The prequels are not under rated they are in reality both great and bad at the same time. Yes there is a lot of world building but some is done well and others are done so badly that its down right racist. Are there a ton of non human races that are explored? Yes. Lets look at some of the new races introduced. You have lazy drug addict Mexican race such as the Gungans. Then you get introduced to the big nosed money grubbing desert Jew known as the Tadarians. Then you get introduced to the big vile corrupted Russian trade federation aliens. Then you get introduced to the bug eyed slaves of India known as the Geinocians. Then you get introduced to the racial stereo type of a German scientist that you never fully get much introduction to them outside of knowing they perform experiments on humans similar to the Nazis of Germany during World War 2. Then you have the Oriental Asian cloners that are focused on being as clean and all doctors just as the parents demand. Basically the world building is blatantly endless racism. Then you have the endless boring politics. There is maybe 20% of the prequels are actual action while 70% is politics and 10% is the worst pick up lines by the creepiest neck beards trying to get laid to ever exist. Then there is the blatant destruction of Cannon material as if who ever made the shit never watched the original source material at all. 2 blatant plot holes that prove George Lucas never watched Star Wars is Obi Wan was the apprentice of Yoda in the original trilogy but turns out he is not the apprentice in the prequels. Then there is the fact that in the original trilogy Leah is the far older sister by several years of Luke but in the prequels they are twins. Also Vader knew he had kids in the original trilogy but in the prequels he never knew Padme gave birth at all. Also Luke was 27 when Yoda died at the age of 900 years old and in the prequels Yoda was 957 years old. Also in the prequels Obi Wan was like 42 but in the original trilogy he is 89 years old when he died 17 years after the original events which is 30 year difference. Then there are other issues as well that make you wonder why George Lucas never watched the original trilogy and it proves George Lucas never made it because he clearly didn't know common shit in the films which blatantly proves he doesn't know shit about Star Wars. Also no one in the galaxy in the original trilogy knows anything about the Jedi even though in the prequels even an 8 year old slave on a desert planet so far away from Jedi that no Jedi has been on that planet in thousands of years yet an 8 year old hears tails of them constantly but no one in the entire original trilogy believes they actually exist and even high ranking government officials consider it to be nothing more than false propaganda of ancient lies told to spread lies. The prequels were just bad and the world building that did exist in them contradicts the original material. I am going to be honest it has far better action scenes but still absolute stupid actions scenes as well. Now the space battles are awesome but the deaths are meaningless. Sure hundreds of Jedi got killed but they didn't have any real meaning because they didn't have names and they were just no names that were targets for droids. At least you were made to care a little bit for the pilots of the original trilogy. JUSTICE FOR PORKINS!!!!! Poor poor Porkins his fat belly weighed him down to where he couldn't fly very well. The sequels make you actually get to know and realistically see and feel the weight of the deaths and made you actually care for them at least a little bit and even the purple haired chick made you hate her but also killed her off in a way that made people have respect for her. Seriously all the characters that you cared about never died except the black man who was about to kill and rob a white man. Seriously lets look at that scene in a different way. The white guy may have been evil to us but if you look at it from what people in that universe knew all they knew is he belonged to a different religion and the black guy was going to kill the white guy and steal the power away from the white guy. There is a shit ton of blatant racism in the prequels and that is why people hate it along with yes as a kid I thought Jar Jar was goofy and stupid and most if not dam near 100% of adults thought he was just annoying and yes Jar Jar was annoying and Jar Jar had more screen time than any other character in all 3 movies. Jar Jar got more screen time than even Anakin. The 1 actual awesome fight was with a guy who was shown for less than 3 minutes total and that is it. Also dear god stop with the hand cutting. Over 500 hands were cut off in the prequels. A shit ton of droids and dam near every main character. Seriously too many cut off hands. Its the repeating shit like that which makes people not like the prequels.

The politics in star wars MAKE IT BETTER. Even as a 13 year old episode 1 was far more interesting than the story of the good guys save the day that was the OG Trilogy. Episode 1 got me into Star Wars because the world was so interesting. It didn't feel like there are only like 10 people in the whole galaxy with simple goals and dreams. Oh wow a smuggler, gee how one note...

I was in a group of first gen fans watching phantom menace and I was the only one of 5 who appreciated the film. The others talked about how different it was but I tried to concentrate on the plot elements and how they tied together what came in the OT. I expect how that very much was the thing.

