Doug, you're doing fine. If someone wants "less frequent " they can wait a few days and watch a few in one day. Ya know? I show you having a net gaain of 0.03 subs. But don't worry about that, We'll be watching this ambitious build

I’ve watched tons of these type of car videos start up and all have seen the same thing happen on their channel. Don’t get discouraged by that. There is always someone out there that will replace them. Personally, I like watching how things are made because I’m always looking for ideas on how to make something that might apply to my project and I do like watching these old cars come back to life. Keep up the good work.

My thought is that your channel has a one of a kind and very interesting project that grabs the attention of UA-cam surfers. Unfortunately, a portion of those surffers appreciate the project challenge but don't have the patience to truly appreciate the fabrication process, like the majority of us do. I can only suggest you continue your channel the way it is, and don't worry about trying to satisfy the entire UA-cam audience. 👍👍👍

You are a really kind person and it shows , I was going to comment that I don't think you are doing anything wrong but I see a lot of people have already. I will tell you what you are doing right, like not doing pushups at the end of your videos, you are not putting fender skirts on everything, you're not obsessed with louvers lol. I would like to see more of the black 57 with the Cragars in your thumbnail, and I enjoyed seeing your backyard parts bin, but I'm sure that can all wait till the upstate New York snow melts

Doug, I LOVE what you are currently doing! You need to do it the way you want to do it so you don't get burned out. I look forward to each and every episode! Keep in mind that you will never please everybody! You can change it up however you like, but I am well pleased with the way you are currently doing it. I will not leave, because I'm on the edge of my seat waiting to see the final beautiful end result. I don't want to miss anything. I have my own restoration channel for antique electronics and antique items of various sorts. After 5 years I'm still less than 1400 subs. People come and people go, but I still do what I do because I enjoy it. Stay the course my friend and you will gain subs and viewers, but do what you enjoy regardless.

Doug, your business model has made you a you tube sensation, I have never seen a faster growing channel. Some viewers don't have the time to watch longer videos, so the shorter more frequent videos keep me interested. You have already accomplished the impossible save some will move on, however more will find your channel and you will keep growing doing just what you have been doing, Thanks for taking the time to post your videos.

  • @robert6g6

This is not criticism, just suggestions (as you requested). I 'm here every day and will be as long as you keep posting. It's the season when people are busy. They will be back after New-Years. I'm sticking around.
Having said that, I think adding a mixture of things might increase interest and subscriptions. For example some instructional content might bring people in. I would like to see some welding and metal forming demonstrations. I really like watching people using simple tools to do amazing things. Mixing in some car history content would be interesting. We haven't had a good look at the Nomad yet (your shop looks pretty cramped, its hard to see the whole Nomad). Perhaps you could roll it outside when the weather permits and let us see it from a distance. I'd like to hear some good stories from your car restoration shop days. Keep the cats (show your dog if you have one). Have another person on camera once in a while, maybe a helper with a contrasting personality. Do you have a side-kick? It helps to take the focus off yourself now and then. I liked the feature on your Mom's truck. Stuff like that is good. Change the setting and show us what's going on outside the workshop once in a while. Do you have a favorite auto parts store, or place you hang out? Show us that.
But to be honest, if you want a lot of new subscribers, hands-on demonstrations will be your bread-and-butter. Showing things people haven't seen before is a real attention-getter. For example, homemade tools, antique tools, your grandfather's tools, mechanic tricks, techniques that you use, pictures of things that you think are interesting, stories about successes, stories about failures, occasional road trips to look at old abandoned cars.
I don't know how committed you want to be to this, but you could set up a couple of cameras in your work area and video yourself working. Edit the parts that you think are interesting into your final video. Maybe do a voice over explaining what you are doing rather than trying to explain as you go.
There's a guy in Vermont who builds garages and various things. The channel is called "Kens Karpentry" www.youtube.com/@kenskarpentry. You might find some inspiration by watching his videos. He might even help you if you contact him (he's more qualified to make UA-cam suggestions than I am). He seems to be a good guy (like yourself).
Wow, that's a lot. Probably more advice than you need. Consider the things that ring true to you and ignore the rest.
    Good luck,
    Robert.

I like every video you have put out! Those who leave are used to the videos where they use the best of new replacement parts , and spend a lot of money to build a so-called vintage car. Theirs are ok, but you do things as I used to. I used the angle iron on my small pull trailer for a metal brake , using clamps and such. I also have used dollies and other things to form metals. I respect how you do things, which takes on a lot of thinking and perserverance. Keep up the good work my friend, do as you are used to doing, this is what makes your videos so great!

I think it's a good pace. Some people want immediate gratification. These old cars take a lot of time and effort. I myself am impressed with the push to complete this project. Keep up the good work.

Don’t think you’re doing anything wrong. Seeing the planning and then the result for each job is way more interesting than watching someone spot welding a line. Your numbers are climbing with every video. Personally, I feel that the people leaving have little knowledge of the real work that is being done……probably going to watch full car rattle can paint jobs….lol

Just remember that you were building the car and bringing us along. Don't worry about who stays or goes. People are fickle and you can't please everyone. Thanks for making the videos. I appreciate the time invested.

Hope you keep doing what your doing. I'm interested in seeing the finished product. Having owned many tri 5s myself and only finishing 3 or 4 with aftermarket panels I'm interested and amazed at your methods.

Doug your content is great. I follow as I can as close to your release as convenient to my responsibilities allow. I will continue doing that for as many episodes as you put out start to end. Hope I'm using the right description.. not sure of technical words.

Doug, do what you feel is right! It’s your channel, your car, your work and your cats! If someone doesn’t like what you’re doing, that person can go to another channel. The people that like what you’re doing will tune in and watch. I find what you’re doing is extremely interesting and very well done! It would be a shame if you disappeared from UA-cam. Do what you want to do when you want to and don’t care what people think. I, for one, really enjoy your videos and look forward to each and every one of them! Also, I believe, that your work is inspiring to many that love these cars and that’s important to all who are “car people”

Its just like the tide man, Remember your passion for that car And the hobby in general its what made you start the channel in the first place Keep that spark alive, that's what will draw people to you whether it takes a month or a couple years. Talk to your fellow youtubers and ask them how their channel started out. Ill bet Dan didn't earn a 1000 new subscribers A week to get to where he is today was a long slow haul You'll get their bddy.We really enjoy you keep it up. If you wanna do something different, take us for a ride and one of your other classics, introduce us to your wife.Go to a local cruise in. Anyway I don't lose hope doug you just got started! One thing I like that red rider does out of Canada, she has a viewer's bikes segment. You might try that with project pictures.People send you with their permission of course.

I agree with some of the other comments to keep doing what you have been doing. Numbers on UA-cam change as far as views go. Keep the progress coming things are coming together. The ford truck gas tank looks like a good fit.

Thanks Russell! Yes,I believe the Ford tank will work.I might have to modify the filler neck but it's never had gas in it so it shouldn't blow up in my face LOL!
