at some of this artwork and I must say it rings bells of “pizza gate” Why do we have young girls often with patches on eyes body? Is someone beating them up, I also see some sexually suggestive themes. I hope I’m wrong, but I seen some sadistic works in the art world, and I’m asking questions to seek truth and justice. May God have mercy on us all!
You are wrong.
i really love his work
展示会場の雰囲気が心地よく、自然に入っていける親しみを感じますが、小さな作品にも奥の深さに気ずかされました。
