My Def Leppard Playlist! • Def Leppard
In this Too Late For Love guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this great song from Def Leppard.
The tuning is standard tuning, E A D G B E.
This is one of the easier Def Leppard songs to play on the guitar. They don't have a ton of guitar layers on this track like a lot of their songs do. This stripped down approach, makes it a blast to play on the guitar.
I will take you through each section of the song in the order that each appears on the original recording. For the verse sections, I will also take you through the different fills that occur in the song.
We will then tackle Steve Clark's great solo. As with most of his solos, it is very melodic and fits the song perfectly. There is also a solo during the outro chorus. But, instead of demonstrating how to play that solo note-for-note, I will just show you the scale patterns that are being used so that you can improvise your own thing.
Have fun with this one! Carl...

Sweet! Any chance of a "Snortin Whiskey" by Pat Travers? For some reason it's not online!
Love the Def Leppard lessons. Steve Clark is criminally underrated RIP
Underrated?
You may mean "under appreciated "
The mans use of inversions will never be underrated by anyone with opposing thumbs
@@glennlilley8608 Plus if the only riff he ever wrote was the Wasted riff, that alone would've cemented his legend as a monster catchy riff writer!
@@steven_marque_official_channelmy bad I should have said under appreciated. He’s not even talked about enough to be “underrated”
@@peytonbrezski - you still got it right either way 🤘
so is Phil Collen... brilliant player
Def Leppard rocks man! A great and killer rock band indeed.
More Leppard please !! thanks for the videos !!
Yes 🙂👍
Please do "Stage Fright!" from Pyromania album. One the most underrated songs ever.
I agree with you: "Stage Fright" from Pyromania is probably my favorite piece of music from them along with that "Switch 625" instrumental from the "High and Dry" album. The "High and Dry" album was obviously influenced by UFO / Michael Schenker / MSG as well as the Australian rock band called "AC/DC" don't you think so?
Def leppard rocks. CARL BROWN ROCKSS.
can you please do a lesson on rude mood. i wanna learn it but i’m pretty sure you’re the only person on the entire planet that can actually teach it right thanks and love the channel
Thanks for adding this lesson. Love playing this song. Broken down very well
Awesome. Great lesson. Always loved the melodic playing of Def Leppard!
Thank you very much for helping people out with these songs brother. You have vast library and I’m learning some awesome tunes again thanks
Hi Carl, thanks for the lesson. More def leppard songs would be much appreciated please. Cheers!
explanation for opening riff was aces----too good---thanks so much - very approachable riff for newer player....
Die hard the hunter would also be great! Thank you Carl!!!
When Carl busts out the falsetto, you know things are about to get extra rad (11:34). I enjoyed learning this a lot, thanks!
Awesome lesson Carl way to do this song justice 🙂
Hi i really love your def leppard lessons.. would be great if you do some live in the round versions..ty
Absolutely fantastic lesson man!
Finally!!
I can't wait until you do more Bryan Adams!
"Can't Stop this thing we started", "Do I have to say the words?" "Thought I Died and gone to Heaven" would be so great !
Thanks Carl for these lessons. Another great song! Would love you to do some LA Guns.
I’ve asked about Guns too. Sadly, it sounds like he doesn’t get much in the way of requests for this great band. Hopefully more people reach out requesting songs by them!!
@@CC-qb9sm Nice one CC. Hopefully a few more people chime in. One of my all time fav bands and there’s so few lessons anywhere! Unfortunately being a relatively new player I don’t have the skills to transcribe myself.
@@paulm6341 - i’ve been fortunate enough to see the band live many many times! So good! You are right about there not being much of anything out there for lessons. I can think of about 20 songs by them I’d love to learn just for starters. Have a great week!
@@CC-qb9sm I’m jealous!! I’m in Australia they have only been here 3 times in their whole career- but yes awesome live. Meant to be down here in June from a postponed show last year. Fingers crossed. Have a great week also. Hopefully some lessons drop soon for us both.
UA-cam deserves a full Carl Brown lesson on bleeding me by Metallica. Keep up the awesome work man
I'll be back to finish kerning this song!!
