From what I remember about Godzilla vs Gamera, I read that it was turned down because Toho believed that they should stay apart as separate franchises instead of bringing the two together. Interestingly enough, Godzilla and Gamera were on a children's stage show together and Gamera had a cameo in a piece of concept art for Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
I wonder if the Monsterverse will deliver a Godzilla vs Gamera

Funny thing is, the 2014 Godzilla had some (keyword) similarities to the 1994 American Godzilla.

I mean shit, getting the rights to him must be worth pennies by account that he literally doesn't have a Film title! I would love for Legendary to go Bananas and start creating Kaiju, but some of the ones we see look like stinkers, most of them being Biapedal and or with no true size that rivals Godzilla except for King Kong and Ghidorah.
Plus Bagan is considered a God in some of the Old unused Scripts.

Here's a crazy idea: Since Godzilla Vs. Kong was a success maybe Legendary should ask Toho if they can use some of their unused kaiju ideas. Imagine if in a future film we see Bagan as an enemy. And I mean his 3 beast form, not the single beast from the game. Or maybe MechaMothra. God knows Apex would be dumb enough to make one of those.

I hope somehow Gamera ends up in the Monsterverse. Maybe chilling in the hollow earth. Gets awoken by the ultimate world killer. Maybe where Bagan actually has his time to shine. Or even Destroyah. How about Unmade Kong Movies? I'm sure there are at least a few. Tarzan vs King Kong, King Kong vs Frankenstein, Universal's Kong remake that lost out to Dino DeLaurentis, DeLaurentis's attempts to make a sequel to his remake before 'King Kong Lives', Peter Jackson's original King Kong remake treatment, and Skull Island: Blood of the Kong... just off the top of my head.

While on the subject of the 1956 American release, regardless of being an Americanization, it kinda has enough material to be technically counted as an adaptation thus being technically the first American Godzilla movie. While the story remains the same, it wasn't released the way Ishirō Honda filmed it, it was revised and executed differently, especially with newly filmed scenes with new character Steve Martin being the main character of the story. So the first American Godzilla is actually the Toho Godzilla.

What hurts more is that Godzilla 3D to the MAX was going to be the first IMAX exclusive non-documentary feature film but it was then reworked into Gamera 3D, still from Yoshimitsu Banno, which also didn't happen.
But the most insulting thing is that instead of either a Godzilla or Gamera movie being the first IMAX exclusive film, we instead got Sia's Music, which is that film filled with offensive stereotypes of not just autistic people, but also gay people, black people and Asian people, while also promoting restraint for handling autistic meltdowns, when they are known to kill people. And the film was backed by the autism hate group Autism Speaks. The first IMAX exclusive film was Sia's insult to autism rather than a badass Godzilla or Gamera film.
Toei also allowed them to use a modified godzilla suit in Ultraman
Bagan has been considered enough times to make fans wonder why toho never give it a chance in a film. I mean look at how films like biollante, 2000, and a few others with new monsters did. Bagan could be the same level if not better

The Red Moon film doesn’t really feel like the Godzilla (2014) film. There was no aliens in Godzilla (2014). The government didn’t want the MUTO to meet so they can fight, the 2 MUTO meet each other without the government’s help. Also there was no 3rd monster birthed. There were hundreds of eggs, but none of them hatched.

Toho wouldn’t allow any outside productions to make Godzilla lose or die. Their contract won’t allow it anyway. Plus Godzilla losing to Gamera? Yeah that’s an insult to Godzilla’s image. I’m glad they said no.
@@michaeljason2593 Godzilla losing to Mothra has been a canon thing since the Showa era. Godzilla losing to King Ghidorah is also a thing as well. When something is established in the series, you can't expect change. However, he is wrong when mentioning that Gamera was suppose to win against Godzilla. The Godzilla vs Gamera movie never stated who was going to win since the storyboard of the movie had not been in the works yet. It was only the concept idea that was flying around between Toho and Kadokawa Films. Reasons for Toho backing off is unknown, but Toho did not have a lot of respect for Gamera (I mean after all Gamera was a rival company's mascot kaiju). Toho would ironically help distribute the Heisei Gamera trilogy around Japan and eventually the US.

I feel like out of all the cancelled godzilla movies Godzilla vs Bagan would've the coolest considering Bagans interesting design and that hes not just some alien monster like ghidorah and Gigan. I personally like Bagan's design used in the Godzilla video game and I feel it would've been best if they had gone with that design although the multiple forms design also sounds cool too.

For the bride idea, I think of her being a lost Godzillasaur revived as well, being the mother of his son and main Godzilla's love before becoming the famous kaiju. The daughter of a scientist is transferred into a cloned body of a female Godzillasaur. Making her a sympathetic monster of a human in a monster body, yet goes for Godzilla over time due to pheromones and true love of the monster since humanity feared her.
Low key, if I had 3 wishes, 2 of em would be for the alt 90s Godzilla, and bride of Godzilla, cuz they sound insanely awesome.
