- As this song was recorded from afar the audio quality will always be horrendous but i tried my best. 13th Sep 1967

I own nothing, no profit is being made off of these remasters and if a request is made to take the video down i will do so no questions asked.
I want them to release everything Syd did. Gilmour has reels and they all need to release it all
think Mason has it, not Gilmour (of the Floyd stuff). i'd be happy with the Syd BBC stuff.
I am always amazed at how Syd, a man who destroyed his mind, was able to perform and create music that is still beyond today's music. Not bad for someone deemed 'weird' or 'lost'.
And the rest of Pink Floyd had something unique. Makes you wonder, if all of the Pink Floyd story, was destiny?
1960s full stop bands were able to do demos, or rough ideas, SO GOOD it proves how far down our minds, as a society have fallen.
Music IS what binds us. It is like love - something impossible to explain and IMMMORTAL.
Should’ve been included with early years box set along with corrosion and countless others. Truly experimental genius.
I think they didn't bother looking for the one existing studio recording...Not sure anyone even knows where it is. I think EMI has it somewhere...
I didn’t know there was ever a studio version of this.
they also might not have had access to the tape/thought it was too bad of quality compared to the stockholm one.
actually, something i've just noticed (which i thought warranted another comment) was that if you look in the description of a video such as this: ua-cam.com/video/38R-rozdlkY/v-deo.html
you'll see that it says "The Early Years Misc," which probably means it's still copyrighted and they are making money from it still (which is fair). but, they still haven't officially released it.
here's a video of the same (whole) concert that has the same thing in the description: ua-cam.com/video/wssajEKWwoE/v-deo.html
EDIT; also the "corrosion" I believe you mentioned actually was released on the early years, see disk four (DVD only)
Roland Petit Ballet, Paris, France, 5 December 1970
if it was actually this one instead; ua-cam.com/video/zpQXZRPwfkE/v-deo.html; see the description again and you'll see the same thing that i mentioned earlier
@@nonprofitremaster8187 Yeah, I tried asking Nick about this one and why it wasn't included in the set since there was a studio recording, never got an answer unfortunately.
Who’s bean sitting on this one, for like almost 50 bloody years. Always lovely to unearth fresh Syd...better late than never.
I'm fairly certain this song was written by Waters.
This audience tape has been around since the 1970’s, so it’s not exactly a “new” tape.
With better and better technology to EQ things, new nuances have been revealed over the last few years in terms of the sound quality.
You can only get as good as the original copy of the tape which was on a reel-to-reel. The reason that there was so much distortion present on the original tape was due to the massive volume of the PA as Floyd played LOUD in those days. Mix that in with a very small club and you don’t have the best acoustics to capture a decent recording.
It’s only this tape and the Stockholm tape for the entirety of 1967 in terms of concert recordings.
There have always been rumors of other tapes from 1966 and 1967 in the Floyd vault. There’s a rehearsal tape from 1967 (RAH? Maybe?) that had the song “Let’s Roll Another One” which made it onto a bootleg album sometime in the 1990’s.
Whatever tapes that the Floyd have, they’re obviously not releasing, otherwise it would have made it onto that massive 65-72 box set.
I have so many different files of this recording of various qualities. This one is the best I've ever heard.
Wow. First time hearing this song, really wish it was better quality, this sounds amazing
Great job! Well done, finally I can even listen to some lyrics, which have always been barely audible. And Syd's guitar too, sounds better and clearer.
This is the best quality version I've ever heard. Kudos! I think at this point, the poor quality of a PA system/speakers is the real issue. Lovely hearing the jam part tho
1) riff is a kind of precursor to Corporal Clegg
2) it's sung by Waters
3) lyrics is very Waters-ish, who always struggled with words and therefore used so-called "lists" for composing - when you repeat the same line with different endings like in final verse of Dogs or Eclipse. Barrett was much more fluent and inventive with lyrics, even on his later darker stages of mental health.
