Behold! Lazav, The Multifarious for Guilds of Ravnica! The acclaimed Bennie Smith and I brewed up a Commander list for this new legendary already, and you can check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/23c3xy7SGRM/v-deo.html
Death to Dimir the time of Rakdos is near! And when that time comes it will be the time of cards! chaos! And our guild to rise! (P.s love your content keep it up)
Even so, there are people who have that foolish opinion. And you sarcastically bringing it up, will just be used as "see, even Prof thinks it sucks", by people who want to justify their foolish opinion.
My favorite MTG UA-camr is revealing the new iteration of a card/character I hold very dear to me? My Lazav EDH deck was my pride and joy, I put so much into it, so much money (it was almost completely foiled out and ran a lot of high price cards), sadly almost all of it was stolen, sad times. Love the new Lazav, he's not necessarily better or worse than the original (I do wish he still had Hexproof), but is almost like an opposite of him, focusing on milling yourself rather than your opponents, plus he offers up some great combat tricks. I like him a lot.
Simic. They're all about improving nature, right? They probably cross-breed coffee plants and other plants like crazy. I'll bet Ravnica has the best coffee in the multiverse. Even our real-world coffee would pale in comparison.
"Dies to Doomblade" isn't a particularly strong argument. The graveyard is the player's second hand in MTG. In standard, the utility is limited, but in Modern and Legacy, Surviel is much, much, much better despite the presence of strong graveyard hate options.
Anybody remember when the Prof mentioned if he was dropped onto an MTG plane he would want it to be Ravnica and then work as a barista on the Promenade? Because he clearly did.
I've been following you by many years, but lately you're really improve the quality of your videos. This is the best video in terms of idea and production. Keep going the good job!
Wow what a sweet preview card Prof! Glad you're getting some cool ones for Ravnica preview. Also I had never seen what Sam looks like before so this was awesome! Love his podcasts, so much detail is always in them.
You know, it kinda makes sense that a good guild member for Dimir would not be one you expect to be of the Dimir guild. In that sense, Prof. would make an excellent addition to their ranks.
Powerful effect right there, and Stitcher's supplier only gets better as time goes on. This is also a pretty awesome pseudo-reanimation engine, which is something standard needs post-rotation.
I loved this sketch! I don't know whether it's the hoods or the set up, but this was just really funny. Thank you professor, I hope you can do more if these in the near future 😂
Fantastic video, however I suggest reading up on 180* degree rule in film making. It can be quite jarring when the actors aren't following correct line site.
This, THIS. It bugged me so much I started questioning if it was intentional in the spirit of Dimir tactics to undermine your sanity. That Sam was going to morph into the Professor/Lazav at some point. But at the same time nothing else about the camerawork/direction seemed to suggest that it was, hah.
I came here to say the same thing. The first cut that broke the rule had me flashing back to my film school days. Very jarring. Prof doesn't do a lot of this kind of shooting, so it's understandable.
Dimir is looking super dope for limited. surveil has so much good support. and surveil is worse explore, not necessarily worse scry for some decks like dredge.
Everyone that says that surveil is worse than scry WILL receive a visit from his or her nearest dimir agent, which might be their spouse, to clarify things and opinions.
I liked the video, and I hope this isn't offensive but I think it is good advice. In the conversation you have you break the 180 degree rule and cut back and forth with both characters facing the same direction. It's super noticable and pretty easy to avoid in the future =)
I was just asking myself how you got the deck tech out so fast... You had access to the preview card of Lazav?! That's amazing news, prof! Wotc is showing her best secrets to you: a true dimir 😜
Great work! I don’t know if I’m just weird and alone on this, but I really think you should try to narrate some of the lore of magic. It would make for a great series and I’m sure there is quite a few people here who aren’t all caught up in lore and may wanna try to but be overwhelmed with how much there is.
Hilarious xD I just hope this points do get addressed in the stories. The Dimir insignia should be something you only see in like the deepest part of their territories. Or maybe there's dozens of false Dimir meeting grounds with their insignias which are just under scrying to check the activities of those that pry too much where they shouldn't As for the dresses... so long as they are only dressed like ninjas when they are about to kill or spy, what you are wearing actually makes sense, it's camuflage. When it doesn't make sense is to infiltrate Anyway, I get it that you were kidding, but also get that you weren't entirely kidding.
"slightly worse than scry" Hmm, what's better, pushing unwanted cards to the grave where you can access them later or fuel other effects, or pushing them to the bottom of your library never to be seen again...unless you somehow draw enough cards to see them or shuffle(which doesn't guarantee you'll see them). It's like saying Indestructible is a slightly worse Regenerate.
Izzet is more about spelling slinging, throwing fire and lightning, playing wizard creatures, and drawing cards. Dimir is a little more flexible and can be mill (getting rid of all the cards in an opponent's deck), some graveyard shenanigans (especially with this new creature), and unblockable and evasive creatures. Both like countering some spells as well. Izzet usually takes a more bold and direct approach while Dimir often is sly and sneaky to get what they want. Pick the one that appeals to you most!
Izzet is generally more aggressive and explosive, dimir is generally more controlling and slow. Both are strong and can vary in how they play. It's hard to objectively compare the overall strength of a color without a specific frame of reference. Right now in legacy (the format which has the most cards in it and is therefore the most powerful), grixis (UBR) is incredibly popular. Overall you shouldn't choose a color and stick to it when it comes to MTG, branching out into all types of play will make you a better player. For the guilds of ravnica pre-release event where they make you chose a guild, just pick the one that you feel the strongest attachment or relation to, they're gonna be around the same power level. I'd recommend trying a bit of everything, and just starting with what you feel like, the color pie is very flexible, i even have a mono-blue aggro modern deck
Actually Surveil is not worse than Scry. I would argue it is actually strictly better than Scry in most situations, because you can actually utalize a card when it is dumped into the grave, unlike when it is dug beneath the library.
I like this new mechanic, similar to scry, but not and it works with decks that love to work with graveyards without being Op. If this is DImirs mechanic it might make a good pairing to golgari , but we will have to wait and see.
Um, point of question Prof. By showing this video....are you showing UA-cam that the Dimir exists.... I better not see a spooky eye on my door when I get home tonight
2:16 Not true, it's a lie to get us out of interrogations when we are asked for details of his appearance, also the law was made when a non-shapeshifter was guildmaster

