      This is basically just video essayists in a nutshell. They're always talking about random things that you had no previous interest in, but the videos are entertaining to watch. Summoning Salt definitely has much more of a formal essay type format than Jimmy, but still.

    It is fun to see someone from outside the scene trying to understand what happened 20 years and how different the view is. It is retrospective of course. There were so many other, that are not named. It is more a list of the 10 most remarkable person's the scene has, rather than the best, since they are from different times and of different generations. From my perspective the first generation has worked towards: larger, bigger, higher. The second generation has focussed on technical aspects like spins and insane combinations. The current generation, almost free of pressure, is trying to get the fun back. The do what ever you can think of without being laughed at. This sport has so much evolved and it is really great to see somebody like you working publicly your way through the matter. Keep it on. Get in touch with "us". We are always open minded and friendly. We have been through so much. Even if I decided to leave the scene, my heart and plenty memories are still there. Oh, and the scene itself is so small and connect. Almost every guy you mentioned has meet each other and talk to each other at least once. So just pick one you can grab and I am sure you will end up talking to whom ever you want. Eugen lives next to me and we had him to almost ever event we organized through out Europe during 2011 and 2014. You should look up Winterclash and visit the winterclash. It is that event. Held in Eindhoven. 2022 is delayed an announced but... Covid... We hope for the best. Winterclash is probably the single largest and most prestigious event in the global scene. Started by Jojo Jacobi and itself so full of stories and mind-blowing things. Oh my dear I could literally cry right now, talking back from all my great memories in 15 years with this great community.

      X-games ditched it because it's the only sport played on their surface that you can't bail off. The injuries were too much for their insurance. I expect nothing has changed unless someone has designed breakaway rollerblades. I wouldn't get my hopes up, the most horrendous crashes I've seen were rollerbladers. There is simply no way to land on your feet in an emergency when you have wheels attached. Bikes have rubber and air for impact, Boards have flex. No shock absorption on rollerblades. All of this adds to the hospital bill regardless of your skill level. Don't ditch any safety gear if you want any significant length career in this specific sport, and plan on surgeries.

    I was a rollerblader back when aggressive started. Someday you should do a video on the guys who started the aggressive scene. Like Arlo Eisenberg and Chris Edwards. Look up videos like The Hoax and Hoax 2. Or Mad Beef. The tricks will not look too impressive by today's standards. But for the mid-1990s these guys were doing stuff never before done that laid foundation for today's skate scene. And as far as knees go, mine hurt now in my early 40's. But I had surgery back in my teenage years when I used to skate. Recently I tried a skate park for the first time with my son. Never had skate Parks back then - only street stuff around town and maybe a ramp in someone backyard.

    This list is either missing a lot of really important goated names if it’s going for the best ever that are still alive (broskow, farmer, shima), or a lot of really important more recent skaters if it’s talking about the best in the game today. Either way, Alex Broskow is missing. He was a legend in the hammer era, and is still an absolute giant in the new school smallball technique/style era. And then there’s all of his phases in between the two. If we were to judge bladers by their range across all their video parts in the same way that we discuss bands by their range across their albums, Broskow would be the undisputed GOAT. Even though we don’t, he’s still always in the conversation. The fact that both of those sentences are true is insane. Jimmy, if you haven’t seen his parts, go watch them. All of them. Enjoy.

      @meanisshow I completely agree and would also add Shane Yost to the list as well he's a Aussie that helped change the game.
      Alot of Aussie and USA guys & girls from the 90s started to refine what it ment to do aggressive skating.
      Take ROCES for example when that company started out in aggressive skates it was all new so it took time for it to get to where aggressive roller blading has gotten to E.G of this is ROCES ROMES/ROCES IMPALA & OF COURSE G1 MAJESTIC 12'S.

    Carlos Pianowski, Ian Mcleod, Dominic Sagona, Jeff Stockwell, Brian Shima, Jon Elliott, Chris Farmer,
    (editing in more : Aaron Feinberg, Montre Livingston, Alex Broskow)
    There could be another list made for the most influential rollerbladers :
    Chris Edwards and Arlo Eisenberg (early days)
    Dustin Latimer and Jon Julio (late 90's and early 2ks mostly, Jon is still in the industry)

      Danny Beer is an absolute beast. I think people write him off because of the fun-weird shit he does. But the dude has some insane talent and probably the best control on skates I've seen in a while. Even the goofy stuff requires so much skill to control. And you have to give him credit, the man's pro-skates were some of the first to get notoriety outside of the skate community. Hell, I think big fashion publications did write-ups on them.

    The lore behind “blood money“;
    Brian Aragon was a pro skater For a company called Able frames.... they were really good frames but all of the “cool kids“ rode ground control frames. Brian was pressured by his friends and the company who sponsored his boots (Razors, who owns ground control) to leave the Able frame company.
    I don’t fault him for leaving but his timing was really poor... The Brian Aragon 2 Able frame was already being manufactured in his special color way. The frames were done but the packaging wasn’t. Because Brian quit, the owner of Able(Azikiwee Anderson) called the new frames “blood money“ because they were white with red highlights. Azikiwee then took out a full-page ad in the biggest inline skating magazine whining about Aragon leaving.
    I loved the frames and Azikiwee is a great guy but he just got too emotional. Brian Aragon‘s response was that little page burning stunt in the razors team video “ego“
    Fun fact: Azikiwee Anderson did stunt skating in the 1997 movie “Batman & Robin”. He was one of Mr. Freeze’s goons

    • @kofbanana
      @kofbanana 3 роки тому

      Bullshit! He talked about it on the Jump Street podcast saying that he just did not like the frames and preferred the GC ones. A very logical and important decision to go with what makes him skate better. The Able manager and owner is the one to start the diss and talked a lot off shit saying Brien "sold out" and what not and even went as far as paying for an entire page in the Daily Bred magazine just to shit on him. What you see in the edit is him burning that page.

      @flyingonblades 3 роки тому +6

      @@kofbanana The thing that Brian didn’t mention on that podcast is Azikiwee offered to create an entire new frame for him if he stayed so the whole “ he skated better on ground control frames” is irrelevant. Other than that you agreed with pretty much everything I said I guess you didn’t really read my entire post.
      I’m not hating on Brian. He was a kid at the time with a lot of old people trying to manipulate him, both Azikiwee and Andy(the owner of Razors/ground Control). Most people would’ve made the same decision that Brian did, it’s just that his timing was poor...

    Strong top 10 coming from an OG rollerblader who’s been skating 20+ years! Keep it coming. With your parkour background I think you would like Roman Abrate. Skate park legend!

    Great to see someone so hyped about rollerblading and getting into it well after teenage years

    Mushroom Blading and Danny Beer for extremely creative, pretty humourous skating.
    CJ Wellsmore for being a god-tier park skater.

    Jimmy, loved it. Here's two absolute beasts you need to check out. Pat Lennen - 4x4-Leading the blind and the smoothest most stylish Mike 'Murda' Johnson.
