Ki Tetze - “When you go out” Deuteronomy 21:10-25:19 In this parsha, there is no story-narrative but a series of mitzvot (commandments) reaffirmed, embellished and some new ones introduced. This is the point in Moses’ final address to Israel, where the people are reminded of the tenets of the covenant they have agreed to; there are seventy four mitzvot in this parsha alone. Included in this are the laws of how to treat a woman taken captive following war and how she must be treated with respect before being taken in marriage. We see the laws preventing the loss of the first-born inheritance (as seen previously with Jacob, Rachel and Leah), the punishment for a rebellious son, the return of lost objects and animals to their owners, even health and safety laws for the roof of a house! There is a pronouncement not to leave an executed man hung on a tree overnight due to the curse that would come upon the land, giving a brief look into the future of one who would become cursed in this way for the benefit of all. There are also the laws that directly address fornication and seduction, adultery and the protection for rape victims, but there is also a law that harshly punishes false accusations of adultery. Linked with these mitzvot are the divorce laws that provide a glimpse into what was achieved at the cross by Yeshua. Amongst these are many others, including but not limited to: the duties of an employer to pay their workers on time, the fair treatment of working animals and the ethical way to treat someone in debt. ******* Find us on social media: Facebook - facebook.com/almondhousefellowship Instagram - instagram.com/almondhousefellowship Contact - almondhousefellowship@gmail.com If you would like to contribute or tithe to our ministry and fellowship, please follow this link: www.paypal.com/paypalme/almondhouse