And now Prof has stolen the Dimir guildleader position. Big move from a barista.
Great skit professor!Don't forget the 180-degree rule when filiming, cheers!
Where did you get the full art of lazav for your thumbnail?
Let's clear something up right now: I NEVER said surveil is slightly worse than scry. I, The Professor, am not even in the video...
You think, you can fool us? What if i tell you, that I AM Lazav indeed!
But how you be Lazav! I am Lazav!
The Mimeoplasm and Muldrotha would like to have a word about surveillance. Be prepared to be slimed!
No, I'm Lazav!
Even so, there are people who have that foolish opinion. And you sarcastically bringing it up, will just be used as "see, even Prof thinks it sucks", by people who want to justify their foolish opinion.
You really spent all your shill points on this.
Should’ve got another signed picture of mark rosewater
THEY SHILL FOR HIM NOW
i love you sam
It's a good name
"Slightly worse than scry"
u wot m8
you mean slightly better than scry
It is in some cases. Otherwise, it’s slightly better.
what cases? Playing against mill?
2:55 Hey, I'll have you know that Surveil is actually slightly BETTER than Scry!
(But seriously, great video, Prof! Good stuff.)
"A man is not Lazav."
The orzhov are probably the equivalent of the Iron Bank. So basically Ravnica is the equivalent of Braavos.
Wouldn't baristas fall under Rakdos ?
Simic makes the beans.
Yes, baristas brutality and cultish attitudes know no bounds, definitely Rakdos!
Aren't the izzet all about steam?

They probably made the cappuccino machines...
Simic. They're all about improving nature, right? They probably cross-breed coffee plants and other plants like crazy. I'll bet Ravnica has the best coffee in the multiverse. Even our real-world coffee would pale in comparison.
Isn't Surveil slightly BETTER than scry? Stuff in your graveyard is way easier to get back than stuff on the bottom of your deck. Right?
Shh! He was just testing his Dimir agent again. Yeah...that's the ticket!
It's also easier to remove from the grave via exile or black spells that summon them to the opponent's field. :v
@@TheMightyBattleSquid thats why noone plays graveyard based decks anymore... oh wait...

Thank's Dimir. Youve given me a commander that I might actually play that doesn't sicken me to play Dimir

Golgari, you mean.. right?

