I had an old friend.. he showed me a picture of himself and said " I wish I was this man again." I laughed and brushed it off. I just referenced it to he had a beard in the photo. He shot himself a few days later... this was 13 years ago and I'm still crying writing this message. I wish I could hug him again and say I'm here for you. I wish I could say you get over a loss but it I told you that I'd be lying on June 1st 2015 I lost my best friend long time best friend to cancer. Her name was Bambi and she was the best dog you could ever ask for. Remembering her hurts and I tear up talking about her. She had to be put down five days before my 16th birthday. I was going through hell that year so it didn't help. My parents also missed my birthday. We were moving I was dealing with fake friends and I had just started to get clean (used to self harm which I never ever recommend doing as I regret doing that). A pastor's daughter was being a b*tch to me saying I shouldn't be friends with non-Christians like shut up! Those two are all I had left! So on with what I'm saying it's been 6 years since she past and I'm still not over it. I do have another dog we got her thanksgiving 2017 she's the best. I've heard a quote you never truly get over a loss you just learn to live with it. So my condolences go out to you. All I ask is that you look around and if you see a person hurt or sad do something to make their day. Simple actions such as a smile or a simple hello can do wonders.

I was turned onto citizen soldier by a friend not long ago. I’m 27 years old and I got paralyzed when I was 19. I died on the way to the hospital and was in a coma for two weeks. When I woke up, I was paralyzed from the neck down. That happened in 2012. Now I’m moving my toes and even flinching my legs. Whenever I go to therapy or to work out, I have a playlist of nothing but citizen soldier. I’d like to thank you. I attribute all of my success to the songs I listen to when I work out. I’m a fan for life. THANK U SO MUCH

@@Rqvens thanks brother. I have no other choice. But it does help when I go to hospitals. I go around and talk to patients who have just been paralyzed to show them life is still possible.

Hi Citizen Soldier, I lost my grandpa yesterday to a heart attack and it's been very difficult. I have listened to this song on repeat for hours and it has helped me process the pain and feel something besides grief and sadness. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the beautiful songs you make and thank you for everything you've done for me. I love him and miss him and wish I could turn back time just like the song, but I know that I can't. Death is payment for living and he lived a beautiful and full life. It's hard for me and my family, but I know he's not in pain anymore. He's in a better place. Thank you Citizen Soldier. Thank you grandpa, thank you for loving me. I won't forget you and I'll keep you in my memory forever.

Of course this comes out 2 days before the anniversary of my mom's death. She died 3 years ago, when I was 17, from brain death. It was way too soon. We weren't ever as close as we wanted to be, due to some bad decisions. We both took each other's very presence for granted. The hardest thing I've ever done was to tell her it was ok for her to go, right before we took her off life support. Needless to say, this song has me very emotional, but that's a good thing in my opinion. Thank you, Citizen Soldier, for releasing songs that we as fans can relate to. ♥️

I’ve listened to this song several times over the last few days, but I finally registered the lyrics. This song hits close to home. My older brother died in a wreck almost 3 months ago due to head trauma. I haven’t taken it well, I was really close to him and now it’s hard to look at his daughter (which we now have custody over). There’s this whole in my heart, and all I wanna do is let go and join him. I miss him so much, and I wish I could hug him one last time. Hear him say something stupid one last time. Till him I love him, one last time. I can’t though, all I can do is hope God delivers my messages, and wait till I see him again

It's been two and a half years since a dear friend of mine died, and I miss her every damn day. The power of this song encompasses the feelings that I had the day that I found out that she was gone, and in the months following her death.
I begged to God for one more day with her so that I could give her another hug, crack one more joke, introduce her to my (then) girlfriend, and maybe get into a little bit of mischief at work.
She was definitely one of a kind. She had a contagious laugh, mischievous smile, and beautiful spirit. She always had something nice to say about everyone, and was, in a sense, my older sister and role model. It still stings knowing that she's gone.
But now, two and a half years later, I know that her memory lives through the hearts of everyone that knew her. I see reminders of her incredible presence all around me- bright colored flowers in the summer time, beautiful leaves in the fall, light snowfall in the winter, and gentle rain in the spring.
One day recently I stumbled upon this band. I was like "hmm their music is pretty good" so I went through each one and I related to them so much. This has become my new favorite band. I love you guys so much♡

This song is so strong. This song seems to be about a loved one's death, and although the person I love is still alive I have been forced away from them and living without them, after over a year together every day seems impossible. It took me three years to start getting over it and then I got a message from them talking about how badly they had been hurt and this song seems fitting for how I've felt lately.

