Hey Everyone! Thanks for watching and commenting. We read every one. There has been numerous comments on our use of the Fram filters and we are well aware of their reputation. Because we hate to be wasteful and our boat came with a lot of these filters, we will use them and change them frequently until we are out and will replace them with better filters. Teal is on top of it. Again thank you so much for watching and following our journey to the big blue sea. We'll see you next Friday! XO
As an electrician I really appreciate the quality of your electrical work. Everything looks absolutely great. Once you set sail your boat will be a breeze to maintain. Impressive work all around.
I actually applauded I clapped my hands and said aloud "FANTASTIC". Has to be such a great feeling for all of you. Congratulations Teal, Linh, and Emma. Oh I guess Compass too. Looking forward to the next video.
What an awesome accomplishment. I could feel your joy through the camera lens. I can't wait for you guys to hit the open water. AND it looks like Emma is growing into those legs.
Great video. Bringing those engines back to life after a 10 year hibernation must have been a huge relief to you. Putting the boat thru a few sea trials must have been fun. She moves!! Alright , now tie her up again and start in on the rest of your todo list.
Wow - so many congrats guys - to see you take her out of dock is amazing - you must have been on a huge huge high! - The audio editing was awesomely funny....
I think it is wonderful that you are teaching your daughter mechanical skills. After the next decade of sailing she will be a skilled sailor as well and probably have her own sailing channel!
Adding my two cents worth on the removal of the fill caps will drastically decrease the vacuum you are pulling against. Also the comment about running the engine for a few minutes to warm the oil up helps a lot. I might think about getting one of those small pumps that go on your drill motor. Zatara uses those to great benefit.
The engines are singing like birds in the morning👍. This was one of the most exciting videos that I've ever seen 😂. Reminds of the time when I was young preparing my go-kart engines for a race weekend, every start up was so magical.
Teal, confined engine spaces are much easier when working with ratchet spanners, the better sets have a tiny reversible leaver so that you can still maintain the correct angle on the bolt. Love how you all work together to achieve the goal you’ve set for yourselves, great job getting those engines started and running sweet.
Just one more thing to do , and that is, the next time you take sv basic out for a run, have some one in the dinghy filming the catamaran. that will look so cool to see your boat sailing or motoring on you tube. Gerard. well done everyone.
I’d just like to remind all of you great viewers that it’s possible to REALLY support Teal, Linh, Emma, and Compass beyond these encouraging comments. I joined their Patreon crew a while ago and I can’t believe the feeling I get when they reach these milestones knowing that I had a small part in it. It’s really an amazing feeling.
Congrats! One step closer! I have been watching from your very first videos.... awesome my friend...just awesome! I have been living aboard and cruising for over 25 years and people have watched all my picture postings online and in person for many years... kinda neat now to watch others do the same and live their dreams as I have and still am. Stay positive and don't let negative people get in your head or life.
WOW!!! I am so excited for you guys! It must have been a great feeling to hear those engines roar to life after being silent for so long. I have to say that I love every episode and sometimes the weeks don't go by quickly enough for me to get to another one of your videos. Thanks for all of the content. I am truly enjoying the journey with your family. I admit that I did raise an eyebrow when I saw the Fram filter. But you can change that soon enough.
I cannot imagine how incredible this must have felt guys.It is a testimony to all of you, the patience and meticulous method pays huge dividends.I have just received my 2 new engines and already am nervous as to how they will start and they are still sitting in the box.Congrats .
Sweeeeeeeeeeeet sounding Yanmars! Teal, "you da man". Good job getting her all together and running. I really like that you have Emma involved learning how to use tools and working on the boat. I'm learning a lot watching your channel. Thank you for all the knowledge I've gained in the short time I've been a subscriber.
So very happy for the three of you! I know what a huge milestone this is. It renews your spirit to tackle the remaining items on your list of re-elected list! Nice job. She looks even faster in open water than she did on the dock! Nice job Emma!
I have watched all of your videos and have enjoyed them tremendously. Today Captain you became a legend in my opinion. All the work you have done is first class and todays video tops everything you have worked so hard to achieve. (this is the only video I have watched three times!!!!) You are a master craftsman and I salute you.
If you want an automatic pump, just use a 5 gallon bucket with a lid. Store a couple extra buckets and lids, and you can even store the oil in the bucket until you can dispose of it properly. You just make the bucket airtight with an in and out for air running through a vacuum or shop vac (the oil stays in the bucket and the air goes out the top). Instant automatic pump- usually takes 10-15 minutes to drain 1-1.5 gallons of oil, faster with warm oil. I call it the suckit buckit. :)
We're late comers to your channel but are very impressed! What a project! You have done amazing work and have some awesome help! We were almost as nervous as you were when you started those engines! Wow!
Hello Basik Crew, While Emma was working on the engine. I was wondering if Teal was thinking, can she turn that screw any slower? That takes patience. I just loved how quickly both those engines jumped to life. This was Text book Pure Perfection on engine preparation. The only bad part was the ghastly appearing paint splotches, and rust on some of the engine components. Like all the perfection you've incorporated so far,, how could you let such slovenly work remain on the engines. I know, out of sight, out of mind, Love Y'all. HaHa. I just had to throw some computer chair Quarterbacking in.
Easier if you can run the engines first, but I get you didn't want to do that here. Same feeling I have every time I crank a rebuilt jet ski for the first time. Euphoric!
Teal's being hard on you Linh! get him to get you one of the small round vacuum pumps! You just pump a vacuum into the chamber and let it do the work! Oh and its much easier to pump when the oil is at least warm! Congratulations on the engines starting! I was the same way with my repower!
Just a little Tip.......you can put your fingers on the face of the raw water pump and quickly determine if you have flow. It will get hot right away. Obviously visual exhaust check is prudent.
Hey hey wonderful family....well done again... just some tips for the nest time ...the oil is thick when cold .. a bigger hand pump won’t help much... Next time run up the engine a bit before you take the oil out. Or put a heater under the engine en heat it up quite a bit. ( the oil ...not hot but ...warm other wise you burn your self.) A nice thing to know is that if you pre lube the impeller there is no reason to prime the raw / sea water filter. It will suck up the water by it self. It must do that every time !!!! ( open the seatap lol ) At checking the raw/ seawater filter Lupe the seal with a small bit of Vaseline so the next time you can open it easily and it’s air tight.
Fantastic! I have been watching since the beginning and it's a first seeing the boat out, I finally got to see the whole profile and it surely is a beautiful boat! It's all worth the work once you all are sailing off. It's also an extra bonus that BOTH engines purr just like music! Five stars ain't enough, I would say ten, the most I can count on my hands! Happy Sailing!!
Great jobs on getting the engines up and running and the water cooling system fixed I know that makes you happy and it makes me happy one more job down

