When I started using social media to promote my artwork there were lots of things I did wrong - how many of these mistakes have you made? Let me know in the comments if some of this information was new to you!
I did everything. The only thing that worked is to buy followers and likes, that is the proof that people can only recognize what is already recognized fiirst, they recognize the recognition only, not the thing. The whole SM is full of posers and pseudoinfluencers, the bad thing there is that one looses the sensibility for what is not fake in this context. it never leads to some artistical success, it just reflects what you have behiind the scenes already. The thing is just so stupid that i lost followers after i stoped buying likes and starting just posting what is new and good on my terms. We are there to show what we really want people know, not to please people and play strategic games, like waiting to post on sunday at 9 pm, fuck this.... Of course one can do better with some rules, but the problems is that these rules are vital, and something is wrong behind this necessity.
i also dont mean i need likes or whatever, i mean people are just in the wrong game. Its all about sharing information, not mini hearts. Its also true that no one know what the fuck a like means; for some people it means nothing to have 300 likes every day, it is equally frustrating; that is absolutekly no interaction, it remains just a number. This system is only good for public persons and marketing, that is why is frustrating and meaningless to set the same rules for average people. Then thse people try to win the wrong game, like "influencers", and win attention over people who are genial and work hard, having more than a beautiful face.
I always enjoy your videos Michele , because you give actual practical advice which I find to be true from experience in terms of my art experience. However, I'm not very good at social media, but I'm definitely learning from videos like yours.Thank you for creating such valuable content.
Thank you very much for these tips on social media engagement! Very straight forward and reasonable. I make most of my posts on Instagram and auto-share to Facebook - will remember that is a no no. :) I post a couple times a week typically, with what I think is quality content. Yet my engagement is minimal. Your expertise will surely help.
You are welcome Jason, you will have most success if you choose a platform that A. you enjoy and B. your audience uses. It's easy to think that they are on Instagram because it's visual but that may not be true. I do use Instagram but I don't spend a lot of time there because I don't really like it, and because my audience are mainly on Facebook. It's individual though so think about where you enjoy being and where your audience are. Because you can't go full out on 6 different platforms, you just won't have time :-)
Wow that’s great 😀 information. I have been checking out what some of my favorite artists used and it’s interesting 🧐 to note that you are correct that you can’t use & do it all. Most definitely they use at least 2 different social medias and the target 🎯 audience varies depending on the artist. Thanks for sharing this wonderful video of information & inspiration. It has given me some food for thought on where I want to take my art level next. ❤
@@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber Yes I agree with you about Twitter & Musk. I have never used it before. I take to many words to explain/express my thoughts & point of view. 😁
Well, as an artist who draws primarily for adults, it makes networking difficult. Sometimes its NSFW sometimes its not, I know its damaging me, but I respect peoples intelligence and thought that maybe people would enjoy seeing art that follows controversial topics, but I was wrong. People want happy positive affirmations, not Friedrich nietzche philosophy being thrown in there. Everything you are saying is true, but I noticed what people are looking for isn't what I'm giving.
It can depend where you live. For example in London edgy modern art does well, but where I live out in the countryside people want cottages and flowers :-/
Nice video! I like that you go over the seemingly most obvious points . I'm still understanding how Instagram works (it seems easier to get into than Facebook), but not doubting there's other people that expect the ads to get their followers from them without understanding the platform first.
I honestly don't know anymore, I don't think people like me even though I like them. It seems like they don't want any connection with me but will follow me and ignore me even if I interact with them. It really messed up my confidence to the point where I don't want to post or be open, I just don't matter.
Your mental health is more important than any social media platform, if it isn't working, take a break. It's easy to take things personally online when most people are just not very intentional. X
@@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber I agree with you Michele I felt better when I left social media but my mistake was going back again. I'm going to take time away, Thank you
Yes you are right, but they haven't taken off and so using them is not much use and can make it look like you don't know how to use the platform. Of course all social media evolves and this may change...
Well I'm a very unique musician. I follow 0 and have around 800 followers. So maybe it's the one that I dont engage so it shows my posts to less people. That's the only one that even comes close.
You can use auto sharing or scheduling services if you are thoughtful about it, I use Buffer, but just auto sharing from one platform to another is unlikely to work well. Every platform has it's own requirements, the algorithm will push things that don't fit in down. However since I made this video Insta and FB are pretty much the same so it may not apply between that platform. And Elon is currently destroying Twitter for larks... sigh

Yes, I need to have a weed out of my own social media. Musk has pretty much ruined Twitter now!

@@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber thats true. I live in southwest Florida where being an edgy artist is tricky to sell.

Hashtags *are* used on Facebook. Not as often, but they've been incorporated for some years.

i also dont get this thing with regular basis, you mean regular bothering?
Sorry I don't understand entirely what you mean.
sorry, i dont have the experience that SM is to be social , but to be narcissist
Social media can be good or bad I guess.
