  • Posted in altruistic tribute to the local bands of South Florida that created the scene. All -- now 11, up from 7 -- "compilation albums" in this series features back-to-back music only. There's no "DJing" or other production elements: it's not a "tape rip" of any show or shift associated with any radio station.
    TRACK LISTING
    Band - Song
Further - Gimme Indie Fox (Tampa, ex-Shadowland on Geffen)
Freaks with Beaks - Pounds and Inches (Boca Raton)
Postface - Two Face Fish Food (local "hit" with Kill Art; see South Florida Local Rock: Album 3)
Pheontic Plumbing - Quackpipe (Deerfield Beach) *
    Gus - Get Well Soon
Vacant Andys - Spork (Dashboard Confessional/Futher Seems Forever related)
Naked Rhythm - Dive (signed to Germany's Massacre Records)
    Collasping Lungs - Headcrack (pre-Atlantic) **
Type Zero - Window to My World (formerly Panic; Am-Boog-a-Lard related)
Left for Dead - Writing on the Wall (Saigon Kick related)
Velvet Revolution - Goodbye Pain (It's Love, still M.I.A) ***
East of Gideon - Blessing in Disguise (Talk of War-related tunes, still M.I.A)
Amazing Grace - Year of the Child (Sister Silence on Album #5)
    * Jake Cline from XS (or was it City Link by then) was a fan; he gave me the tape to get them on the air. Come to think of it, he gave me a Gus tape, as well.
** Collapsing Lungs were AMAZING on stage, be it the smaller Squeeze or Reunion Room, or the larger Plus Five, or even bigger The Edge (the last man standing, only now as Revolution Live).
*** Sean Synder, later of Nectar with Randy Bates of Talk of War/East of Gideon, gave it to me personally. "Can you please play us?" Of course! It was as easy as asking and giving me the tape or CD or CDr (it's how Company Kane and Mind Mural, to name a few, got aired).
    MORE M.I.As:
Yes, after 11 of these "albums," there are more local bands demo/songs I was hoping to find on this batch of discovered, old show tapes. Denied.
    -- Beat the Press -- S/T 1989 -- Paint a Picture, Take the Time
-- Collasping Lungs -- 1991/92, pre-Colorblind (1994) demos of singles Let's Play a Game and Crackerjack (the Atlantic-versions have copyright flags), but we have Headcrack, at least
-- Colour Junkies -- S/T 1990-ish tape with "Do-ing" from Jade, but Chimney Man from that tape is on "South Florida Rock: Album 6"
-- Deloris Telescope (St. Petersberg) -- their Milk the Glory demo 1990
-- Dore Soul -- pre-Bl*wj*b (1993) versions of Breathe, Shoot the Horse, and Full in You
    -- Excessive -- Today (1993) -- Fritz and Eric Durigo's band
-- The Goods -- Play Rip Music (1989) tape-version of I'm Not Average / The Goods (1990) tape-version of Too Good to Be True
-- I Don't Know -- Part of the Miami scene with Quit, as I recall; did shows with the Way and Notch Above Kafka
-- Killing Silence -- Retaliate and Put the Money in the Basket appears (!) but both cut-off as the recording cassette tape ran out (argh!)
-- Kreamy 'Lectric Santa -- Da Bronx Sity Chikn Machine 1995 -- Yeah, there were a couple airplayable songs, can't recall the cuts, though
-- Livid Kittens -- Fuzzed, Drenched and Dripping 1992 tape -- Bliss, Fangs
-- Livid Kittens -- Alone with Everyone 1995 tape -- Deadwalk Hollow
-- Napoleon Solo -- Show at Summers, The Ambassador, UM's Rathskeller
-- Nuclear Valdez -- pre-Epic demos of Apache and Summer
-- Pheontic Plumbing -- Have Quackpipe single, but missing Chico and his Flying Mule, the tape's other airable cut, 1995; miss this tape
-- Saigon Kick -- pre-Atlantic 1990 demo with For the Love of God and What You Say
-- Snatch the Pebble -- Have '93s Shine Your Eye 7-inch single; missing '91s Going Slow and '92s Way
-- Velvet Revolution -- Back in the Red (CD) with It's Love appears (tape ran out/cut off song, again), but have Goodbye Pain
-- Vesper Sparrow -- Have Highway, but missing Shoreline, Don't Give Your Love Away, Come November
-- Wet Flower -- Those two, elusive studio cuts, "Bug Eye" and "Thick Drip," are on the Miami Rocks, Too Vol. 4 artist comp-sampler that also had rare the Itch and Quit cuts
-- All the Bands/Songs "Missing in Action" previously mentioned with "Album 7" are STILL M.I.A
-- Live at the Square Vol. 1 & 2 -- The Washington Square Miami compilations
-- Miami Rocks, Too Vol. 1 - 4 compilation tapes/ East Coast Music Conference sampler
-- Fat Frog Records Compilation CD -- The bassist from Crash Basket who ended up in Dore Soul had a band that was on it; the band F (or was it Capital F) that had a female lead singer and an insane, jazz-leaning, five string bassist that played at A.Js joint, The Crash Club
