Mine slips and it does not cut or cut and emboss dies properly. I have owned many manual and electric die-cutting machines and every one, except the Scout has worked right from the box perfectly. I'm going to contact Spellbinders because right now I have an overpriced paperweight.

Thanks Rhonda for sharing this information with us. I’m sorry but I don’t think you should have to SEASON a machine to get it to work properly. I’ve been crafting for years, I have several die cutting machines (both electric and hand cranked) never ever have had to SEASON a machine!! Send your machine back!! ❤️🤗🙋🏻‍♀️

I had the slip issue when I received my scout. I too was very disappointed. The plates would not feed through the machine. I placed a silicone mat under my machine to stop the initial sliding of the machine and kept trying. It finally worked and became “seasoned”. She works like a charm now. Hopefully you get your issue fixed and anyone with a problem like I had doesn’t give up.

I had an issue with my Spellbinder Platium and I got in contact with them and was very disappointed. I have been crafting over 30 years and had a scrapbook store and use to carry spellbinder dies and loved them. Years later I saw their platium machine and loved that it did 8” paper. My son bought me it for Christmas and it never really performed like I thought it would but it did cut it just didn’t have the amount of pressure I thought it should. Fast forward a few years it got worse finally I looked inside where the rollers were and the plastic holding them was all cracked and broken. I don’t know how long it had been like that but the machine had just turned 5 but it must of been like that for at least a few years. They finally did offer for me to buy another machine at half off but being in Canada it would have ended up costing way too much buying it from them so l passed. I will never buy another machine from them because they don’t back their product and now I see I wasn’t wrong to think that.

Thank you, Rhonda, for the update. I appreciate you reading his response. I send you lots of good luck in that your next machine will be even better! (While I understand that a machine may need some seasoning, you did so much in the 1st video, it should be seasoned by now right!?) ❤

OH MY GOSH!!!! I Just ran into this video. I have the same issue as you. My machine (the lilac) would not grab the plates and even worst, if I tried to include a die. I too got the same emails from spellbinders with the seasoning information and an attachment with the instructions to season the machine. I followed each step and the machine is still not working. I told them I wanted a replacement but they just sent me a return label. So im returning it. I too love spellbinders, so I just ordered the rose quartz from Scrapbook and hope it works this time. I too have a platinum 6 and love it. I think spellbinders is the best.

My question is why put the machine on the market when they had the same issues with the small die machine that looks identical to the scout from STampin Up? I have a useless machine.

    • @cottagebliss
      @cottagebliss 29 днів тому +4

THAT's the whole point, you have a useless machine, that you PAID to use for a reasonable amount of time consistent with the experience of others. And you MUST perform a task you were not aware of upon purchase. The agreement changed without your consent. Wondering how deep and wide our collective boat is.
My experience I was told to Season the Rose Quartz...I simply could NOT get the plates through with their sandwich. There was NOT enough height to take the plates, the width was fine. I will email again Friday. I want a refund.

Hi Rhonda Thanks for bringing this up! Literally the lilac scout was so tight it bent my dies my thin wafer dies and wouldn’t go through at all with the dies that came with the scout! I did get another Pink Scout which works well with no “seasoning”! But I’m still waiting for my refund and it’s been a hassle. I had to be very insistent about the lilac scout not working before I finally received the shipping label for return. I hope you get your machine replaced! I thank you for your video about this because I thought I was going crazy! I appreciate all you do and I thank you for bringing this up!

I had the exact same problem. I just received the return label and hope to get my refund soon. I ordered the pink one this time from scrapbook. Hopefully, it’ll work this time.

Now I don't feel like I'm crazy! I was so excited to finally receive my Scout and then so disappointed when it cut only a portion of the die. I built what would be a typical sandwhich of platform, cutting plate, paper, die and top plate and ran it through. What should haved cut did not. I then added one of the shims in the box and it cut. I did not think I should need a shim with the die I was using. Then I reached down and picked up my sidekick. plate, paper, die & plate. All fo the die cut perfectly. Not really sure if I expected too much as this is my first Spellbinders machine. I loved the idea of the 3 inch width. Just a scooch wider than the sidekick. Loved the smaller footprint. I have Big Shot, the much larger big shot that is manual and the latest Sizzix switch, Tim holtz vagabond and Sidekick. I am not new to cutting. I will stick with this Scout as I really want to love it as well. I also had to tape down my die as it slid like crazy.

Hi. I also have the scout but had no problems with it. I accidentally ran two sheets of 100# Cardstock thru to cut out a small die with intricate details…but I flipped the die with the cutting side up. It cut perfectly…but I was more surprised that there actually were two sheets of 100# Cardstock and the die cut thru them both. Tried again with two sheets of Cardstock and a different intricate die…cut came out perfectly. Hope that helps.

