  • Every native Ontario turtle is a Species-at-Risk, and TWC’s team works hard to save each one who is in need of help. These reptiles face many challenges… from mothers who sadly lose their lives to car strikes, to the disturbance of nests that are full of vulnerable, precious eggs. Over 200 turtle eggs were cared for in the incubators this summer.
In a rare case, two tiny snapping turtles had hatched from the same egg before being brought in. Conjoined twins… TWC’s wildlife experts were confounded! The babies were attached by tissue, thought to be the yolk sac, and needed to be separated. But how?
Watch all it took to help these twins, as well as hundreds more hatchlings this season.

Wow! What a good turtle turnout!
Have you ever thought of reachong out to possibly collab with Snake Discovery? Theyre a big reptile UA-cam channel. You both incubate a TON of eggs and love reptiles. They've hatched turtles before too. It could be really great exposure since they have a large following too.

Wow! Over 200 eggs, that is extraordinary! And having over 150 hatch is such a success story. I can only imagine how much work and effort goes into the hatch stage with all those containers and the need to check all for humidity etc... that is A TON of work. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped and help these sweet hatchlings. As for the conjoined twins, wow! Great that the surgery to separate them was successful and that the one survived AND returned to the wild! I cried tears of joy watching it return to the great outdoors. They are so darn cute, aren't they? Thank you, yet again, awesome and amazing TWC! You provide such a vital and priceless service to our city and community.