The first audiences who watched the Star Wars prequels experienced them with years between each release-three years apart-giving them plenty of time to build nostalgia for the originals and scrutinize every detail of the new films. This long gap allowed criticism to grow, with each installment facing heightened expectations and intense nitpicking. In contrast, newer generations can binge-watch the entire trilogy back-to-back, experiencing the full story as a cohesive narrative rather than through fragmented releases. Without the long wait between films, they can appreciate the overarching themes and character arcs without years of discourse picking apart every flaw.

Star Wars I-VI are the true cult classic wonderful movies, the fantastic sci-fi masterpiece that built the legend of the Star Wars universe, the Skywalker saga, Star Wars world building, iconic characters, world expansion and exploration, the diversity of peoples, planets, environments, creatures, and digital technologies revolution, a great galactic epic in six wonderful parts, the story of Anakin Skywalker, the chosen one destined to bring balance to the Force, the rise and fall of a hero who succumbs to fear, anger and the temptation of the dark side, his quest to save those he loved, leading him to become Darth Vader, and how he ultimately redeems himself through the love of his son, the story of a democracy slowly corrupted into a dictatorship, as Palpatine manipulates fear and crisis to seize absolute power, until the fall of the Empire and the restoration of the Republic's order through Anakin's sacrifice, ending with the liberation of all the planets of the Star Wars world, the wonderful Star Wars galaxy, the work of its creator, two wonderful facets that form an inseparable seamless whole of the Star Wars galaxy, the six original movies of the Star Wars universe, the creativity of world-building, the perfectionist visionary genius, wonderful creative vision and incredible fantastic imagination of George Lucas, and Star Wars I-VI will never be beaten.

The old star wars fans had a narrow view about what they thought star wars was the same narrow view that Jj Abrams had cringe fans wanted to tell George Lucas how Star wars should be prequel haters always talked about what they expected the prequels to be meaning they got angry their fantasies and headcanon weren't not real they didn't like like conce0pts that added to the lore because they wanted star wars to be a generic space sci-fi action movies instead of the combination of fantasy and sci,-fi and ancient mythology that it actually is

The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones absolutely are underrated films. Revenge of the Sith, on the other hand, gets plenty of love, and is actually one of my favorite Star Wars movies alongside Episode I. Phantom Menace is slow in pace, and more about politics than character drama, though the latter still exists in the movie. RotS is much quicker in overall pacing, and is in contention for the greatest Star Wars film ever made. Episode II has all of those memes to its name, and the badass Jedi duels with Count Dooku.

I wouldn't call the Prequels "underrated" because despite the Prequels being hated by many they were also loved by many. There were many fans who loved the epic galactic wars and fast-paced lightsaber duels between the Jedi and the Sith in the Prequels. people loved the epic story about what the former democratic Republic was like before it became the authoritarian Empire, that Darth Vader was a heroic warrior before becoming a ruthless warlord, two superpowers tricked into fighting by a dictator in the shadows, the war between the biologically built clone soldiers of the Galactic Republic and the mechanically built droid soldiers of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the story of the galactic warrior monks the Jedi when they were in their prime, the expanded stories and lore to the background of the characters especially Anakin Skywalker.

Eh…if anything…they are a little overrated nowadays especially Revenge Of The Sith.
Maybe 10-15 years ago…they were underrated, but nowadays almost every Star Wars fan likes them and at least ranks Revenge Of The Sith in their Top 3 favorite Star Wars movies (usually ahead of Return Of The Jedi, which just doesn’t at all make sense to me, but whatever).
I think if anything…despite how iconic the OT is, it’s become underrated by people my age (those that grew up in the 2000’s) and I often read comments online about how boring the original Star Wars film and The Empire Strikes Back is “by today’s standards” which is just stupid because one say the same exact thing about the PT.