Carl, I learned this Song, and many of their Old Songs back in 1986 thru the 1990'2 from my Teacher . I paid him ( at that time ) $ 13.00 a 1/2 hour. This Song,
"Too Late" is VERY EASY to play, I bought the Song book back then, which Covered all their Stuff from High N Dry Thru Pyromania. Know What? " Bringing on the Heartbreak" was and still is the Hardest Song to play.. Then I learned most of the Songs from Hysteria., againg, most of them too are easy to play. Remember, their was NO SOCIAL MEDIA back then,, so I learned from my Teacher Ken, at "Jerry's Music Center, in Philadelphia, Pa.
Die hard the hunter by Def Leppard would be an awesome lesson
wow. great song.
I learned this on acoustic and my fingertips were bleeding.....but when took plecked lp custom with lunatic low action it was a feeling which can not be described
Thanks a lot Carl for all your amazing lessons. I would like to see some Avenged Sevenfold stuff, espically the songs Afterlife and M.I.A.
What a great tune! I knew I could count on Carl Brown for the lesson :)
Can you please do Love and Affection by Def Leppard
Killer vocals, man!
Once again thanks Carl
You should do a lesson on “through struggle” from As I lay dying!

Could you do some Paramore stuff, I would love to see you teach some of their songs :)
What distortion pedal are you using? I love it, thick, rich and super metal. Without the new age sound.
Could you do a tutorial for Gloria by U2?

@@GuitarLessons365SongLessons I knew it was line 6 it sounds pretty good I am not a fan of line 6 no offense but it did sounded decent cheers fro Puerto rico
By the way that is one of fav songs
Please can you do animal or Armageddon it
My friend of misery?????
iron maiden wasting love please
Can never go wrong with Def Leppard. Did they ever actually write a bad song in the 80's? I don't think they did!
After their first 3 albums everything dude.
@@nonrevnosnibormetalbeerrev6251 interesting opinion, if you only like classic rock and heavy metal before 1983 I guess.
Adrenalize is a guilty pleasure 😖
@@Cobra21245 they sold out dude 👍
@@nonrevnosnibormetalbeerrev6251 I respect your opinion and I'm not saying you're wrong. I guess it depends on what you're willing to put up with when it comes to commercial rock. Obviously I have my limits too (I could never listen to coffee table rock like Coldplay), but the commercial aspects of "hysteria" I was willing to accept, because I thought it had great riffs and lyrics. But for some it was too much and I appreciate that.
I would love to see a lesson for ‘’Armageddon It’’ that’s my favorite Leppard song
Me too boi
I believe he has one from a long time ago
👍🙂
Love and affection
@@pandyandy4760 thanks I love that song too
Dude, all the songs I want to learn, it's like I type it in the search bar already thinking "No one will have done this", and you literally have videos on all of them. Mad props.
Nice choice Carl. I would also really like to see a lesson on “Let it Go” by Def Leppard. Also, I’ve been thinking how good a lesson on “Is this Love” by Whitesnake would be. Such an emotional guitar solo on that one and I like the guitar parts during the verses as well. Everyone please check out the Guitar Academy, and support Carl, lately I’ve been hitting up the lessons in the Guitar Academy on vibrato and string bending again to improve my technique.
One of DL’s most underappreciated songs!! Absolute jammer!!
Can you teach Summer Nights by Van Halen?
I would love if you take my request
Thanks 👍
yes please teach summer nights!!
You'll need a Steinberger with trans trem to play it right...same with Get Up.
Please do this lesson if you have the time, Carl! 🙏🏻 such a great song by the legendary Eddie! Always very appreciative of all your lessons, nobody comes close to your attention to detail with lessons! Thank you so much for what you do Carl!
I was with you through the demystifying of Steve Clark and Phil Collen ... until that outro solo... then I was humbled once again by them and you. Great lesson!
Don't Look Back by Boston is an awesome song. Can you teach that song in the future?
Could you please do Pink Floyd's "Have a Cigar"? It's also gonna complete the "Wish You Were Here" album.
Great suggestion!!!
I was looking for this tutorial from him!! Good suggestion
If he sees this: DONT FORGET THE FILLS
Except for the last SOYCD...
@@MasterDreamful hi tots tyutrot
More of the early Def Leppard please! Thanks Carl! Steve Clark is awesome!
Hey Carl, what would you think about doing Doctor Doctor by UFO or Dancing in the Moonlight by Thin Lizzy?
Yes!! I still can’t believe he hasn’t done any thin lizzy songs yet...
