As I see it, they couldn't do anything about a guy taking a gun to a Trump rally (and it's probably not even unusual) because of open carry laws. Most of the rally was covered by local police and **we see time and again** local police departments just arent trained to deal with mass shooters.

Secret Service is always, always,100% of the time, the lead agency. Local law enforcement are cleared to even be present by the secret service. So, blaming local law enforcement is outright a lie and laughable. By the way, you don’t have to fire people immediately. But those responsible for that rally that day, at minimum, should be relieved of duty pending the outcome of the investigation. There were not just failures that day. There was outright dereliction of duty. Secret services only function is to protect the assigned asset, Donald Trump. They failed their primary mission and goal. Ronald Row doesn't make the decision on who gets fired or who doesnt. As he mentioned in the hearing, that is handled by the Officer of Professional Responsibility, who has their own investigators outside of SS. This means he cannot make rush decisions and has to allow their office to conduct their full investigation.

This absolutely stinks of egos. The secret service turned down local law enforcement, who offers drones. Why? As a 32+ year law enforcement retiree. I can say, it smells of ego. We won’t take your help, we got it. As someone who served in a local law enforcement capacity at a Trump rally in 2016 and a presidential motorcade 2 times. I have zero issue with stating. Secret Service is always, always,100% of the time, the lead agency. Local law enforcement are cleared to even be present by the secret service. Local law enforcement then takes ALL their orders and details which includes assignments from secret service through local pd chains of command. So, blaming local law enforcement is outright a lie and laughable. By the way, you don’t have to fire people immediately. But those responsible for that rally that day, at minimum, should be relieved of duty pending the outcome of the investigation. There were not just failures that day. There was outright dereliction of duty. Secret services only function is to protect the assigned asset, Donald Trump. They failed their primary mission and goal. Seems the new director lacks the courage to do what’s right. He’s taking his orders from the Biden administration as to minimize blame on the democratic administration.