George just took what he saw was going on in the gulf war and used Star Wars to make surface level commentary about power and corruption in government. There is nothing particularly clever about how Palpatine acquires his power and as a result there's very little to take away or think about.
These are commercial kiddy movies with ill fitting social commentary that actually end up having less interesting things to say about good and evil when compared to the simple fairy tale storytelling of the OT

George Lucas’ Star Wars prequels are a pure masterpiece, a magnificent, exciting and incredibly rich work that has greatly contributed to the story, universe, characters, lore and mythology of Star Wars. They are the greatest movies-a thrilling, cult classic trilogy from beginning to end. These are the Star Wars movies George Lucas always intended to make, and they are the best, most complete, and richest of all the Star Wars trilogies. Everything is superb : the deepening of the Star Wars universe and its narrative elements is stunning and engaging. The detailed exploration of the Clone Wars, a pivotal moment in Star Wars history, is fascinating. The period of the Clone Wars is the best era in the Star Wars saga.
The gripping storyline develops throughout the films, with the rise of Palpatine (Darth Sidious) portrayed masterfully. His behind-the-scenes machinations to undermine the Galactic Republic and bring the galaxy under his control are meticulously shown. His manipulation to create a massive clone army and wipe out the Jedi with Order 66 is central to the story, explaining how the Galactic Empire came to be after the fall of the Republic and how Anakin turned to the dark side, becoming Darth Vader. Anakin’s fall, driven by his desire to save those he loved, is tragic and profound. His transformation into Darth Vader is a breathtaking, iconic scene. The connection to the original trilogy is seamlessly handled. Anakin’s internal conflict-torn between his loyalty to the Jedi Order and his desire to protect those he loves-makes his story deep and tragic. Key moments such as his confrontation with count Dooku and his heartbreaking final duel with Obi-Wan Kenobi on Mustafar heighten the drama.
The prequels also brought invaluable depth to the Star Wars universe, offering detailed insight into the Jedi Order, the training of Padawans, the Sith, and Jedi teachings. The focus on the Sith and their philosophy strengthened the dark side of the Force, adding layers of depth and complexity to the saga.
The political aspect of the prequel trilogy introduces a new dimension to Star Wars, with Palpatine’s machinations in the Galactic Senate and the growing tensions between planetary systems, creating a richer context for the events of the original trilogy-the rise of the Empire, the fall of the Republic, the extinction of the Jedi, and the tragic story of Anakin Skywalker.
The expansion of the Star Wars universe is also amazing, with new planets, races, creatures, and cultures. The introduction of Dugs, Gungans, Toydarians, Kaminoans, the underwater city, the Queen’s palace, the Galactic Senate, the cloning facility, and planets like Naboo and Coruscant-all of which are among the best-help create a larger, more diverse world. Iconic locations such as Kamino, Geonosis, Utapau, Felucia and Mustafar provide visually captivating settings for action scenes, plot development, and key moments in the story. The trilogy also gave us legendary characters like Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Padme Amidala, Qui-Gon Jinn, Mace Windu, General Grievous, Jango Fett, and more.
The action scenes and lightsaber battles are some of the most memorable in the saga. Epic battles such as the Battle of Geonosis, the podrace on Tatooine, the Battle of Naboo, and the Battle over Coruscant are iconic, visually stunning, and filled with emotional stakes, involving characters we’ve grown to love. Lightsaber duels between legendary figures like Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, Darth Maul, and Yoda are executed with exceptional choreography, adding visceral energy to the story. The duel on Naboo, the clash with Count Dooku, Yoda’s fight with Darth Sidious in the senate, Darth Maul’s encounter, and the tragic brotherly battle between Obi-Wan and Anakin are unforgettable.
These episodes also enriched Star Wars lore with charismatic new characters, unforgettable music like Duel of the Fates, Across the Stars, and Battle of the Heroes, a fascinating and expansive mythology, and a fantastic cast of talented actors, including Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Samuel L. Jackson.and Liam Neeson.
Natalie Portman is stunning, graceful and charismatic as Padme Amidala, queen and senator of Naboo. She brings strength, determination, badass and courage to her role, evolving from a queen to a senator and eventually into a strong, elegant and determined woman-a central feature of the trilogy and of the entire SW saga.
Ewan McGregor and Liam Neeson deliver a classy and memorable presence onscreen, and their dynamic as Jedi masters is palpable, conveying wisdom and resolve that ground the story in Jedi heritage. Christopher Lee’s presence as count Dooku adds a touch of class, elegance and charisma, enhanced by his Shakespearean delivery.
The Star Wars prequels were the revival of the Star Wars saga, bringing real dramatic weight, political context, meaningful stakes, new and iconic characters, and thrilling action scenes. They vastly expanded the Star Wars universe, making it more diverse and richly developed, with a lore that perfectly complements the original trilogy and is inseparable from it.
These Star Wars episodes are masterpieces that form an incredible whole, a single, exceptional galactic epic. The story of Anakin Skywalker-from his training as a Jedi to his fall to the dark side, and ultimately his redemption in saving his son, destroying the Sith, and bringing balance to the Force. It’s also the story of the Galactic Empire, once a democratic Republic, and Palpatine’s rise from senator to emperor of the galaxy-his manipulation to secure his authority in the senate, create his own Empire, destroy the Jedi Order, and keep Anakin as his apprentice. Furthermore, this trilogy marked a major advancement in digital filmmaking, modern technologies, editing, and special effects, allowing the creation of new worlds, incredible world-building, and the extraordinary narrative of the Star Wars prequels. Like Avatar, it is a vast, rich and unlimited universe that explores new planets, civilizations, technologies, and worlds.
This trilogy is the greatest, more far-reaching, more fantastic, in Star Wars, as George Lucas was able to build his universe exactly as he envisioned it. Without the prequels, the Star Wars universe would not be as interesting, vast, developed, or as exciting and rich as it is today.