Oh man, I would so be up for some UFO!! Rock Bottom or Lights Out would be my first choices, but I’d be up for Doctor Doctor or really anything by them! Same with Michael Schenker solo efforts!!
Heck yeah some UFO would make me happy
anyone else start singing along to the intro? lol (edit: love this lesson, thanks Carl!! More songs from Pyromania would be amazing)
Absolutely! You know you’re onto something when people are singing along to the intro!
Stage Fright! from Pyromania would be awesome!
The whole pyromania album would be sweet
Another awesome song, and a great lesson. At 58 years old, i have learned so much from you. Thank You.
Hi Carl, please can you do a lesson on Animal by Def Leppard, there are no decent lessons on UA-cam
I love the lessons mate, more DEF LEPPARD 👍👌
Holy shit I was just listening to this song
What do you have against George Thorogood, Carl?
Just kidding! Thank you for all of your lessons!
Thanks Guitar lessons 365 I really appreciate this Because This is my fav song and I wanted to learn this so thank u
I miss Def Leppard live!!
Sounds great buddy
The Frayed of Sanity by Metallica please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes! More Fleppard! Thanks Man! 🤘
Great song choice / Pyromania is a great album. In my opinion Def Leppard just wasn't the same after Steve Clark passed. On that note ROCK ON CARL! 👊 🎸
Youre spot on , on everything . Thanks
Can anyone tell me what kind of guitar that is that he's playing?
It's a Sterling by Musicman JP100 (John Petrucci) Carl talks about it in this video ua-cam.com/video/P1NBakHm12E/v-deo.html 👍🏼
Awesome, as always. How about Billy's Got A Gun or Die Hard The Hunter - or better yet finish off all of Pyromania!
Man you're cranking out some great content. 🤘
When they were a real band 🤘
One of my favorites from my favorite 80s band. Thank you Carl you rock! Another 80s recommendation to teach is “Your Mama Don’t Dance” by Poison :)
damn !!!!
Great video Carl, it's really cool to hear that Def Leppard are one of your favourite bands!
I know you've probably had a lot of requests for it but I would love to see 2112 by Rush. Although its a handful, it's divided very neatly into 7 parts so it isn't quite as daunting as it seems. Maybe you could do the solos in a separate video like you did with La Villa Strangiato!
Carl could you do a lesson on My Sharona, please
No way i love this song especially the solo is bad ass . Thanks for the lesson!🤙🏼
Awesome
Carl Brown 👍👌 what a great choice! High n dry and pyromania were two of the best Def Leppard albums showcasing the brilliance of Steve Clark
Slipknot please
R.I.P. Steve💔
Hi Carl, tahnks for lesson. Could you please do any Death songs? like without judgment or bite the pain would be cool
Excellent lesson! I can do it on acoustic kind of but there`s squeaks during the sliding. I`ll keep working on it. HUGE fan of your lesson videos! You play and teach SO great!
I don't play guitar, but I am watching these for some reason. Def Leppard rocks anyways! Some of their best songs were written (or at least co-written) by Steve Clark! The band surely suffered a blow when they lost him. Not to say they do not rock anymore, but one can definitely tell that it just ain't the same without Steve. They still have a distinctive sound though. You can hear a song from them without even hearing Elliott's vocals and think to yourself, "Yep, this is a Def Leppard song!"
Finally I was waiting for this song on your channel thanks for making this lesson
Love this song thanks for the lesson!
Bringin on the heartbreak would be a good one too.....
guitarlessons365.com/bringin-on-the-heartbreak-guitar-lesson-def-leppard/
Thank You for the Lep, Carl. I could watch you do a marathon of the first three albums. Lol
Carl, please do Die Hard the Hunter - an easier track, but a great one for guitar.
Could you please do The Dream is Over?
Superbowl? Nah, I'm busy learning Carl's vids. Thx Carl :)
P.S. It's been more than a week since you've done a Van Halen lesson and the community is thirsty~
Live. Without. A. Net.
(and of course a million others!😂)
Plz Plz Plz Carl.
Funny never really cared about learning any Def Leppard songs but heard On Through The Night the other day and though huh that’s a cool song think I’ll just it down and figure it out real quick. Wrong. Finally got it down reasonably well after a few hours and now have an all new respect for Steve Clark’s very unique song writing. High N Dry is a great album look forward to learning some more songs off of it. Hopefully you’ll consider doing a few off of it as well. Switch 625 or No No No 🤘🏻
