@@DylanRomanovno he tends to leave and let his female colleague dress them. i think there are some male consultants that can help them change but that is up to the bride and i've never seen one that helped them change that wasn't gay, so it's rlly just about her comfort and gender makes no difference !! these men have years in the industry the same as women, they know what they're doing 😁👍

I must admit before my sister got married I had no idea you had to buy the dress so far in advance, it never occurred to me. I guess I thought you just went out to a shop and they'd have different sizes and you'd just buy it!
Big wakeup call when I got married just 12-1/2 years ago. Went to David's Bridal. I'm an easy size 10-12, but they said I was a 14!
Then they put tucks in the bodice, had to do a hem (all layers) and finally sew in hooks and eyes to drape up the short train for the reception....I should have bought a $5. rhinestone brooch at Target.
The price of my alterations was almost half the price of the gown if I remember.
I realized then that the wedding business is a racket.

Yes you need alterations on a wedding dress because the same wedding dress in the same size will look and fit different based on your body. It’s not a racket. It’s just how it is with wedding dresses. And no duh they’re not going to have wedding dresses available on the rack in every size. It’s a wedding dress. It’s not a tank top at Forever 21.
The only alteration my dress needed was hemming $640 for dress $55 to hem. Make them measure and demand to see size chart for brand.
IF you are an 8-10, or 16 you can find a dress off the rack. My daughter is between 8-10 and she moved her wedding up and only had 3 weeks lead time. She ordered one online, a Maggie Soterro and got it altered locally with time to spare. But if you fall outside that it could be difficult. Like someone above said David’s carries a lot of in stock sizes.

Why do people get surprised how hard it is to find a dress when they just give themselves a couple months? And that rush fee is going to be very pricey!

Three Years Engagement - They're No Excuse For This Last Minute Shopping... She's Very Lucky - This Time...
Many couples get engaged and then break up . I think she waited this long to make sure that things will lead to marriage .
Whose to say that they actually had a wedding date set? For you to be so harsh on someone whose circumstance you don’t completely understand is very suspect.
They got engaged but probably didn't really make wedding plans until much later.
I'm so very confused. Where I live, many engagements are about 4 months long. To say that 4 months is last minute is wild to me.

Kleinfeld's own website says alterations are done on a 2-3 month schedule once the dress comes in so there is no way to get the dress made, delivered to the store and have it altered in 3 months.
I wonder if they meant that they can make a dress in her given size, minus the fine-tuned alterations?
Where I live, shops that sell well known designer dresses all have in writing on their website when making an appointment that it can take 6 to 9 months for a dress to come in and then you need at least 3 months for alterations.
@@graceaxisa4213 High end designer dresses by all shops that sell them take 6 to 9 months to come in and then you need a couple months out for alterations. If she had gone to a shop that sells dresses made in china or not well know designer dresses, then only take a few weeks to come in, like 5 to 6 weeks. It depends on where to shop and what they sell.
you can pay a rush fee. Plus probably less alterations will be needed if it's only ordered a few months in advance because there's less time for the body to change.

Forget about the dress; I'm in love with her necklace!! Not something I would wear myself, but I still love it, LOL! That said, I thought the first dress looked best on her. The second one... absolutely NOT made for her body type! I thought the one she chose really accentuated her fairly straight torso; looking at her from the front, it took away her waistline. But if she's happy, that's all that matters and she looked really happy!

When they said last minute I was thinking a week or less. My family usually plans their wedding with two to three months 🤷🏽♀️

It takes time to make a wedding dress. Buying a wedding dress is not the same thing as buying a shirt. You can’t just buy it off the rack and expect it to fit you perfectly. You still have to do alterations even if you get it ordered. So getting one off the rack would mean even more alterations and more time and money.
Many years ago, you only needed to go gown shopping 2 or 3 months out and that even gave time for alterations, but not anymore. 6 to 9 months is the new normal.
I know a year in advance. Which means your tastes or body shape could have totally changed by the time the wedding rolls around

I’ve seen brides come in with 2 WEEKS before their wedding and still find a dress of the rack or something. I never realized how long dresses take to ship in and alter! Love the bride.
I bought a dress off the rack less than 2 months before the wedding. We chose a short engagement. The store was great and took the dress in 4-5 sizes before our wedding!
4 MONTHS is last minute? Why can't these wedding dress manufacturers do something in a decent length of time? I ordered custom FURNITURE and it arrived in 12 weeks.
There’s a difference though. There is usually no fixed date for furniture. There’s no urgency. You can wait however long it takes for it to be finished. The problem with a wedding dress is there is a fixed date. It must be shipped and altered before your wedding. That’s why the extra time is needed because there is less leeway in terms of time.
If you buy a dress made in China you will have it in a few weeks, but not high end designer dresses. They are all hand made to order and some materials are from other countries and production has been a mess since the pandemic.

