Thanks for making your video..I like your style ..very relax and easy going ..and I feel like I get lots of what you are saying...you go into details and it fun to watch ypu...lol great job well done.
Thanks for information man ,so my question is if i would like to take my wife to stay with me at the ship is that possible? even I'm just a crew on board ??
Otmane Boukha yes you are allowed to bring family. And they’ll get a discount. You will communicate with Human Resources or the personnel department to work all that out. Sometimes you guest can even stay with you in your cabin. But if you have other roommates, they could even allow you to stay in your wife’s guest cabin. You have to just be actively communicating with the human resource department to make sure you are doing all you need to do
Each ship might be different, but in general, how warm/cold those cabins are? Air-conditioned, so pretty dry? I'm thinking about my room-wear and skincare. Also, have you ever heard or notice water problem, such as chemical too strong to wash hair daily etc? (Sorry, oh well, I'm a girl. ha.) Thanks!
Sunny Yoko the cabins are a fine temperature. But when packing, definitely bring pajamas for either hot or cold. I did have some nights it seemed more chilly so I wore more clothes to sleep sometimes. Also maybe bring a small blanket. Or purchase a small blanket if you feel it’s cold in your cabin after you arrive. Your ship will be in ports with stores like Walmart so you can always find things you need later or something you forgot. I didn’t think the water was too bad. But yes there are chemicals in there. I had long hair while on the ships so I just didn’t wash my hair all the time. I have heard of girls with blonde hair having their hair start to turn green. So some people even would purchase bottled water and use that to wash their hair. Sometime your skin can get a little dry from the water and the recycled air, so lotion isn’t a bad idea. And you can tell it’s recycle air, but it’s not that bad. Sometimes you wake up with dry eyes or dry mouth. I slept with a water bottle next to me so if I ever needed water it was there. It’s not that bad a situation but it is definitely a little different that being on land. You will adjust to it really quickly. There’s nothing so bad that I feel like I need to warn you of. Except the rooms are super duper small. Good luck!
I want to guess that any "engineer" gets there own cabin, however, because there are so many people once you get to that level, I wouldn't be surprised if a 3rd engineer shared a cabin with someone
Question: Can I eat/bring snacks inside my cabin? Like if I want to brings snack from back home. Btw these videos are awesome man. Thanks you! It's really informative. 😊
Kaleidoscope world Yea you can have snacks in there. There is even a crew store that sells certain food items too. There are certain thawing you can’t have in your cabin though. Usually milk products or fruit sometime. Perishables like that. But yes, I always had gatorades and chips in my cabin. And usually a few beers in my refrigerator haha
What determined your roommate? Gender? Department? Would being female and in Engineering likly to mean that I would share with a person from another department?
Alex Ogilvie yes. You are put in with someone of you same sex in your same department. There is a small chance you would be with someone in a different department if there just wasn’t another person for you to room with in yours. But sometimes you luck out and if there is no one in your department at that time, you may get your own cabin for a bit. That’s the dream haha
Do you know how many are in a cabin for Youth Counselors? And this way sound like a weird question, but do all roommates move in at the same time, or could one person already be settled in and partway through their contract when it's time for you to move in?
Taylor S. On my ships full time youth staff had 2 in a room. Seasonal youth staff had 3 in a room. And everyone’s contracts start and end at different times so it’s very unlikely you would move in the same day as your roommate. But it’s better that way because you will probably have the top bunk for a while, and then when your roommate leaves you get the bottom which is the way better bunk!
Sean Price Thanks for the info! I'm really thinking about applying for a Youth Staff position but it would have to be seasonal, good to know it'll be 3 to a room if I'm with NCL.
All my roommates were from a different country than me. But because my department was so small (only 2 people) my roommate was never my work partner. But if you work in a larger department, like youth staff or the restaurant department, you will most likely have a roommate who you also work with.
@@CoffeeWithSean thank you so much for letting me know this, as of right now, i am preparing myself physically, mentally and socially to work in a cruiseship.
Hi sean I have applied for royal carreabian and i had a interview by whatsapp with human resources, afer they send me that i paased for interview and i succeed and they send me a offer letter to sigh it but they said that i have to pay usd$400 for all documents they will send it to me ! Is that normal ?
Otmane Boukha you shouldn’t have to pay before they send you the documents. I had to pay for my own medical stuff and then I was reimbursed when I got on the ship.
Thank you man for explaining,so what about the whatsapp chat interview is that possible?! Or only by skype ? Beacuse i had by only whatsapp chat interview.
I applied on rclctrac.com ,that's why i asked Because i don't think so it was royal carreabian, If you can put your email here i would like to send you job offer letter they sent to me and then tell me what's your opinion about that Thank you
Matthew Carleton I’m actually not sure about that one. Reach out to Jordan F Martin. He probably has a contact on ships That knows the deck team living situations

In housekeeping department as a hotel cleaner. Do you know how many are per cabin In norwegian cruise line..?
D'nnys L correct. There is one per cabin but I don’t know how many cabins each one has. Maybe between 10-15
Same here, I'm on POA Hawaii, so I'm looking forward to being the only one! I've worked in Afghanistan for 5 years so, I hope it's the same layout!
I wanted to see an actual cabin

If me and my husband got hired, do they accommodate us in the same cabin? It will be at Norwegian poa.
Samantha Lopez yes you’ll be in the same cabin, but depending on your job you may have bunk beds

Hey, Sean... One question. Is there a safebox, TV and/or mini freezer in the cabins?
Chinomatic yes
How is a day as a Youth Staff? Do you know?
Ilze Piñon long. It’s long. But rewarding seeing the kids smile
