  • More than 350,000 Syrians have been killed under the Assad regime, but Omar Alshogre escaped being one of them. He survived three years of torture and imprisonment because one person - his mother - took decisive action. Now, Omar asks the UN and the international community to save Syrians and uphold basic principles of human rights and international law.
Omar gave these opening remarks at the UN Security Council Arria-formula Meeting on Accountability in the Syrian Arab Republic. He is also a Doha Debates Ambassador.
