Na these are just old guys that grew up without any of these “safety’s” so they hate them to be honest I’m 20 and everytime I touch a new piece of equipment I swear I get mad over all the safety’s beeping at me or not letting me start the damn thing
I have to admit the seat one is annoying if you are like me and mow 3 acres of a mile infested church yard hitting bumps and if that seat switch bounces you up and down it can cause engine damage and backfiring. The most annoying thing is on the last mower a cub cadet having to turn the key back a spot and hit a button so the electric PTO doesn't shut the blades off. Personally I still like my old john deere 314 hydrostatic. Its Kohler engine is great. And it is mostly metal
yep, have a friend who got a new john deere lawn tractor and after a few weeks she called me as it would start but shut off the second you tried to put it into gear or turn on the blade. the safety switch in the seat had popped out of the cheap plastic insert and wasn't actuating. I spliced those wires together and it has never caused an issue.
Depending on if theres an override for the reverse one, i leave em cause im not the only one using my mowers usually. The seat ones i only disable if theyre the shite version that kills the mower if you bounce in the seat too much 😂 aint broke dont fix it. If it causes me issue or headache, its getting bypassed though. I tend to leave safety devices until they give me a reason to remove them. When they subtract function more than they add safety, they can go.
I shut up and began listening the moment I saw the plaid, scruff and cigarette. My brain just knows these guys know what they’re talking about and if they don’t they at least sound like they do until they don’t. But this man is spitting facts 😂😂😂
Absolutely those are the ones I bypass also, it sucks when you try to stand up a little to get a better view of something and the mower shuts off because of the safety switch in seat
Im.leaving the seat jumper alone. I've encountered a bee hive a time or two and the switch saved my mower from driving off after i jumped off while getting stung.
I helped somebody that bought a fancy Deere with a 4 wire seat switch so you couldn't defeat it. Took the switch and jammed it under the seat frame. Done.
Here in Australia,I bought a new ride on mower last April. The safety switch on the seat is annoying but if I do what you did, I’ll void the warranty! And at 7 grand for a mower I’d rather have the warranty.
The shop where I bought my last one had to fix some issues under warranty, and when they brought it back, damned if they didn't fix the safety switches I had bypassed.
So if parking break is on handles open you can get off. If handles are running and you pull break it kills to save the drives. However it's such a pain.
I mean in my opinion I like having the parking brake myself but I mean do whatever you prefer for your set up. I do like the jumper extensions I'm gonna have to do that
i bought a new skidloader a few years back. When it was delivered the delivery guy drove it off the trailer with no problems. afterwards i hop on to play around with it and the damn thing wont move at all. The delivery guy hops back in to check why it wont move and it works perfectly fine. Again i hop in and nothing. Now We are both confused. Grab the owners manual and find out the safety switch for the seat is weight restricted to 175 pounds, i weigh 160. I had to "special order" a new switch for my weight class for the very low sum of $2,300
I had someone sell me a brand new snow blower. It was nice electric start all that cool stuff. The guy lost the key amd was selling it really cheap. He figured i would have to have a key made 😅😅😅😅😅 i went home did this and it fired right up
There was this guy i worked with... for one day. He removed the safety light from the rented scissor lift while trying to stop the safety beep... the boss asked why the light is no longer working. Myself and the boss's son told him what the other guy did.
When I was like 17 I had a job doing mowing weed eating firewood and some other things and the zero turn I was using had a seat safety that was worn out and every little bump I hit the mower started to shut off and holy shit that was a day lol

Na these are just old guys that grew up without any of these “safety’s” so they hate them to be honest I’m 20 and everytime I touch a new piece of equipment I swear I get mad over all the safety’s beeping at me or not letting me start the damn thing
@Tap_rack5.56 ur 20 Jr gonna vet mad at fuxkin everything
Oooookay k2skier
Yeah sure thing man I'm sure that is why they are missing digits it had to be from bypassing the seat switch on their lawn mowers.
Leave the one in the drive handles, you'll need them.😂 My wife can vouch for that statement. 😂😂
The only "safety" switch still on my mower is the oil pressure switch. That thing will mow in reverse with no body on it.
Two different mowers I’ve owned had a problem with that seat switch. Good advice to just bypass that stupid thing.👍🏻
yep, have a friend who got a new john deere lawn tractor and after a few weeks she called me as it would start but shut off the second you tried to put it into gear or turn on the blade. the safety switch in the seat had popped out of the cheap plastic insert and wasn't actuating. I spliced those wires together and it has never caused an issue.
As a Gen X myself, that’s the first thing I did to my dear John rider mower.
I got to get a feel for it before I decide if I'm going to bypass that switch or not.