So I understand the wish of Syd fanboys for attribute him everything even remotely linked with PF (because I'm also big fan of Syd:) ) but this particular song in 99% by Waters.
That guitar though... people say Syd was more or less zonked out during this period, but this is brilliant
@@ollepettersson1710 The producer of Madcap Laughs says he wasn't zonked out at all. He said he was in great form. Knew exactly what he wanted, was focused and fun. His girlfriend said after he left Floyd he was depressed for about a month and then he was back to his old self. She said his sense of humour was like when she knew him way before Floyd. Just my opinion but I think he was maybe bi-polar and not schizophrenic.
@@RobQos I think you are right. Bipolar states were not really well-known at the time. Syd was a bipolar (BP2 for those who are interested). I am. The difference I see is that he had no retreat (recoil ?) from it. He just didn't know and was not "an intellectual" and halas I think he never had a clue about BP. Big hugs to you, Syd. People just never got it....
@@vonclohk507 A bootleg of the 12 oct. 67 concert in Rotterdam (some say 13 Nov.) states that Syd Barrett played bass on "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun". There are several versions of the full gig on UA-cam.
Yes but what makes this special is Syd's guitar player, bloody out of this world.
Also, solid restoration.
yo if your read this thank you for getting this sounding better. i wish syd and the boys would have done a studio version but god damn the guitar in this song steals the show
No problem :) Did all in my power to get it the way i imagined it. I only wish we could get to hear that one recording did in 1970? Of this song...
I don't know what you did but your remastering sounds exactly
like the one I did for it for my own pleasure. Good job. They really
should've put this on the Early Years box. If we could clean it up
a bit and make it listenable so could've they. Syd's guitar playing
on this is just tremendous.
I'm pretty sure that if they would have recorded this song then we wouldn't have had Corporal Clegg, which really sounds like what this song developed into. I guess you win some and loose some.
That guitar...Syd sounds like he's looping feedback interspersed with some very nice licks. Seems to be totally in control of what he's doing. Just stellar stuff, and he's doing it live, too!
This Song Is "She was a millonaire" and it's a Syd Barrett's Song.
"Would you like to be way loyal?
Would you like to be way down?
You'd been turning to a boy you won't be
Did they tell you you'd been heard to lie?
Round and round and round and round
You fly...
Do you want to pull the curtain down?
Mother hold'em down
I'm bound, I'm bound,
Involved and tortured!
Pretty woman hold my hand
Million, million, millionaire
Million, million, millionaire
Would you like to be where you want?
Would you like to be where you are?
Did they tell you, you were young and willing?
Did they tell you you'd been kicked a lot?
Round and round and round and round
You fly...
Would you like to be well loyal?
Would you like to be weighed down?
Did they tell you you was growin' on me?
Did they tell you you'd be little I?
Round and round and round and round
You fly...
Do you want to put the curtain down?
Mother hold him down (bad boy!)
I'm bound, I'm bound,
I'm bound and tortured!
Pretty woman hold my hand!
Million, million, millionaire
Million, million,million-aire!
Would you like to be well loyal?
Would you like to be where you are?
Did they tell you, you were young and willing?
Did they tell you You've been gigolot?
Round and round and round and round
You fly.."
Now that you've written the words here I can actually hear a 2nd, Syd's voice singing these lines, so weird like waters is singing his own lyrics over Syd's perhaps earlier, previous version? To me, I'd love to be able to listen to this song with only mr Barrerr's voice, oh how I wish that
do you have a source?
different songs.
Someone once had a really good cover they did of this song on UA-cam. Unfortunately, it’s private now.
Where does this GEM come from? Wow! A punch in the face.
I think live in the Netherlands or Sweden not sure, been a while since I heard it.... With Syd Barrett of course 😁
@@nonprofitremaster8187 Denmark, played only once. Did my research😉
@@nonprofitremaster8187 and it's sung by Waters. Wow...