If I was to make a suggestion, in the future I might consider Hastings or NAPA Gold filters. Warm oil drains much faster than cold oil.
This Ole soldier is living a dream with you. wish i could be there to help. God Bless
No leaks, no runs, no errors. Can't be any sweeter than that. Not under sail yet but you're finally in motion. Congratulations!
I love the interaction and teaching methods you use with your daughter. It will be knowledge she will be able to use for many years.
As an electrician I really appreciate the quality of your electrical work. Everything looks absolutely great. Once you set sail your boat will be a breeze to maintain. Impressive work all around.

Congratulations Teal, Linh, and Emma. Oh I guess Compass too. Looking forward to the next video.
A great idea to have a trainee engine mechanic on board! Some nail-biting moments there as those engines finally sprung into life. Well done, team.
What an awesome accomplishment. I could feel your joy through the camera lens. I can't wait for you guys to hit the open water. AND it looks like Emma is growing into those legs.
Happy Mother’s Day Linh 🥰

That parody was funny of the "lost audio"
Wow - so many congrats guys - to see you take her out of dock is amazing - you must have been on a huge huge high! - The audio editing was awesomely funny....
When you finished the engine maintenance, I noticed that there were some fingerprints on the top of the valve cover. Ha Ha
I think it is wonderful that you are teaching your daughter mechanical skills. After the next decade of sailing she will be a skilled sailor as well and probably have her own sailing channel!

The engines are singing like birds in the morning👍. This was one of the most exciting videos that I've ever seen 😂. Reminds of the time when I was young preparing my go-kart engines for a race weekend, every start up was so magical.
Congrats guys long time for this moment.

Love the comical voice over, great stuff.
OMG, that voice-over audio was hilarious!
Yup dad does all the "easy" parts.. love it.
well done guys. so good to see SV Basik underway.
Just one more thing to do , and that is,

Tip - Put a plastic sandwich baggie around the oil filter when you remove it, that will collect any remaining oil.
Awesome, well done. All your hard work and attention to detail has payed off. Departure is another step closer.
Just awesome! Such impressive workmanship on your refit!
Awesome! Congrats! You are so meticulous that the lack of double clamping is a great surprise!
You might want to check out the videos on filter brands and build quality...
Oh man that put a smile on my face!! Just brilliant guys!!!
That was the best day. 😀😀

Do a search on UA-cam for oil filter comparison. I used Fram filters until I saw that video.
You guys are doing an awesome job on this boat.
Easier if you can run the engines first, but I get you didn't want to do that here. Same feeling I have every time I crank a rebuilt jet ski for the first time. Euphoric!
What a momentous occasion this was! So many hours of hard work comes to this great beginning. Congrats to you Teal, Linh and of course Emma!
Congrats!!! So happy for you all! Great shots of your home out on the water. I'm excited to seeing her sailing soon. Great voiceover! Made me laugh.

Awesome! Can’t wait to see you guys out there once I get mine going.
great work Emma -massive achievement getting those engines purring.
Congrats Folks ,, That made me smile !
well, look at you three out on the water for a course. I bet that feels so good. The stuff on the hull must have been in shock. LOL
Beautiful video - What an awesome family!. Thanks for sharing.
I am proud for your accomplishments. The dreams you are able to live is very exciting.
Congratulations guys.
I'm sure you feel elated, because I know I did! Great job you guys and gals!

You are an operational motor sailing vessel agian! Whoop! :) So close to your dream.
