That screw had an exposed head. To get it off you could have used a mandrel type pin vice for removing clock hands and turn it. Also could be turned with upside down bent angle brass tweezers. Edit: neither would scratch, and if you want to make sure of that use your CF Bergeon tweezers. Edit 2: I have done some century old wristwatches and with those blued screwed with lobbed of head portions I put some of the steel rod for winding stem making on the oil lamp, yet it up and when it's slightly toasty touch the broken portion that acts as a loosener as the screw cools back down, much like how auto mechanics get seized bolts.
I’m starting to think you drop the watches in an oil bath before your streams…
