I did something similar with a ‘52 F1 air filter. It’s posted on the HAMB. Only difference is, the part you put on top of the filter, I put that on the bottom and used JBWeld to fix it in place. The 3 tabs around the outside of that ring will keep it flat in the bottom of the base. Then your air filter will sit higher. Also I used a piece of vacuum hose, slit along its length, and put it on the flange where you cut off the top piece. That not only protects you from cuts, it helps create a seal between the top piece and the filter.
The reason you had to trim the base is because you have a truck air cleaner and a air horn for a car on your 94carb. The truck air horn for the 94 fits neatly inside the flange that you had to cut, and the thumbscrew tightens it down. Too late for that but you will know next time.

Oh I’m aware of the reasons that it did not fit. We swapped to a different carb with a different neck. 👍

I’m sure this has been many times. But I like this video, because so many have just replacing for modern one. Spoiling the factory appearance

Like it. I am doing one now. What was the PN # on the air filter

I like it. If you left another inch or two on the lid side it would hide the top of the air filter and no one will ever know it's a conversion.

Thanks. I wanted it to still look very similar to the original. It would be even more stealth if I ran a K&N or similar black filter but I’m ok with the white one for now. I wanted to ensure sufficient air flow so that’s why I chose to keep the lip on the lid short.

When it was totally sealed with the lidd. Why not just drill one inch holes all the way around the base.

I do like that idea as well but I was going for a more factory look on this one. I realize that this style filter wasn’t an option back then but I wanted it to at least look like it belongs. I’ll keep that idea in mind for a future build though. Love it!