Wow, while not an after hours video I'm still stunned that Prof survived this adventure, props!
Anybody remember when the Prof mentioned if he was dropped onto an MTG plane he would want it to be Ravnica and then work as a barista on the Promenade? Because he clearly did.
Eh, I prefer the coffee shop down by Tin Street. The one the gorgon loves.
Yeah. Barista way nicer too. . .
Kyle Hart I’m all for Tin Street, but isn’t that where all the Hooligans hang out?
Say what you want about the Dimir, but they are really sharp dressed this set!
Totally, they got a _killer_ fashion
it's just to die for...
As always, the best spoiler video on UA-cam.
I've been following you by many years, but lately you're really improve the quality of your videos. This is the best video in terms of idea and production. Keep going the good job!
I, Lazav, think your preview videos are the best in all of GuildTube. Keep surveiling, agent.
Wow what a sweet preview card Prof! Glad you're getting some cool ones for Ravnica preview. Also I had never seen what Sam looks like before so this was awesome! Love his podcasts, so much detail is always in them.
The first rule of House Dimir is: You do not talk about House Dimir
Surveil is worse than scry? Someone isn’t a black player.
Or green (Eternal Witness). Or white (Sun Titan). Or blue (Snapcaster Mage). Or red (Goblin Welder).
The Prof makes a video slamming Wizards and then gets a mythic guild master promo. Looks like Wizards is finally noticing the gap in sub counts!
You know, it kinda makes sense that a good guild member for Dimir would not be one you expect to be of the Dimir guild. In that sense, Prof. would make an excellent addition to their ranks.
I keep watching this to get your more views because this whole skit is amazing!
Seriously, don’t put your insignia on everything if you want to be a spy!
My fav character of all time cant wait to build a brawl deck with him. Dimir for life.
This was a fun video, it would be nice to see "The Professor" show up on different planes more often!
You guys are having way to much fun with this
that watery grave pun was shock-ing.
This was quite excellent. Great work Professor
Love the Jace/coffee reference
1:49 the Professor is channeling his inner Goldblum, I see
00:27 Just the WHAT you're looking for?!?!
Jace-bucks? Priceless.
This card looks super fun to brew with.
Nice mythic preview and video prof! WoTC loves you! 😁❤️
I encode myself to this video with cipher, So glad my guild got covered
Do more of these videos there fun to watch professor
Worse than scry until you want to fill your graveyard with good stuff

Me too! It would be easy too... he could just mirror all of one actor’s shots.
Excellent preview video!
A slightly better preview than tolarian scholar, congrats!
Eeeeyyy its Sam Tang from Kitchen Table Magic Podcast!!
Whoa, watch that 180 degree rule, Prof.
(great as always)
your video on youtube not promoting you is spot on. i got a notification for this today, three days late.
Dimir is looking super dope for limited. surveil has so much good support.

So are we gonna ignore the fact that Sam hasn't put out a new podcast in 90 days? WHERE DID YOU GO SAM!!!!
We like to have fun around here.
You got a good card to spoil! Low cmc, excellent ability, and great commander. Nice!
I guess they don't mind the guild leaders being different rarities anymore.

This was fantastic. Thank you.
Dimir for the win mothertruckas (evil laughter)
You should watch some videos on framing shots, the shot, reverse-shot portion of this is filmed from confusing angles
I know he said "Just the agent I was looking for," but I heard "Just the ASIAN I as looking for."
It's just like the song "Secret Asian Man"
"slightly worse than scry" Hmm, what's better, pushing unwanted cards to the grave where you can access them later or fuel other effects, or pushing them to the bottom of your library never to be seen again...unless you somehow draw enough cards to see them or shuffle(which doesn't guarantee you'll see them). Slightly worse than scry? When and where, exactly? Aside for that, nice performance and congrats for the preview card!
I got lazav in a pack the other day. Diddnt know what i had until i watched this
Very fun video!! Thanks!
That Jedi knight Halloween costume ahahaha
Please do these for each guild. . . .
I saw your deck tech for this card before the actual card was revealed. Did you release the EDH deck deck first?
Actually Surveil is not worse than Scry. I would argue it is actually strictly better than Scry in most situations, because you can actually utalize a card when it is dumped into the grave, unlike when it is dug beneath the library.
Hey where can I get those card sleeves “disregard commons”

I like this new mechanic, similar to scry, but not and it works with decks that love to work with graveyards without being Op. If this is DImirs mechanic it might make a good pairing to golgari , but we will have to wait and see.
The Jacebucks is the key to Ravnica.
i wanna put him in a deck with red and do shenanigans
"Pfft. I don't want to."
Ah, Lazav.. one of my favorites. This card is bad enough that it will be cheap and I'll be able to get one! Yaay
How can he be your favorite when you don’t even understand how good he is?
Dimir 🤝 Dark Angels.
Trying way too hard.
1:33 THAT'S RACIST! *Points angrily*
Um, point of question Prof.
By showing this video....are you showing UA-cam that the Dimir exists....
I better not see a spooky eye on my door when I get home tonight
I am hyped for the new dimir
I was considering changing to Izzet but Dimir has the colors I love, I'm ready for my first pre release
Yay for Sam!
I thought surveillance was strictly *better* than scry?
Fun video. Keep it up!
