From Wikipedia: "White supremacy or white supremacism is the racist belief that white people are superior to people of other races and therefore should be dominant over them." Shawn seems to think that "black supremacy" means that black people are in charge of society, in the same way that white people are in charge now. That's also a definition for white supremacy, apparently: "In academic usage, particularly in usage which draws on critical race theory or intersectionality, the term "white supremacy" can also refer to a political or socioeconomic system, in which white people enjoy a structural advantage (privilege) over other ethnic groups, on both a collective and individual level". I honestly didn't know this was a thing, but that's on me. @@ShawnCee it needs to be said because there are BLM advocates going around demanding white people to kneel before them Shawn, and this is just an example
Shawn Cee I wouldn’t say it’s completely pointless to keep everyone on the right track. Some people need to hear this. Not everyone of course, and not even the majority, but we know some people needed to hear this. I don’t think there is an issue with striving for perfection basically. We can’t have the bad apples that wanna just go and say, “fuck all white people” when the main goal is equality. I don’t see why everyone got so offended over something that didn’t apply to them. I guess it can seem condescending, but the moral he had wasn’t too wrong to me. We need to make sure this movement stays as an equality thing. It’s very unlikely for blacks to ever have systematic black supremacy in the United States, but that doesn’t mean it’s okay for some to even have the mindset that their race is greater than another. I think that’s the main point, even if he said it in a funny way
Hélio S. Not all of anything is everything. Just because there’s a few crazy ass protesters and advocates who are treating white people funny or even demanding they can’t fight with us doesn’t represent how every or even a majority of how black people feel. I scroll down my TL and see dozens of tweets commemorating and appreciating white people who stand with us. That’s literally been the main fight for decades. To get white people to recognize our struggle and help us. Terry crews is acting like there’s a majority of protesters who are saying “No! You can’t march with us!” when it is quite the opposite

this video will not age well its one thing to call out internalized racism, its another to call out internalized racism while mocking male sexual assault
Now I wanna preface this by saying I'm behind the BLM movement. However I think the point behind what Terry said is true. There's like a sentiment that if ypure white your opinion on the situation doesn't matter or like you're immediately demonized for being white. I think saying it creates "black supremacy" is a stretch but what it does do is make people who feel pushed aside who would otherwise be on your side turn against you even if they're not really racist. It's kind of how the overwhelming sjw craze created a whole counter culture of shitposting and like "incel" culture. I hope this made sense. It's like Newton's Law it creates an equal and opposite reaction.
Hey Shawn, I've been watching you for a while and I wanted to ask your perspective on this. I'm white and I grew up in a white conservative community. Over the past couple of years, I have come to learn a lot about race and racism and I've been really moved by how real it is and how privileged I am to be able to learn about it on my own time instead of by warnings from my parents or other experiences. Of course, I have a long way to go but a lot of my friends have been saying some really bigoted stuff lately. For example, they were talking to me about how white men are the most systematically oppressed group and that race doesn't really affect anyone anymore (along with using the n-word comedically and so on). Although I'm white, it's hard to see these comments as anything but blatant white privilege. How does one combat that kind of ignorance? Whenever I try to call them out for being ignorant or demonstrating privilege, they get really offended and it's hard to suggest books and articles to them without sounding condescending. What do you do in these situations? Thanks!
Daniel Apsley I hate to say it but a lot of older people who have held those beliefs for their whole life are near impossible to break through to. It’s extremely hard to argue against oppression against black people and how we could fix it when they don’t even believe black people are oppressed in the first place. If you try to show them studies and articles, it’d always “propaganda” and “liberal media”. It really sucks to say, but some are near unmovable. As harsh as it sounds, those beliefs will die when they do. The only thing I can truly suggest is try to get them to hear/see the results of the studies and stuff. Let them draw their own conclusions from those. If they actually make conclusions that are wrong, not just “oh this is propaganda” or whatever, attack the conclusions not their beliefs.
@@pnw8836 Thanks for the response, that makes a lot of sense. After all, it was that which changed my ways rather than being antagonized. It's just so frustrating since I feel a little responsible for having held their views when I was younger. I guess black people have been feeling the frustration of trying to make white people "get" racism for centuries so it's nothing new.
@ 5:00 to be fair, I can’t walk through many black neighborhoods or all black settings without being afraid of getting jumped beat robbed or shot. It’s literally the same on that front. The thing is, you actually have the opportunity to leave whenever you want, can’t say the same for the black folks in those areas Edit: plus, everyone is at risk of getting blasted in a poor, black area, not just white people.
Anyone that has a slightly different opinion then him it seems. Which given the situation is somewhat reasonable. There’s not many neutral opinions on this specific topic. It’s complicated sure but either you are for the institution That upholds racism and systematic oppression or ur not.