That makes a lot of sense.. I was wondering if I was the only one. In my case, they’re not dead, but they’re gone forever. In a way they ARE dead, because our relationship is dead. And one day, just as everyone else, they will die. Sooner rather than later in their situation. I loved them so much but I had to let them go.. The betrayal was too intense. It feels as if my heart’s been ripped out of my chest. Like the air can’t quite be breathed in through my lungs.
I knew this person for 10 years. I’m 17 years old, going on 18 in July. That’s at least half my life.. I don’t know how to go on now, I was so used to them by my side. 😔
This is to people who have lost someone to suicide. I understand that. I have never gone through that, thank God. But seven years ago, I lost my grandmother. 9 weeks of her being in and out of the hospital, physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and taking all sorts of medication to help stabilize her after she had a stroke first, and then a heart attack. I have never had another member of my family who understood me like she did... this represents how I felt then, and how I sometimes feel now. I don't want to keep going without her. I'm graduating from high school this coming May... I just wish she were here to see it.

This song is exactly how I feel about my brother. When I was just 15, I was forced to move because my parents got divorced. I didn’t get to stay with the parent I wanted to, but when I got to my new “home” I wasn’t even settled in yet, maybe 2 months after the big move?
My brother died in a head on collision. I couldn’t get back home to go to his funeral. My Mom didn’t care that he died, even though she treated him like her own. My actual bro and Dad were devastated, but my Mom didn’t care. I broke down crying that night, and I still breakdown when I think of him. But my Mom hasn’t mentioned him since that day, when she told me it was only a matter of time, because he didn’t ride his crotch rocket safe.
I feel like if he was here, my life would be different. He could’ve guided me through the hardest times of my life, and given me advice when I was being abused that my Mom never gave me..

@@CitizenSoldier I have actually! I found you guys through Never Good Enough, which deeply resonated with me as someone who's always had a corrupted perfectionist mentality, and as I've come to learn Imposter Syndrome. Working to improve that.
My favorite I would say is Weight of the World because it completely captures those moments where you just feel so overwhelmed and hopeless, and to me it just gives you that edge you need to push back up and keep going.

I lost my dad to cancer when I was 9. My grandpa of natural causes at 11. I'm 27 now. It never stops hurting. But you do grow strong enough to bear it. And one day you will see them again. Death is not the end, only the transition to the next leg of the race.

So, I only just now heard of Citizen Soldier, and I am OBSESSED with this band, but not in a crazy way. Every time I hear this song, I kinda break down because it makes me think of my papa who I lost at seven yrs old, and he was one of my absolute favorite people in the world. I'm 16 now, and it still hurts the same, but I can't stop listening because it's one of my favorite songs, but y'all's music is awesome. another favorite is say goodbye
It hurts living without the light of my little sister. Still, she's able to enlighten me everytime I'm deep in the dark.

Everytime I hear this song I think about a childhood friend that knew for ten years we were forced away from each other for two of those ten years... But right before he was forced away I was the only he had came to I helped him with his suicidal thoughts and depression as he helped me with mine we both had each other's back and when we were ripped apart I was always worried for his well being and though there were times I wanted to just give into my depression and off myself he was having the same issues but we both were fighting to over come everything for each other we reunited again and now he apparently bought a ring for me with the intentions of popping the question to me though that memory haunts me bad I do find myself a nervous wreck scared of being ripped apart from him again but no matter what he is always there by my side. But I love this song and every song so far this band has the best songs.

You never know when you'll last see your loved ones, or when you'll pass away. Make those memories count, that's all anyone has left.
This song hits hard because I just recently lost my aunt to suicide and I really just wanna wake up from this nightmare I wish it was all in my head but it's real and it's so painful seeing her take her life without question I hope she feels better now though

Reminds me of my dad who took his life on 09/16/2013, he was always smiling. Check on your loved ones, let them know they’re appreciated before it’s too late.
My sister introduced me to Citizen Soldier not even 24 hours before taking her own life... This song is how I cope now when I start to miss her

Thankfully for me, such pain like this is not something I quite understand. Not something I can sympathize with, but I have supported many people who lost loved ones. A friend who's girlfriend died in a car accident, my girlfriend who's grandfather died to lung cancer, and for a long time, I was even in the pain of thinking a dear friend of mine had taken her life. She did not, that was simply a nightmare for me that I woke from. But for a lot of people that I know, and so many more people I don't know, it isn't a nightmare, it's their reality.
I try my best to support those people, but emotions are never an easy thing to handle. Once again, thank you Citizen Soldier. Some cannot bear to face this reality, but you show the bold strength time and time again to strike it in the heart, and sympathize with your fans.

The first time I heard this song, my mom was still here. It’s been almost a year since she left us and I haven’t listened to this till now. It has nothing but meaning to me now and I sincerely hope that my mom is in her paradise if she’s anywhere out there at all. And if she’s not, that’s okay, too. She has nothing to worry about now and I’m happy about that much. ❤ Rest In Peace, Mama. I love you.

I feel every word in this song since I lost my Uncle and my Great grandpa who were both like father figures to me since I didnt grow up with a father figure in my life. It was hard to let go for the longest time until I realized they aren't hurting anymore and that they are in a much better place. I miss the extremely it was to early to say goodbye.

Wow... This is one hell of an emotional song. There's so much I could relate to in this song. Citizen soldier... U rlly struck a few nerves in a good way with this one. It's a song that makes you think about the ones that you probably left or lost. These ppl are rlly gifted.