Wow that dress is stunning! It will be interesting to see what bridal shops can adapt to faster wedding dress productions! In the past 2 years my friends have all gotten married in 2-3 months, opting for online dresses that aren’t as high quality as these YET ARE IN THE SAME PRICE RANGE, people are willing to pay the same price as these gowns for faster because no one wants to wait 1-2+ years to get married anymore, it just seems silly to wait that long!
But the problem is if you want a higher quality dress in less time, then it’ll be more money.
It's just a bunch of hooey. They just don't want to pay more employees to have faster turnaround with the dresses. Bob Mackie used to design and have made completel gowns and customes for BOTH Carol Burnett show, and Sonny and Cher, and have them all done and ready in a 7 day time period. I ordered custom FURINTURE and it came in 12 weeks.

My son’s engagement was less than 3 months and my daughter in law got a beautiful custom made gown in her home country- Belgium and that was just as Covid started, so the date was moved up and the location changed about 5 times. It arrived in NY days before the wedding and was stunning.
It really isn’t silly, especially when you consider everything else takes time to organize. The venue for example could be booked for months. It’s worth it to put in the time to plan a wonderful day. I rather a good quality dress.

@@brandywineblogger1411 Wedding gown sizes are the old school military sizing from decades ago as the street clothes were also using that sizing system. Some designers though are now sizing their dresses the same as modern street size. If you watch an old show like I Love Lucy, said says she wears a size 12 and she was pretty skinny at a size 6 in modern size.
The first dress was beautiful on her. She could’ve added a sparkly belt to get her bling.

That is exactly what she should have done. But she would needed to have asked when booking an appointment what the turn around time was there as well since they could also be selling high end designer dresses like Kleinfeld.

Maybe it’s just a status thing since Kleinfeld is so ‘iconic’, they only have expensive designer dresses. Also not sure if it’s just an American thing to pay a ridiculous amount of money for wedding dresses, since people also take out literal loans to pay for an engagement ring. In my country they’d call you absolutely crazy for buying a wedding dress even close to that price😂
Mine was a "last year's" style at David's on the sale rack. 😅 It looked awesome to me. I got it for $950.
And none of our friends said, "Oh that's so last year!"
That is not judging, it is a fair question. IMO $3500., for a dress you only wear once is a waist of money. Unless you have money to burn and don't care about the price. I gave my daughter a budget of $2,000., and I'm sure she will find a gorgeous dress for that price.
I no the feeling of not knowing if u will get a dress in time. I went a year ahead of time and bought a dress but the owner of the shop stole the money and other brides money and wedding parties money. There was only one shop that helped all of us and she was able to order the dress i wanted. I lost money but i thank God He sent her to help all of us brides. My dress was a southern belle.

I still don't understand why it takes so long to order a dress these days. I ordered my dress without ever even seeing it in person because the bridal boutique didn't have that style and I had it in maybe 6 weeks. It shouldn't take any longer than that to get in a dress that isn't an all hand beaded, special ordered, and/or bespoke gown, which would take longer. 6-9 months is insanity.

Yeah I really don’t understand why wedding dresses haven’t gotten more with the times. I think that’s why David’s bridal and some stores are going out of business. My friend just got engaged and her wedding is in 2 months! 2! All her dresses were ordered online this week and she is returning the ones that didn’t work. The stores that can’t give the faster supply and demand aren’t gonna survive. Girls are okay with getting the wrong size and having it tailored locally faster if need be. I know they take time to make but they have to adapt and make styles that are faster to make because brides aren’t planning or waiting 1-2 years to get married anymore!
My wedding dress is from Kleinfeld, and we ordered it in August. It arrived from Australia in March. It was hand-beaded. That’s why it took so long.

Ebony should've started looking for her wedding dress the day after she got engaged. It shouldn't matter that she was overwhelmed. Yes, she's disappointed in the selection they're showing her, but that's HER FAULT. Like Debbie and Randy know it takes 8-9 months for a dress.
In india , lots of wedding dates are picked up between a window of 3-6 months. I didn't know my husband 4.5 months ago
I think many, many, many brides don't buy their dress months in advance. You know your body may change.

This is hilarious! 4 months is last minute?!!! Indian wedding lehengas consisting of a blouse, one dupatta (veils) for head & another dupatta to put on the arm, with WAY MORE intricate embroidery, hand work and details are made ready in 1-2 months!! And I'm talking designer lehengas here.. I mean, show some efficiency people :D

Rudeness is never right, I agree. But everyone should find out the turn around time for wedding dresses just to be on the safe side. I looked into it and told my daughter, we need to go shopping 9 months out and not 3 months out like I did many years ago. LOL