Absolutely those are the ones I bypass also, it sucks when you try to stand up a little to get a better view of something and the mower shuts off because of the safety switch in seat
Lmfao, everyone always questions me how I get off the mower and it's still running, genius jump it out 😂
Im.leaving the seat jumper alone. I've encountered a bee hive a time or two and the switch saved my mower from driving off after i jumped off while getting stung.
That seat is the first one. It's getting bypassed before it leaves the lot new or used.
Every lesson my old man taught me came with burning eyes and holding my breath...but we always washed up with ETHYL😅
My dryer has all safeties bypassed 😂 and the heating element is from an electric heater and the timer is a Christmas lights timer
THIS - sounds - beautiful!
The shop where I bought my last one had to fix some issues under warranty, and when they brought it back, damned if they didn't fix the safety switches I had bypassed.
Lawn mowers, bikes, quads, atvs, cars ill bypass any safety switch that causes a mild inconvenience.
Dude you remind me of my grandpa 😆 miss that man! And not calling you old lmao. Just the shirt, hat, demeanor, and the ciggy 😂
A fuse works the best that way if there is something wrong it pops the fuse and it slides right in
My raptor sd stays running with the sticks in park...so the safeties don't interfere with needing to get off the machine to pick something up.
Yep. First thing I did was bypass the seat and reverse switch. Every time.
So if parking break is on handles open you can get off. If handles are running and you pull break it kills to save the drives. However it's such a pain.
I mean in my opinion I like having the parking brake myself but I mean do whatever you prefer for your set up. I do like the jumper extensions I'm gonna have to do that
I had a garden tiller that had a wire safety switch on handle bar that would stop the tiller tines if i let go of the handle bar throttle control
This video gives best advice, best lawn mower, tractor.👍
Started doing this for my uncle back in 03, I was 13 years old. Good old days when you could ride your bike without getting shot for no reason.
i bought a new skidloader a few years back. I had to "special order" a new switch for my weight class for the very low sum of $2,300
Whoa! 175 was set way too high... Half the skidder operators I ever seen were skinny meth heads to begin with! (that was a joke...)
@@eclecticmetalart I was told it's set that way to keep children under 15 years old from operating it
As a member of the Gen-X, I say, “Yep.”
Grew up on a farm with old stuff didn’t have any safety crap. Got a new lawn mower would mow in reverse dad and I fixed that and all the other crap.
The less parts there are the less parts there are to break or fail. The on/off switch is the "safety switch".
You might find it crazy- but I get mad when I can just "hear" my neighbors...
Dont remove the seat sensor, just turn off the pto then you can get off the seat without it turning off. Break sensor bypass is a must though.
The only one on mine that still functions is the one that stops the mower from starting if the blades are engaged
Don't forget to put the disclaimers up. No responsible for accidents, fire, theft and loss of limbs.
Or tears, hurt feelings, separations or divorces...
I had someone sell me a brand new snow blower. It was nice electric start all that cool stuff. The guy lost the key amd was selling it really cheap. He figured i would have to have a key made 😅😅😅😅😅 i went home did this and it fired right up
It is s criminal this man should ever have to pay for a beer😂😂
I fully agree - and willing to accept a few!
The reverse blade stop one is the first I disable.
Ty for sharing somthing anyone with a mower has done for decades
There was this guy i worked with... for one day.
He removed the safety light from the rented scissor lift while trying to stop the safety beep... the boss asked why the light is no longer working. Myself and the boss's son told him what the other guy did.
I don't even have a yard of grass, but I knew this saw gonna be good when we saw a lit cigarette pointing at a gas cap
And the low oil shutoff…hate having to dump some of my beer in the engine to finish mowing
When I was like 17 I had a job doing mowing weed eating firewood and some other things and the zero turn I was using had a seat safety that was worn out and every little bump I hit the mower started to shut off and holy shit that was a day lol
Some models have safety switches that only need to be unplugged. If you jumper, it won't run. Reverse psychology lol
I would tend to agree however my yard is a steep hill with a massive ditches so the seat one isn't a terrible thing 😂
“The drive handles, yea. THE SEAT, NO. THE PARKING BREAK, NO. Bypass them son of a guns…”
43 yr Aussie male here.
Gen X'rs taught us well- everything safety wise gets disabled
I have the push to mow in reverse safety button bypassed but I left the seat shut off connected
I had to disconnect the seat switch because every time my 95 pound wife was out mowing and hit a bump, the dang mower would backfire and stall. Also had to disconnect the back up switch on the deck. It would leave uncut spots in the yard. 🙄
This man reminds me of all of my uncles on my mom's side.
Forgets to .mention the fuel cut off solenoid in the fuel bowl. Easy m10 bolt that will alleviate a lot of starting issues.
