But why are the boats out of the water? Repairs? Very bad weather coming? Otherwise, why are they just not anchored in deep water with a motorised dinghy to get to shore?
Interesting that they dont use any sort of 'woods' or tubing as runners between the hull and the beach. It also look rather hard with the lack of 'digging in' the boat does. Nice to see another way of recovering a fishing boat.
These cutters have a very long tradition and were formerly mostly built on site, each village had its small shipyard. The ships are designed to slide well over the sand and have a very strong keel. The bolt and the rudder are slightly higher than the keel and are also structurally protected. from 5:06 it is easy to see how the screw turns freely
@@tomdeininger7379 this is the north sea, not often as calm as this. You did see the shoreline right.. There is no natural harbour. Best place is on land
They have a concrete block laying out in the ocean, with a trolley system going in to the shore. So they can pull them out with the bullbozer aswell :)
You can do the same thing with a DINGHY! Create a LOOP and put an ANCHOR offshore. Go ashore in the dinghy..PULL in out (via the Loop) offshore. Went ready to leave...PULL dinghy in.
I have to wonder who came up with this system (a major stockholder in Caterpillar?). Last I checked, a Caterpillar D10 Dozer is $1,600,000, without blade. Maintenance isn't going to be cheap from operating in sand. Why not rent a dozer for one month, cut a harbor and hire a clamshell dredge to connect it to ocean?
@@damsgaardc can you then explain Hanstholm and Hirtshals habour plus Nørre Vorupør and Løkken pier at the North sea? granted they also drag the fishing boats onto shore at the piers.
We do this every day in my village boats not as big but are beach is alot steeper we use a winch to pull up and a tractor to push down and greased timbers under the keel
In the UK they drive the new Lifeboats up on the beach at speed lot of good that does. so I can see the same here, that will keep the barnacle off the bottom.
There are quite a number of beach-launched fishing boats in the UK too - there's some historical basis for it, with small towns and coastal communities having access to a good market for fish, but no harbour. Secondhand dozers are much cheaper that a million dollars, maybe $20k to $50k and sharing their expenses between number of good-earning inshore fishing boats is pretty practical. A sand or small shingle beach with a small incline makes it easy to drag the boat up, and having a hull fitted with sacrificial rubbing strakes on the bilges and the keel means that the hulls don't get much damage.

There are anchors or sometimes concrete blocks around 150 meters further out. On those hangs a pulley with a rope. When the cat pulls one end of the rope onto the beach, the cutter is towed to the sea from the other end. The rope hangs the cutter on a buoy when it goes out to the sea. On other beaches, winds are used instead of the cat, or tractors to move the cutter

Duuuude ! that line throw !!!
Fascinating. I was there a couple years ago. Really fun/interesting to watch. Burke
Just love the 'purring' sound of that big V8 in the dozer.

The D9L had a V8.
It may be a D9L.
D10N probably a V12

nice this video. where is this area located in north denmark?
For the cost of that dozer, you could build a pretty nice pier.
Dozer you are stupid
Really fascinating. Lovely boats. Denmark? :-)
Yes, Roughly North-West from the city Aalborg
Why are they painted identical ?
How about a dock, or a marina or a boat lift? Boat crane? Where is this place?
Ok but that throw tho like damnn

I would have thought the same!
These boats are specially designed with metal keel protectors and bow.
I want to see how there put back in.
What's the purpose of dragging them out of the water? Are they shored for the winter?
@Willo Williams Perhaps like this: ua-cam.com/video/TPzIR7IXJ4Q/v-deo.html

The high tide gets them off again..
There is a winch on the beach , a block hundreds of meters to sea ...

you can't build a harbour here. The North sea is very rough and the waves will wash it away in the first storm
