Raced one of these with Team Pontihack in 2009 at Reno-Fernley....they handle well and are reasonably fast, although our improvised roof mounted radiator was a giant air brake all weekend...the car was well built by the Valentine brothers out of Seattle. Between them it was Boeing and grunge music in there. Fun.
Fun fact: John DeLorean has a connection to the Fiero. When he was Chief of Pontiac, he wanted to build a 2 seater mid engine sports car. He did come out with the Pontiac Banshee but it never made it to production. The GM leadership did not want Pontiac to have such a car! I own a Fiero GT and an 81 DeLorean. Both are very similar in many ways. The Fiero is much faster though. Both are stock. Both are awesome! If GM didn't kill the Fiero and DeLorean wasn't sacked, these cars would of both been freaking awesome vehicles.
I love my 84 Fiero, she still has the Iron Duke and I really don't want to replace it. This is amazing though, never thought I would see a cousin in a Lemons Race.
That was my thought - get a Delorian (or dress up another car like one - someone already did that dressing up some old pickup as a Cybertruck, similar aesthetic and simple to cobble together out of sheet metal) but don't do the cliche Back to the Future theme everyone does. Instead do some sort of cocaine theme, maybe some sort of drug runner theme.
The Delorian thought - don't do the Back to the Future theme. Probably 50% of Delorians still in existence are that. Do something else absurd, maybe something mocking John Delorian's drug dealing allegations. Dress it up as a (badly done) drug runner or something.
@@EmyrDerfel I believe I've seen a gold-plated Delorian. That would be very $500-my-ass though, and a deliberately shitty gold paint job would be very Lemons. Though probably any intact, usable Delorian would be $500-my-ass, they're too rare and iconic to be that cheap in any condition. But some other cheap junk car (maybe even a Fiero, given it's likewise a disappointingly underpowered mid-engine) could have the body ripped off, roll-bar/frame built onto the floor pan, and sheet metal (again deliberately crappy) welded onto it to resemble a Delorian. Would actually be pretty easy. Someone has already done similar dressing up some crappy old pickup as a Tesla Cybertruck, which is a similar aesthetic.
Don't bet on it, commercial pilot can be at a regional commuter airline or even a single engine Cessna running pipeline inspection. Working for a large airline will pay well however there is little job security. Regardless, there is a lot of training involved in becoming a commercial pilot and responsibility ( like being sued if there is a crash even if it was not your fault . ) . See the vid " What's the Annual Salary of an Airline Pilot " on the channel " 74 Gear " Yes, racing takes $ however, treat racing as having a second road going car and don't have you primary car on payments.
Glad to see well preped Fieros being great at endurance racing.
Gives me hope😉
There is always hope my friend.
"What's it like racing a Fiero?"
"It's like...car racing?"
Manual Shift Fieros are very underrated...

Love this series. Great to hear the "Lemonites" talk
dare to be different at LeMans and race a caddy 4.9 litre swapped Pontiac Fiero!!
Those Fiero’s look cool! 👍
I've started seeing these cars differently since following lemons
I'd love to see a delorean.
It certainly fulfils the lemon criteria.
I can't picture one selling for 500$

I have an 88, it's an absolute blast of a street legal go cart. With studded snows it's PURE FUN in the shit!!
“Classic sports car endurance racing” yes lemons in a nutshell
Second! Fiery Fieros are insane!
I love my 84 Fiero, she still has the Iron Duke and I really don't want to replace it. This is amazing though, never thought I would see a cousin in a Lemons Race.
I have been looking for one of those impossible to find front air dams for my fiero........and they have them......on lemons beaters.....
The legacy of the Fiero is that nearly everyone who has owned a Fiero loves Fieros.
Love, mes amis, this new series !
I got some great shots of them the ridge a few years ago I loved seeing them run
0:35 Many great people
I don't know them.
There was nothing wrong with the Pontiac Fiasco that a good fire extinguisher couldn't cure.
Oh look! Fellow enthusiasts/masochists! Well done Salty Thunder gang.
Want me one of these.
Which is it: zero entry fee or zero penalty laps if you bring a Ferrari with a Fiero body kit?
I myself have a fiero with an oversized camshaft, and cat deleted. except i daily it. mine is a black 1986 SE 2M6
The on track difference isn't that big at just one second difference, but how does the difference feel in confidence and predictability?
I beg to differ. One second can be all the world faster.
In the world of lemons, one second is an eternity.
A DeLorean would be great. After all, it is the perfect "snorts car"!
I'm sorry, I HAD to be "that"guy.........

What seat do you guys use? We have a couple of papa bears racing in Pittsburgh....looking for recommendations.

Love the Sex Pistols reference...
The early models use 'Vette suspension parts.
Che'Vette suspension parts.' ???
should of held out for the 1988 model, for the better suspension.
epic
I just hope it doesn't blow up at the middle of the race...
it won’t now, they swapped out the iron duke engine. i’m surprised it didn’t when they still had it in there though

Paint it gold.

Install large photos on the Delorean, of Mr. John Delorian doing a few lies,...
I would love to bring a pontiac fierro replica, based on a ferrari to lemons :D ... 500$ my ass!!!
The thumbnail should say: What's it like racing a team of modified Pontiac Fieros and still losing to a stock Toyota MR2
A stock first gen mr2 would not have a chance at beating these fieros. Not Evan the supercharged model
No gull-wing doors allowed ☹️
There was a Bricklin that raced a few years ago however the doors were modified.
Cindy Lauper on the hood tho
Commercial pilot. That's how you can AFFORD to race
