James and Kirk are like my sister's two cats: the cats themselves are sisters, but one is the dominant alpha who takes all the treats and commands your attention, while the other is content to sit in the corner grooming herself. It's a strange dynamic, but it works.
I worshipped Kirk from Junior high and all through high school as well as into the early 90's. Being a guitarist myself I really identify with Kirk. Thank you Kirk. You and Metallica changed my life like Star Wars did in the 70's.
He didn’t stutter at all when I met him. He was incredibly soft spoken but he never stuttered or stumbled over any words. He was really nice but you definitely got the “shy introvert” vibe from him.
@@clonexx that’s because he indeed is a shy introvert! In one of his recent interviews he said “I’m extremely introverted and shy at a times and enjoy spending time in my solitude” so that’s why he was giving that kinda vibe I guess ;)
@@resistandrevol Yep, he was still incredibly nice and gracious. It was sort of an otherworldly experience for me to have met them after really looking up to James and Kirk musically since 1984. Even then I told myself I have to meet them someday. It took 25 years, but it finally happened. Best concert of my life by far. Not just because I met them but also because we had amazing seats plus my dad, who was 70 at the time, came with me. It was his first live concert he’d ever seen beyond HS band concert type things. He enjoyed it, he was amazed at the synergy between the band and the audience. That the enormous amount of energy the band was putting out was returned to them by the crowd. He’s passed now, so it’s an amazing memory to have with him.
@@clonexx wow man, I’m so so happy for you!! What an amazing story you have. I have yet to see Tallica’ live and meet them, hopefully they will come back to my country in the next tour. I’m going through dark times right now due to loss of a someone very close to me, so Metallica, especially Kirk, really helping me a lot these days. It’s incredible that you have this memory to cherish. Thank you for sharing ur experience, keep rocking and take care ⚡️
@Andrew Salter i know a millionaire rock star has got a lot better things to do than read random comments on YT, but it's still my (maybe not entirely sober) feelings at the time. I have all the respect in the world for Kirk Hammett.
@Andrew Salter wow that is awesome you stuck with guitar for so long. My cousin is a guitarist and runs his own recording studio in Waynesville, NC. I tried guitar lessons when I was younger but didn't have the discipline to learn. Its a very difficult instrument to master. Rock on dude 🤘🤘
@Andrew Salter thanks Andrew I was just looking at a cheap Jackson Kelly and a bedroom amp for it, I might not be very good but it would feel great to learn to pound out some of those old Metallica riffs!
30 years later, I saw 15 shows from the Justice tour. Starting in Detroit, ending for me, July 4 at Pine Knob, now DTE. Best tour of my life, nothing came close.
The end days here for epic Metallica. It was cool that the video for One introduced millions to Metallica and One and the whole And Justice For All album was true to Metallica’s epic sound. That was the end for me being able to listen to Metallica albums in their entirety. I can still listen to their first four albums all the way through and enjoy every song, but I can’t say the same for any of their albums since. I like some of the songs from later albums, but most are just kind of blah.
Seven months at home and having millions of dollars to live on wow he is complaining that is short wow try being a truck driver like me on the road more than you are home I get a day and a half of a week that's all
Back then, Kirk really seemed like one of the guys. Now he is like that weird old aunt that you don't wanna be around. I guess the pretending to be gay thing in the mid-90's turned in to him pretending to be a woman in the next century.
I've always been amazed how soft spoken Kirk is.

Its good you stopped. Idolatry is a grave sin. Peace!
I absolutely love every interview that Kirk ever does should do more interviews don't hear from him that much and he is so fine I can't take it
exactly!
help that took a turn
Barbara spoke the truth and nothing but it 💀
barbara strikes again 💀
straight to the point barb. bravo
I love his soft voice
he’s such a cutie
"We did not even expect it to run 17 months"
Black Album tour: *laughs in 3 years*
I always had a thing for Kirk 😍
2:41 Kirk has such a baby voice in this moment, I love it 😂
Kirk is just just just so cute I love it that he's kind of shy that is so hot
Kirk is so cool, love his humility
Imagine some of the awesome riffs we never heard from the riff tapes....the ones that got lost in the shuffle.
Someone owns them now!
Even on a solo interview, he gets interrupted LOL
Kirk has that oceanic look.
Brings me back to my Teenage years
He’s my fav in the band - great interview
I only clicked on this to hear him talk about the 57 behind him! oh well!
Gotta love that VHS HISSSSSSSSSS. Somebody recorded over a little league game
did he stutter? yes, but its ok
His struttering wasnt too bad here. Its definately increaded thru the years. but he plays guitar real good
English wasn't his primary language. It's probably his engrained Filipino tongue

Nice 57 Chevy Kirk!
A moments of the history
"And Justice For All" was a major cross over album. Country music fans and hip hop fans bought & supported that album
Cool guy.

He's a laid back follower with no ego...which is exactly what they wanted after firing the egomaniac Dave Mustaine.
Yup, three was a crowd 🤣
KIRK LEE HAMMETT
18 DE NOVIEMBRE DE 1962
59 AÑOS (60)
I can't remember anything
Can't tell if this is true or dream
Deep down inside I feel the scream
This terrible silence stops in me
Now that the war is through with me
I'm waking up, I cannot see
That there is not much left of me
Nothing is real but pain now
Hold my breath as I wish for death
Oh please, God, wake me
Back to the room that's much too real
In pumps life that I must feel
But can't look forward to reveal
Look to the time when I'll live
Fed through the tube that sticks in me
Just like a wartime novelty
Tied to machines that make me be
Cut this shit off from me
Hold my breath as I wish for death
Oh please, God, wake me
Now the world is gone, I'm just one
Oh God, help me
Hold my breath as I wish for death
Oh please, God, help me
Darkness imprisoning me
All that I see
Absolute horror
I cannot live
I cannot die
Trapped in myself
Body my holding cell
Landmine has taken my sight
Taken my speech
Taken my hearing
Taken my arms
Taken my legs
Taken my soul
Left me with life in hell
(No, no, no)
Yeah, fuck you
Alright now
Thank you very much my friends,
You treat good here man
We thank you very much, we'll see ya
Good night from Metallica, thank you!

Play the fucking guitar Man you are a metal rocker
Too bad James and Lars fucked with the next best bassist after cliff to ever be in the band and ruin their trajectory.
