Regarding your question at the end... I'm a newbie and because of your video on impulse response (because of a loopback cable) I bought a behringer ecm8000 mic and a behringer umc22 interface :) The price was (all new) ~$150 (I live in Ukraine, maybe prices differ in other countries). Already tuned my car and a friends car and it's actually good. Thanks for that video, since then I have watched so many of your videos and everything I know about measuring and eq and other stuff is this channel😊))))
Hi. I use the Soundman OKM-1 binaural microphone because I have a Mosconi 6to8 Aerospace DSP that measures in stereo. I have the microphone connected to my laptop via the Rode Ai-Micro interface. This DSP is phenomenal in my opinion, it has a time, phase and interference correction function. It does the correction automatically. I recommend checking out this mega solid device with great sound quality.
I did measure both of these. Umik -2 vas more sensetive about 1db, and gave more steady result below about 100jz. Results in normal use, using moving 90deg, or steady normal not moving, was almost the same! Only something small diffrences st 90deg with midrange area. So both versions are enough for rta in car.
FYI for anyone, the 90 deg cal is a generic correction. I've applied it to my dayton and even earthworks. Feel free to contact me if you need help doing this
Got mine literally like 2 days ago. (umik 2) Wanted something quicker and cleaner. I've been using ears for upper timing and acoustic reference anyway (low end timing) Will prob get more tuning sessions in now
I've tried the UMIK-1, the ATF kit (Superlux+t-Bone) XLR Microphone and the UMIK-X. The Superlux and UMIK-1 gives very similar results as for frequencies but the Superlux is better for TA, the UMIK-X array is odd and gives completely different results that are so off of what the other mikes measure, I really don't understand why it's so different...
I bought a UMIK-1 recently as i didnt see the need for a UMIK 2 for my basic tuning. The newer batches come with USB-C as mine has it and the same cable you have. I have also seen some people say that the UMIK 2 is slightly more directional (but still pretty omni) due to the bigger capsule, so that is worth considering if it is applicable to you.
Maybe its a silly idea, but i would love to see the difference between the two mics. Measuring a set of speakers with both of them and seeing the difference in response. Also you could then calibrate the Umik-1 with the measurement from Umik-2

yes umik2 was over priced and cost me way cheaper to get a mic and interface, Ones the price is cheaper i would buy one but its in my list to get for no reson, better to get new umik1 so you can compare it and get 100% test
Show me the part number... dayton has nothing close to it. Audiofrog don't have jbl money to make jbl speakers. So I doubt they make anything for them.
@@rickpena75 backwards, I'm saying Jbl parts houses make AF. and China makes the rest. As for Dayton, more likely Daton is rebranded mini parts. They're always sourcing parts to create new dayton products, and were one of the first places to even sell minidsp stuff. In the end, its just business. who cares.

Thank you for everything you do on this channel
Do some microphone distortion comparison tests with it (H1, H2, H3 for example) vs Umik 1 or other microphones you have.
Literally when you share Nate video in rta group. I just bought the umik2 as well.

UMIK-2. Have not gotten the chance to start using it. Amp rack and A Pillars need to go in car first. Can’t wait.

Have you any experience with the Dayton Audio UMM-6 USB?
Off topic, but if you could get your hands on the MiniDSP c-dsp 8x12DL iut would be awesome to get your thoughts on it

I bought UMIK-1 and it came with usb type-c.
it was updated a little while ago but the original was mini, i got the usb c version too ;)
Ya I got mine almost a year ago and it has USB C.
I would also ask if you could do: record the same speaker with both microphones and compare distortion graphs, do they differ or are they the same?
Yes,I am planning to do that👍
@@RAW-CAt still waiting for the videos :)
@@Adt800 the Musway tweeter I reviewed recently has measurements with both mics.
Is it possible to connect this Mic to the audio interface? If we want to use impulse response and loop back method. Thanks.
No. Use just like behringer ecm8000 cheapest one with audio interface it is enough for time alligment
No, you cannot do that.
i just got that mic lol nice timing
Well.. dang..now I need "2"
Now I need to replace my UMM-6 😂 Do you have an affiliate code?
Minidsp should send you 12x8....I love mine. I gaurarente they will sell a lot after everyone sees your review and testing....Hint...Hint MiniDSP
So, do I tune with time alignment on, or off? ( Newbie to mic, and rta,:)