Glad to hear I was not alone.
My dies would not go through the machine. I received the same list of things to do. I was told that it was nothing wrong with the machine. I was told to return it for a refund. I thought they would at least offer me a new machine which they didn’t . While waiting for an answer from spellbinders to resolve this issue, I was watching Coffee and Crafting, where she turned the A plate over. That worked. My thought were
why should I have to do this
on a machine I paid go money for. I then purchased
    the machine from A Cherry
on Top. I was totally dissatisfied with my response from Spellbinders especially with amount of money I have spent with the company. After reading the comments I was glad to see it wasn’t just me.

Interesting I too am having the same issue. I’m sorry that I didn’t see your video before buying. I’m having a terrible time with spellbinder sending me a return label. The first response was the same cookie cutter information that you are reading from your letter. I did exactly what they suggested to me, but it still would not work. I sent another email. They responded with the seasoning of the machine. They told me to keep on crafting. I still can not get the machine to cut even with thin paper such as copy paper. I even told them that I tried multiple dies simple and integrate dies. No response. So I tried using the exact dies with the exact paper in my Big Shot, my Gemini and even my mini Temu cutter. The dies worked in all of my machines, but the spellbinder scout. It is not the dies as suggested. I emailed again. I still have had no response. I was so very disappointed. I wanted a little machine with which to go to my weekly crops. I guess I will just have to keep hounding them.

Hi. Just happened to see your video. I am not trying to bash on spellbinders, but the queen of cardmaking said that SB has great customer service. I couldn't disagree more. I have received 2 different Large die of the month kits, and both came without one of the layering dies in both, and 1 2d embossing folder that didn't emboss at all. Both occasions (for LDotM) they gave me a $5 voucher (which can NOT be used on any of the club kits) I continued to see the same dies being sold, which just upset me even more...are they selling them without the same pieces. Only once did they make it right on a stamp and die kit...only because EVERYONE did not receive the same missing item. I never did hear back regarding the embossing folder. I have since stopped purchasing from them. It's hard too, because they do have some great products, but i work hard for my money. I wish you all the luck with them and your scout. I will continue to make things with the products I have purchased from them.

I am so happy that i found your UA-cam channel as I have had the same issue. Like yourself, I am a big Spellbinders fan but I was so disappointed with this machine and will be sending it back. Good luck to you and thank you for posting.

So glad I saw this video before purchasing a machine from SB. I have an older Gemini Jr. & a new Empress which is awesome and I highly recommend. I got the Empress July 3, 2024 when it was $70 off. I’ve been wanting a manual machine for 3D embossing folders mainly and was just about to purchase a SB machine. That will not be happening after this fiasco w/ their new machines. It’s a pretty simple premise not to sell a machine that doesn’t work upon receipt. Let SB “season” it before selling if that’s how they want to make it. I will be waiting for the Gina K Intricut to come back in stock…I love the idea of being able to adjust the pressure to eliminate shims. Sorry Spellbinders but whoever decided it was okay to sell a machine that isn’t ready for sale due to seasoning issues made a big mistake.

I bought a previous version of the scout. It is 2.5 inches wide. It does work but I found it hard to use. It has a suction plate that does not work most of the time. So I have to hold the machine down while cranking. I thought it would be great for all the small dies and a handy travel machine. It finally broke and I vowed not to get another small die cut machine.

I have the lilac scout, and haven’t had any difficulty with it doing what it’s supposed to do. I’m sorry that you and others have had trouble and not the kind of response that is expected from Spellbinders. I have the platinum 6, Betterpress and glimmer systems, and like you have come to expect a level of quality based on prior purchases. I do hope that the company will appropriately address what seems to be a fairly good size of customers with similar issues.

I hope it’s better than my Prism… the gears break so easily in them because they’re crappily made with cheap soft metal and plastic… they sure didn’t want to replace anything for any of us,they just discontinued the item and wrote us all off en masse

I also had a hard time getting the plates to go in all the way. It would slide & then stop after only about an inch went thru. So frustrating so I called Customer Service & the CSR told me it had to be seasoned. She wanted me to send her a video & proof of purchase. She mentioned in my email that the beveled edge of the 3D folder should go in first.
I tried that & it worked. I also tried several other dies, they cut no problem. I didn’t know the beveled edge of the 3D embossing folder had to go in 1st. I’m sorry you’re still having issues 😢

Just catching this video. So many videos out there with no issues. I have never heard of this type of issue and don’t know of anyone who has had it either. Over the years i have had 8 different machines and never had one that slipped or didn’t cut. So sorry some of you have had this issue.

The problem I had at first was that the sandwich moved off center as I began rolling it thru so I had to straighten it out and it did it again. After a few times thru that stopped.

WoW!! Well, I know you have been crafting for many years. Me too!! So long I have that 1000 lbs original Sizzix press. Ugh, that thing is heavy!!! I have never SEASONED a machine yet. I do have a Gemini Mini that I am trying to return to HSN. Do not like it at all!! It will not cut either. I think I am going to wait a bit and see how all this plays out. I'm sorry you're having this issue. It sure makes you think, doesn't it. Thanks for sharing his response. I hope you get a new machine. Have fun on your trip!!!