i agree with almost everything you said, and what i'm about to say also comes from a place of respect and understanding. now bear in mind i'm not american: i'm white, i was born in italy and this is my experience in a nutshell. italy has always been pretty diverse, but in the last few years constant immigration from third world countries really started to make the place a multiethinc melting pot. of course, as you would imagine, most of the immigrants that get here are poor, and although they are promised a better life, what they find is a job market so utterly shitty even for native italians, that things don't necessarily work out for them. therefore, as you might expect, where there's poverty, crime also rises, and some neighbourhoods in the cities where the newly arrived poor people live, suddenly become more dangerous (or are perceived as such). so when you say that white people don't get to wonder around an ethnically diverse neighbourhood and be scared of stuff, i wouldn't say it's exactly true. again, this is italy and the italian experience, but coming from a place like this i thought i'd seen some stuff and i was ready for everything after having spent some nights at bologna's train station with all that it entails. on top of that, i had no fear walking around the docks at night in edinburgh, scotland, as i was totally at ease walking the streets of osaka, japan at night albeit being drunk. now picture me, going to san francisco and walking through the tenderloin, in plain daylight, and with a friend... i was scared shitless. i don't even know if you consider it a black neighbourhood or not, and to me it wasn't even a racial thing. it was just a mix of feeling bad for the homeless people (i never would've thought to see the most extreme poverty in my life while walking through the richest country in the world... it baffled me), feeling scared of the unpredictability of the people high on drugs (i'd never seen so many all together and so batshit crazy looking), and of course fearing that any one person around me could've carried a gun (which of course it's definitely not a common thing in italy). so to wrap it up, i just wanted to share my personal experience. of course racism is a shit from the past that we have the moral responsibility to fight and relegate to history books, and i say this as the 4th generation of a family of immigrants. but fear and violence know no colour, and i feel i'm all about opposing that too. with the uttermost support and respect
@@mychaeljones7526 i hope the term "tenderloin" is not something offensive in itself. i mean, i wouldn't know, and it's just how it was presented to me by locals. but i think i can interpret your comment as you knowing what kind of place i'm talking about.
Somebody needs to make a real “the problem with Shawn Cee” and cyberbully him for his biased music reviews. Still love you Shawn, but somebody is gonna push you off the high horse.
As a black man myself i think you look at this wrong. Terry Crews is right, racism exist everywhere, not just white against black. We need to stop focusing so much on the color of our skin and get more educated and integrated into society. Too many thugs are promoted these days, they set a horrible example. I hear people talk a lot about racism, but i work in Software and have never experienced it. I don't ever bring it up so people don't associate me with my color only. Maybe you could learn something?
3 points. One, it is difficult to become educated and integrated into society when members of that society are actively pushing your ethnic group away via lack of access to certain social programs, lack of funding in the public sector, and overpolicing/militarised police in black neighbourhoods. Two, the second half of your argument devalues the racial experiences of other black people by saying, "well it never happens to me". i shouldnt need to explain why this is bad logic. Three, "too many thugs promoted in our society". name me one major news outlet that promotes these "thugs", as you call them.
James Scott in music , there are so many black artists who rap or sing about violence and crime etc , which are not good examples for the people they influence , and not every where person is a racist , not every white person believes they are above other races , i feel like the change needs to start from within the black community ( i’m saying that as a young black girl , myself ) why do we (black community ) feel like we’re not as equal to the white one , because we has integrated it into OUR society for years
@@annalouise5074 Ok, i understand your point, and im sorry for being a bit condescending. Me being part of an almost completely white neighbourhood, a lot of us just have implicit bias, not necessarily active racism. The way i view lyrics like that in rap/r&b (sorry for lumping them together a bit) is that they are an EFFECT of years of brutality and poverty that has continually plagued the african ammerican community, and barely cause any actual crime. EG Rick Ross talks so much about cocaine that it is his entire image, but the fact that he does so in the first place is because that is something that a lot of people were forced into due to the extreme poverty caused by segregation, redlining and slavery. Sorry if i made any stupid mistakes there, i really want to become a better ally to BLM and other causes, so if i did fuck up, please tell me. Thanks!
as long as ANY race/religion/caste has majority power, institutional and inter-personal racism will exist, so we should focus on replacing our current system with one that distributes power somewhat equally.
Who would control distribution and what would they distribute? You can’t give someone something that doesn’t exist. If someone created a corporation they wouldn’t give it to someone else but if they never created it in the first place it wouldn’t exist to be given away. Nothing is ever equal. Some people are smarter than others, some people are more talented, some are more creative, some are better at math, some are better at whatever.

