We were also very lucky that we had our host Milica show us around as well!

    Hi guys, I loved this video as it brought back great memories from when I visited the island for the first time in the summer of '23. I was born in Australia to Australian parents but my grandparents came over from Korcula to Australia, specifically from the village of Blato. So yes there is a strong connection between Australia and Croatia, Korcula included. It makes me proud that you would recommend that this would be the #1 island to visit if you could only travel to one of the many islands in the Adriatic Sea. Safe travels and hope to see more videos about Croatia in the future!

      Hi @SardGuard, we loved Korcula! As you say there is such a strong connection with Australia. The lovely lady we were staying with pointed out all the Aussies who were coming back to the island to retire, and there were lots! Her sister was also living in Australia! We would love to return to Croatia and explore more. It is such a beautiful country. Thanks for watching!

    Mmmmm that seafood looked incredible... all of it, even the side dishes. Didn't look like too many people enjoying that water... no monks and nuns frolicking on the beach either, near the monastery, which is something I'm sure God would approve of. These are not Croatian style houses since Croatia has several very different regions with their typical types of houses. These are better described as mediterranean style stone houses with generic vermillion roof tiles.

    • @BucketListTravellers
      @BucketListTravellers  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Ve Ve, thanks for watching. You got us thinking there! Technically, we are both correct as the word "ocean" can refer to the entire body of salt water that covers approximately 70.8% of the surface of Earth whereas the specific body of water that surrounds Croatia is the Adriatic Sea. Interestingly the national anthem of our home country of Australia includes the line "our home is girt by sea" even though our country is actually surrounded by ocean! So, yes we have been taught the wrong words in school 😉

      Aahahahahahaah 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 All rivers,seas and lakes are made from oceans then,because all of them are connected to oceans and pour in into them.So rivers and lakes you call also a ocean. Why will we named it a seas and lakes and rivers and creeks,why don't just we all call it an ocean. Why even oceans have different name,lets just call all water on Earth a ocean. Lets call water itself ocean. When you are in restaurant you can say 'can I have some ocean,please'. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 You are english living in Australia. That explains a lot. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

      @@faustinoasprilja "would you like your ocean still or sparkling?" 😂😂😂 As we mentioned, ocean is salt water, so it may not be too pleasant to drink 😜
      We find it helpful to fact check ourselves before asserting that someone else is wrong. It can be an enlightening exercise and we are big fans of lifelong learning. We took our definition of an ocean from wikipedia, but if you check any dictionary you will find that our definition is correct. Lakes are by definition surrounded by land, so they are not connected to any other bodies of water. Also, not all rivers flow into the ocean.
      We think it's great that you are so passionate about geography and oceanography. They are very interesting topics.
      Just to clarify, we are not English, we are Australians. As we said, our home country is Australia.
