As a big BTCC fan , i am unimpressed with this year . as i was last year . The hybrid thing seems a bit pointless? Only the grid reverse does anything .
It does not do enough, but at the same time, I never want it to be like F1 where within 1 second, you just blast by the car infront with no skill. It still needs tweaking and quite frankly as far as this season goes, I am still enjoying it. Sutton is just showing just how good he is and in a very good field, making nearly everyone look average. If he was not in this series, it would be more wide-open and exciting of course.
@@motorsportracer97 Hmm, wanted a different challenge and saw that Ford was a good but never a race-winning outfit since the days of Matt Jackson being there. A car with a lot of potential and with the NAPA sponsorship, must be getting paid quite a bit there.
Sorry to bother with this question but as an F1 fan who doesn´t know much about touring, what are the top competitions apart from the British Touring Car Championship?
Three race's with reverse grid race 3 been going since 2004. Its time for a change. No more gimmicks please. Strip the cars back closer to road cars again and hell we need some personality / rivalry within the drivers. The whole show is very formulaic.
Every car gets a certain amount of hybrid, say it’s a 12 lap race. 1st place from last race (or 1st in championship for Race 1) gets 1 lap of hybrid, 2nd gets 2, all the way to anyone lower than 10th, who get all 12 laps of hybrid. The hybrid in theory acts a bit like KERS in F1, a little bit of boost to give the drivers extra speed. However, it hasn’t really done much - I definitely prefer the old ballast system
7.5 minute video with only 3 minutes of racing in it? BTCC highlight video packages are hopeless - the series is years behind the curve when it comes to UA-cam and the low views and engagement bear that out.
@@BigA-zx5io Don't dispute that the TV coverage is great. But imo missing a trick in attracting new fans (such as international audiences) with a UA-cam offering which is essentially pointless.
Why so stingy not giving the full race videos immidietly like IMSA??? if what you want if new and more audience then thats the way to go, billions awaiting to view these races. Around the fuc king world!!!
Hybrid is not enough of a performance differentiator to lead to close racing like success ballast did. Success ballast changed the handling characteristics of the car whereas you can drive around the hybrid restrictions. With the money NAPA have thrown at it, it feels like the series is slowly moving away from the core DNA of BTCC. Yes Sutton and the Ford are good but the hybrid era seems all rather predictable and dull. Simple solution - bring back success ballast on top of the hybrid.
@@BigA-zx5io I’m not enough of an engineer to comment on the weight implications - I guess hybrid carries a fairly hefty weight overhead. I would still maintain that the hybrid restrictions do not create enough of a performance differential. Believe it or not I’m actually a Sutton fan - but he’s more exciting to watch when he’s actually got to work for it. That’s what made me a fan of his originally, the fact that he is an exciting driver to watch when he’s racing. I don’t know what the answer is…. maybe I’m simply getting old and at the point where I’ve outgrown touring cars 🤷🏻♂️
The bias is real. Commentators really trying hard to not show their favoritism towards turkington Fastest car on the grid yet only two wins whilst Sutton has the same number of wins as the BMWs this year…
Hybrid is a waste of time, hugely in BTTC.What as really change? closer racing? Electric spoils any racing, look at F1e ORrather who looks at it. if any electris is to be used at least go full electric so elec fans and IC fans get what they want and not some diluted crap. All this is for is save the planet ethics,if thats the case cease racing all together because electric racing is boring

they are force feeding hybrid to keep OEMs in the sport. Its not for competition or innovation.
It adds an extra layer of unnecessary complication

I was in Jake Hills garage and it was amazing!!!
Getting to watch the race with Jakes dad was quite a thing right?
Hill was on fire
He really was!
What a day!!
The series really needs a shake up, we need to keep things fresh.

Hybrid is not working this year is crap
I don't follow BTCC like I used to, what does the hybrid element do to make it worse?

You see the BMWs being the fastest car yet you wonder why they’re so distant in the championship….
Drivers really do make the difference here