Terry has a valid point from his perspective, but of course, we’re in an era where there’s no discussion to further elaborate on what was said to get a better understanding. Same thing happened to Brees, and whoever else isn’t swaying towards the popular opinion.
Edden Yohanes did he mean in comparison to white supremacy? Did he mean that we’re doing too much and should tone it down a notch?
I think Terry Crews is worrying about something like the French revolution, where the oppressed overthrew the oppressors and became the oppressors themself.

The Next Episode: The Problem with Shawn Cee
Thanks!
Dude don't confront their beliefs directly, that's a bad move. They'll end up taking it as an attack and fell deeper into the rabbit hole.
@@reignmyster daniel definitely shouldn't be passive about it tho, then the friends will just brush it off.
You don’t have to apologize for being white
@@pnw8836 Thanks for the response, that makes a lot of sense. After all, it was that which changed my ways rather than being antagonized. It's just so frustrating since I feel a little responsible for having held their views when I was younger. I guess black people have been feeling the frustration of trying to make white people "get" racism for centuries so it's nothing new.

Hey Shawn thanks for letting me produce for your R&B album
all terry crews gave was a warning that it COULD lead to that. this is a stretch.
i agree with almost everything you said, and what i'm about to say also comes from a place of respect and understanding.
now bear in mind i'm not american: i'm white, i was born in italy and this is my experience in a nutshell.
italy has always been pretty diverse, but in the last few years constant immigration from third world countries really started to make the place a multiethinc melting pot.
of course, as you would imagine, most of the immigrants that get here are poor, and although they are promised a better life, what they find is a job market so utterly shitty even for native italians, that things don't necessarily work out for them. therefore, as you might expect, where there's poverty, crime also rises, and some neighbourhoods in the cities where the newly arrived poor people live, suddenly become more dangerous (or are perceived as such).
so when you say that white people don't get to wonder around an ethnically diverse neighbourhood and be scared of stuff, i wouldn't say it's exactly true.
again, this is italy and the italian experience, but coming from a place like this i thought i'd seen some stuff and i was ready for everything after having spent some nights at bologna's train station with all that it entails.
on top of that, i had no fear walking around the docks at night in edinburgh, scotland, as i was totally at ease walking the streets of osaka, japan at night albeit being drunk.
now picture me, going to san francisco and walking through the tenderloin, in plain daylight, and with a friend...
i was scared shitless.
i don't even know if you consider it a black neighbourhood or not, and to me it wasn't even a racial thing.
it was just a mix of feeling bad for the homeless people (i never would've thought to see the most extreme poverty in my life while walking through the richest country in the world... it baffled me), feeling scared of the unpredictability of the people high on drugs (i'd never seen so many all together and so batshit crazy looking), and of course fearing that any one person around me could've carried a gun (which of course it's definitely not a common thing in italy).
so to wrap it up, i just wanted to share my personal experience.
of course racism is a shit from the past that we have the moral responsibility to fight and relegate to history books, and i say this as the 4th generation of a family of immigrants. but fear and violence know no colour, and i feel i'm all about opposing that too.
with the uttermost support and respect
AS SOON AS I READ TENDERLOIN I know EXACTLY where youre coming from.
@@mychaeljones7526 i hope the term "tenderloin" is not something offensive in itself. i mean, i wouldn't know, and it's just how it was presented to me by locals.

"this man really wasn't playing when he was playing them white chicks"
Here we go the victim mentality smh
Three, "too many thugs promoted in our society". name me one major news outlet that promotes these "thugs", as you call them.
so true , excluding white people in the fight against racism will only further build division
Thanks!
The problem with Shawn cee is he never cees my comments
Plz respond I’m desperate for attention
as long as ANY race/religion/caste has majority power, institutional and inter-personal racism will exist, so we should focus on replacing our current system with one that distributes power somewhat equally.

Same thing happened to Brees, and whoever else isn’t swaying towards the popular opinion.
we know what he meant. theres nothing to misinterpret when he thinks were anywhere close to a BLACK SUPREMACY
Edden Yohanes did he mean in comparison to white supremacy? Did he mean that we’re doing too much and should tone it down a notch? @@robfromthefuture214 I'm pretty sure he meant it we as black people dont stop 'white bashing' and guilting and blaming them so much, then theyll never want to work WITH US. What I take from his 'black supremacy' comment, is that he thinks if we alienate white people from our success, our victory will result in black dominance instead of a equal society. I think it's crazy that he thinks we have neither enough power or influence to even realistically overthrow or even convince the white supremacist political and economic leaders of america of the world. Pretty much every country has learn that it PAYS to have group to subjugate and exploit, to some point their racism isnt even personal, it's just a form of economic prosperity.