@@TheBitterSweetgr No, this is Syd singing. Not Waters
@@randyrhoads9153 google claims it's Waters. Nevertheless, a real gem!
SUPER effort! Well done, thank you! :)
Anyone else like to see MADCAP LAUGHS and TERRAPIN and PIPER AT THE GATES OF DAWN remastered and re-released?
Thanks for this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No problem :D Anything for our beautiful community
Thank u so much
This is absolutely incredible. in always considered this the first goth song. Not to mention Rog's vocal debut.
Coul you do 'Stoned Alone' from the same show?
For those who say, “But they said Syd was out of his mind and he did this,” it wasn’t a linear thing. After his breakdown or whatever in July/August, he was in pretty good form during the Scandavian tour that followed. Then he fell apart again during the American tour and tour with Hendrix that followed in December. I agree with the thoughts on bipolar, and think there is something about the bipolar brain and LSD that can lead to very bad results. Peter Green and Brian Wilson may also have been similar casualties. Don’t think any of them were true schizophrenics.
We used to listen to this as a bootleg - Rotterdam, 1967.Other songs included Interstellar Overdrive, Matilda Mother(mic goes out)
Oh wow!
Would you like to be one in a million?
Would you like to be one in five?
Would you like to know all the hidden meaning?
Before they tell you you've run out of time
Would you like to be one in a million?
Would you like to be one in five?
When they tell you you ain't going nowhere
When they tell you you can't live your life.
I've found this lyrics in web...
Idk who made these lyrics (they’re in many parts of the internet) but they’re horrible. There are three verses, not two. Like how do you do that?? Also roger is singing something during the heavy guitar parts, I just have no idea what it is
Edit: here’s an attempt at writing lyrics:
Would you like to be one in a million?
Would you like to be one in five?
They tell you that hope is open
They tell you can be what you like
I can’t hear anything past the first verse, sorry
Мне очень понравилось👍
That's almost electric funeral, good early stuff
Syd Barrett was already composing music in light years styles up front, this reminds me of Oasis style music.
How about the rest of the songs from this concert? I would like to have flac files of them for my collection.
You can it's at the Star Club September 67
The Floyd did use this riff later. It morphed into Embryo. Which was also ditched on the Picnic album and the Works comp.
Nothing to do with Embryo. Why do you like to talk bulls**t?
Badass birth of punk music!
This may sound crazy but this sounds like un-distorted Electric Wizard to me. The vocals do at any rate even if it's just the audio quality
Julia Dream/Corporal Clegg
So they used the same riff for 3 different songs. Embryo.
Nivarna
Fuck that sell out band
You brought a guitar to punish your ma, He played a mean guitar 🎸 🎵🎶
A Water's song I think.
Who sings on this track? Syd?
It appears to be a Waters tune and it sounds like a few guys singing
the lead in unison. I'm guessing Syd's one of them.
I guess Roger hadn't found his voice yet.
It's Waters.
If you listen to "Walk With Me Sydney" or "Take Up Thy Stethoscope And Walk" you will hear that Roger Waters' voice sounds different than on later Pink Floyd songs.
She was a millionaire? In lyrics Waters repeat "million million mlilonaire"...
She Was A Millionaire is a completely different song, penned by Syd Barrett.
@@SomnambulistInternationale real tragedy is that it probably doesn't exist anymore 😔
No, it's a different song... "She Was a Millionaire" was written by Syd Barrett, I'm not sure if any recording exists of it but it's not up on UA-cam... but it's the song that eventually became "Opel", one of Syd's masterpieces imo... just imagine if Pink Floyd had recorded it!
🤣
remaster???? nice joke!!!!
This is by far the highest quality recording of the song.
Very mediocre track.
So were other Floyd tracks aswell in their early stages of writing :p
Dire. Sorry.
Have you heard some of the early bootlegs of this? This is like a million times better than those. You can only do so much.