Star Wars episodes 1, 2 and 3 are the greatest movies in the Star Wars universe. They are a legendary and essential work, pivotal in shaping the world of Star Wars, representing the best the franchise has to offer in every aspect.
From episodes I to VI, all the Star Wars movies are sf masterpieces, iconic, stunning, incredibly rich, exciting and timeless. These movies remain unmatched, defining the pinnacle of science fiction with the best characters, actors, casting, scenes, universe and storytelling. The depth, the expansion and the sheer creativity of this universe are unparalleled, with its planets, environments, creatures, and civilizations revolutionizing cinema with groundbreaking technology, digital effects and editing advancements.
Together, these two epic trilogies form a perfect, magical, seamless and exceptional whole-an inseparable part of a grand, unified story : the tale of Anakin Skywalker, his journey from a Jedi to the dark side, and his ultimate redemption through self-sacrifice to save his son, destroy the Sith and restore balance to the Force. Also the rise and fall of a dictatorship, showing the transformation of a democracy into tyranny, all set in a vast, sprawling universe that is breathtakingly rich and endlessly creative.
Star Wars episodes I through VI tell the same story, set in the same universe-George Lucas’s singular vision of an extraordinary science fiction saga. Both trilogies are integral to the Star Wars world, two sides of the same galaxy. These two monumental trilogies are masterpieces that have greatly contributed to building the universe and lore of Star Wars as we know it today. They are legendary, exciting, and iconic works of science fiction, the crowning achievement of George Lucas. Six incredible movies that together form an inseparable whole.

Have someone attack Padme on Naboo so Anakin can show off his skills. Make Anakin less whiny and more like Han in the original. Less of a whiny prick and more of a charming and cocky prick, if you know what I mean. We understand why Anakin loves Padme (Natalie Portman? 🥰) we never understood WHY Padme “truly deeply” loves Anakin. Is it his heroism 10 years earlier on Naboo?

No they're not. Underrated by who? Where? RT says that all three of them are above 50% in both critic and audience score.
Again trying to be contrarian for the sake of it

It's underrated because people like Mr Plikket /Red letter Media convinced people theses movie were a complete failure and that Goerge lucas was a fraud the hate towards these movies was irrational critics and UA-cam reviewers nitpicked these films to death they created misconceptions about the films and Lu as that are exist to this day they hated it just because it did things differently and atheism old gen x fans were extremely toxic and unhinged in their petty criticism of the films and then it became trendy to hate the prequels because of the internet totoro get views

Wdym, the prequels got absolutely railed by everyone when they first dropped. Fans of the original absolutely hated it; there are videos you can find on UA-cam of ppl coming out of the cinema going like "I should get my money back" etc, the backlash was immense

@@ocircles738 when it first came out, sure.
but that could have been just a loud minority.
because the films still made money at the box office and the only hard frame of reference for critical and audience opinions says that they're mostly favored.
RT is not infallible, but it's all we've got.

Underrated? What? All I ever hear about these movies in the last several years is how great they actually are and no, I don't agree whatsoever lol but the idea that they are underrated is hilarious to me. Speaking as someone who really dislikes the prequels, it became hard for me to find people who shared my view. If anything the prequels are overrated, but hey, love what you love

George Lucas’s Star Wars prequels are a pure masterpiece, a magnificent, exciting and incredibly rich work that has greatly contributed to the story, universe, characters, lore and mythology of Star Wars.
