Fantastic video, really well explained and covers all the points, I have micro 4/3 and Fuji XT mount, as well as other cameras so I’m hoping that it will work on it and the tracking is great, thank you!
Thanks again for another great video. I definitely made the right decision to buy the MT2 as I plan to eventually supplement my iPhone with the Sony A7C. If you haven’t done so already, I look forward to seeing you review the Sony a7c mk2 and a7cr. Happy new year to you and your family.
Yes you are right. That is the downside (to do the gesture). There is a function inside the app but it will use regular tracking (just like every other gimbal) and not the tracking sensor
I did try the Gopro and it works. I can't remember if I tried using the Action 4, I can try again, but I don't think it will have issues. It would be better to use with the case that comes with the A4, and hohem provides an accessory to get the camera a bit higher for balancing purposes. With the case you might not need that.
Hi Great videos very informative. I have a question, it's all well and good to start the tracking with the OK symbol, but you still have to go to there camera and start recording, unless you have started it before you make the gesture. Am I missing something here??
that is correct, the tracking can be started using the gesture, but not the camera. For some cameras you can buy a remote control, some cameras also support the use of an app. Personally I never thought about this and I just press record and go back to my intended position.
You got me confused for a second, I think you meant the M6, the one that is for smartphones. The MT2 is good if you have other cameras, like a gopro or compact cameras
@@OttoJulian_ Yep, sorry. I meant the M6. I returned it for the MT2 so I could use my GH6 with it.

I just bought the M6 and will follow your advice (jejeje). Keep up the great work. Please, make a comparison of MT2 vs Weebill 3s and/or Scorp Mini. Thanks
@@OttoJulian_ If my experience is good with M6, I'm thinking to upgrade to MT2. But my wallet can't choose between these 3 gimbals: MT2, Weebill 3S, and Scorp Mini. Scorp Mini and MT2 are in the same price range and are very similar. The Weebill 3S (combo) is a little more expensive. So I need an experienced opinion to make a choice. This new gimbal probably will be my Christmas Christmas / birthday gift so it's a lot of time to think about which one is the better one. Probably I will film more vertical videos than horizontal so this is a must-feature.
@@AlanDanielx yeah for your camera I'd go with the MT2 or something smaller. I can't say that one is better than the other one in general, because there are things that I do like about the 3S that I can't find on the MT2, but the same applies the other way around. For your camera I would go with the MT2 as long as you don't have a super heavy lens.
Hey man Great review!! Do you have a video on the hohem isteady M6? From what I'm seeing is the best for those using android or would this MT2 be better?
is this a sound that you can hear with or without the AI doing the tracking? The Sensor should not be making ANY noise at all. I can think of the motors making some kind of noise but that isn't normal either
@@OttoJulian_ nah, i need to my trip to Argentina, in like 14 more days, the international shipping will not reach before that date so, i'm kinda thinking what to do.
No, the sensor won’t track objects. You can use the app to track but that means that you need to use your phone. Any other type of camera won’t be able to do it
@@OttoJulian_ Oh what a missed opportunity. I was literally at the checkout page but tracking only persons is very, very limited. ActiveTrack of RS3 is tracking anything you select. Oh well, maybe next time.
@@StringerBelli was about to ask the same, I have it and it's a shame that I can put a focus on a specific object and lock and move around also for small children that aren't able to use gesture is a big big miss... 😢Very disappointed
I'd say that they are almost identical, the difference is that the MT2 can hold heavier cameras and has the mechanism to hold different cameras. The M6 can only hold smartphones. If you are going to use ONLY your smartphone I'd suggest the M6
have you tried a7iv on vertical mode? I did but when I do it vibrates on POV mode, btw my hot shoe is facing on right side for me to also use the flip out screen
yeah with this gimbal the hotshoe should be facing the motor. I'm sorry for the late reply, I was hoping to test both vertical+POV mode since this is not a combination that I use. I still haven't been able to test it but I will update any information on an upcoming video using this gimbal. Also, I read that you are using your lens extended, have you tried not extending it (just for testing purposes?)
What if you want to track someone else other than yourself? And it isn't possible to get them to use the gesture controls, Eg: A Bride at a wedding ceremony?
the only way to track that person is by using the standard tracking feature inside the smartphone app, but that means that you can't use any other kind of camera for that purpose and yes, it is the downside of this sensor
Hi Otto, we've been your subscriber from West Africa Sierra Leone. We'll be so grateful if you help us get our first smartphone gimbal. We're a group of young creators with limited accessories in Sierra Leone. Thanks Otto.
If you're doing a review for anyone who wants to use this for vloggin, you're doing it right, congratulations. But for anyone working as a videomaker or filmmaker, something EXTREMELY important is missing for anyone who won't be recording themselves. How to enable face tracking for other people? are you behind the gimbal so you have to keep asking people every time to make the gesture to activate face tracking? this is kind of ridiculous if that's the case, there should be an option to do this for those who are going to record events or other things where you can't keep asking people to move their hand to activate face tracking.
Hi. I didn’t think about events because this would not be the gimbal I’d use for that, mainly due to max payload and therefore lens selection limitation. But you are right in that regard, it would be impossible to ask someone to do the gesture in those situations. I’ll make sure to talk about this too on upcoming videos. On the other hand, I wouldn’t call this a sensor just for vlogging. There are plenty of applications such as portrait shooting or B Roll of a person where the tracking can used by simply asking the person to activate the sensor. I have found this to get non professional models more involved and losen up when I show them how the sensor works and tracks them. Thanks for your feedback!
Bought it and returned it within two days back to Amazon. Not user friendly at all. Very complex to balance any type of camera. Too much time needed just to prepare the gimbal for a basic shot. I have come to realization that such gadgets as gimbals, are not needed at all for any type of video production.
I'm sorry that you had a bad experience, but I have to say that based on your comment, you just had to spend some time to learn how to balance and use this (or any) gimbal. Once it's balanced you can just pop the camera in and out without having to rebalance if you are using the same camera. Anyway, honest question here: how do you make your shots stable during a video production without a gimbal or anything similar to it?
@@OttoJulian_ Great video. Based on this persons comment I feel compelled to post this little tidbit that I've discovered. I am new to gimbals and not in any way a photographer. I set up my MT2 gimbal with my newly purchased GoPro 12 and immediately experience what I thought was a problem with the gimbal. It was vibrating intermittently with some small movements, particularly in the vertical, and would error out after a short period of time. When all of axis were unlocked and I moved the camera around everything looked like it was balanced perfectly. I set it aside to wait for my new iPhone to arrive as my iPhone 7 (yep) couldn't handle the Hohem app. (My amateur brain thought that maybe the gimbal needed the app to be running in order to prevent this vibration) When I got my phone I broke out the MT2 again and set it up and it worked flawlessly with the phone with not even a hint of vibration. This made me reevaluate exactly how I was using the GoPro and how I was mounting it. That was the issue. My "common sense" told me that I could simply mount the GoPro camera directly to the mounting plate and then slide the plate into the gimbals rail instead of installing the provided GoPro mount onto the plate and then attaching the GoPro to it. Once I mounted the GoPro using the correct hardware it raised the camera up 2" higher from the gimbals horizontal arm and all vibration issues went away and the gimbal now works flawlessly with both the iPhone and the GoPro. Hope this may help someone out cause I sure could have used a video that revealed this little tidbit.

not sure about the Lumix, but it does support the A7C II
