- Many Houstonians with underlying health conditions are left having to figure everything out on their own as many homes are still without power. FOX 26's Jonathan Mejia spoke with a family struggling to keep their disabled son alive without electricity.

I wish I had the $ to help this family. It hurts to watch this family struggle like this. There must be an Angel out there watching who can bless them. You are in my prayers

I think states should assist families and those in at-home-care with emergency generators or at the least evacuate them as first priority to where they can obtain and continue life saving support.

It’s gonna be extremely difficult, and I don’t know the right answer. But I do know is we should have been getting our self independent where we can use the free sun as a major source of energy back 40 years ago instead of getting hooked back on the oil drug like we have been.
It sure doesn’t help us that the oil and gas industry pumps millions upon millions to those in office and for advertisements to fool the public.
Oh my goodness, what an incredibly difficult situation! I'm hoping that they've been able to work out something for this family.
My thought was that perhaps they have friends or family outside of the area of outages. If so, the local paramedics/ambulance/ emergency management could assist in the process of transferring this fellow & his mother to a residence where he can safely stay until their power at home is restored. Thus avoiding a hospital stay.
Years ago, my area suffered a massive power outage. It took 14 days to have it restored. It was a difficult situation! Many people outside of town have well water, so you don't have water either. So, there was no bathing/showering, flushing toilets, doing laundry, or dirty dishes. We had a propane camp stove to cook with or try to melt some snow for a precious spongebath, but OMG, you'd get SO cold 🥶. The temperature during this duration was in single digits or below zero. We had a generator & a propain lamp, but the town soon ran out of gas,propane, bottled water food staples & generators! I mean, wow, there's so much you don't think of until you're in these situations! I also used a pap machine at the time & couldn't use it, so I didn't get proper rest... I could go on, but my point is that I very much related with her situation. Except that her situation with her son's needs is a much more dire situation. I hope that they get some assistance very soon! ❤

You know, maybe if electric vehicles were pushed for in the past climate change wouldn’t be where it is now and there would be some of the storms. But I guess we should just wait until it’s much worse and then focus on it, right? I don’t know the answers to everything, but I do know is the oil and gas lobbyists are paying for things do not change. Maybe the push for electric vehicles and other electric issues is good, maybe it’s not, but I do know the people who are paying for it not to change are doing so out of self interest. They want to keep generational billions. Imagine if we would’ve focus on this in the 1980s when it was originally started instead of just going back on the oil. It’s kind of like a drug, you get on those painkillers and they feel too good to let go, we should let go or at least started tapering off back in the 1980s.

Dear God, all I see is a 😭 with very low “capacity“, I will phrase it that way to be more polite. First, I can imagine you in the 1920s and 1930s saying just to let Germany do what they wanna do and that’s not bother with them, and then all sudden they attacked Pearl Harbor and sunk a huge amount of our military and killed Americans. Oops, looks like we should’ve dealt with them before hand. Because them in Japan brought the fight to us. You got to stop and out of control Putin before they get too big to stop later. It’s kind like going to the dentist, you can get a small cavity fixed easy but if you wait too long then there’s a lot of pain, a lot more cost, and a hell of a lot more work including maybe even pulling the tooth or doing a root canal. But it’s a simple fix if you get it caught quickly, you might not even have to have a Novacaine shot. But you would wait until several rotted out based on what I’m seeing here.
And if you actually add up how much were sending it’s like $55 a year for 10 years per adult. There’s literally a stadium being built where the local taxpayers who may never use the sports stadium or having to pay $50 for a stadium which should be financed by the people who are going to see the sports event. But we can’t spend the same amount of money to allow Ukrainians to fight and we sit back nice and comfortable. The entire economy was changed in the 1940s to go after Germany and Japan. The lives of everybody in this country were upended. And then in 2024 nobody knows it’s even going on because it’s not actually hurting us at all, yet you have people that complain. This country has gone soft and weak.
