- I discovered Ederlezi during my university years, thanks to friends who introduced me to Gypsy Jazz and Balkan music. This song is very dear to me, so I hope I did it justice in this folk metal arrangement.

My favourite song in .. ha! IDK in which language it is .. something Balkanian I assume
The lyrics are in Romani, which is the language of nomadic people of central Europe and the Balkans. :) I personally first heard this traditional folk song in Kusturica's movie Time of the Gypsies (the music was arranged by Goran Bregovic)
@@toucam I suppose that excluding Gipsies and music ethnologists almost everybody know this song because of Bregovich.
For me this song is associated with my first hopeless/stupid/tragic love.
Music from films by Bregovich were "soundtrack for tragedy of my youth".
Sounds stupid but it was not so easy in those times.
You are not wrong my friend. Goran has made this song famous. It wasn't his first song that he pulled out from the "non copyright" pile and make it to be what we know it today. Djurdjevdan was written by somebody (Serbian to be more precise) on the death train in WW2 when they were taken to execution in Ustasa regime at that time. I don't want to be political just stating the facts. I am done with taking the sides. We are all the same shit. It is such a sad song and if you didn't listen it, I highly recommend you to do so. It is basically different lyrics on this Erdelezi melody. Greetings from Aotearoa, New Zealand
@@armyofazra1922 just listened "Par godina za nas" of EKV (I hope I wrote it correctly).
Such a strange song, so .. Jugoslavian?? Every sentence could be understood different from personal POV and global.
@@yukas1ngas yup I am a Yugo but this is my band's profile so two of us are running this channel that I am commenting from. Check the video that we did in December if you are into a bit heavier stuff. We are just making another one. Shameless self promotion I know 😉
