How are you planning on over wintering, I only have various ficus atm but I'm unsure on how to keep it healthy over the winter (I don't have a shed etc).
@@wpgamingtv3726 I will keep it outside with my other bonsai , if we have a prolonged amount of freezing conditions I move them closer to the house ,trees need a dormant period and the cold makes them more hardy.I have an imported Chinese elm that I leave outside all winter no worries 👍🏻
I checked with Corin and it's OK to leave these trident maple out ,if it's going to get below freezing 🥶 for a number of weeks they are going to need a bit of shelter, not sure about ficus bonsai though you best check online
I just received a trident maple bonsai 2 days ago from a neighbor, I haven't any knowledge on bonsai nurturing. I'm hoping to learn a bit. I think it is in dormancy all the leaves are brittle on it. Watered it slightly considering to put it on the 3 season porch for the winter here in Massachusetts. Would this be a good idea? I have it indoors in a sunny window at the moment. Thank you for any suggestions
Merry Christmas Corin and all at the Bonsai Studio, I was gifted a Trident Maple featured in your video this Christmas via your website and was wondering the best position to keep it until spring. Option 1. Indoor window sil 18 -20° Option 2. Unheated conservatory 10 -15° where it currently is. Option 3. Unheated greenhouse 0 - 10° Option 4. Outside open to the elements, didn't want to shock it too much straight away? P.S. really enjoying your videos keep them coming.
Thanks for Sharing Corin! Are the mapels not bleeding if you cut them in this time of the year? Mine was bleeding and i decided to wait for spring. I want to wire my trees also but im afraid they get maybe frostdamage from the Wire?
There won't be much reaction from the tree until spring anyway. Btw, the only time when you don't want to do major pruning would be early fall, when the tree still has its foliage and should prepare for dormancy. You'd be cutting off the nutrient supply normally getting stored to fuel the spring growth next year, and you might encourage shoots to emerge below the cuts that won't have time to harden off until winter.
Hello Ben, This batch went on website when we released this video last year. They have now all sold, keep an eye out for more in a few weeks hopefully.

I have sent a message to Greenwood Bonsai asking about over wintering ,I will update when I receive a reply.
@@fletcherlewis cheers, I was thinking of getting a cold frame and packing with straw around the pot, or would that be overkill. TIA.

They actually bleed more in Spring. They don't get frost damage from wiring in winter, not in UK climate.
@@greenwoodbonsaistudio Thanks!
Hi Corin. What's the name of that sealant you use? Good video, thanks.
Lac Balsam, we have it on our website
Is it best to do this kind of work now , or can it be done next spring ? , great video Corin .
It is best done early Spring, I was doing these now to prepare them for sale

Brilliant as usual
Is this the right time of the year for rough maple pruning? Is the tree outdoor after pruning or in a greenhouse?
As I mention in video, Spring is best time, but these were being done prior to sale, into cold greenhouse after

Do you ship trees to norway? I bought pots and scissors. They arrived No problem in the mail to norway
No, I'm afraid we can't ship trees since Brexit

Yes, I would recommend doing so.
