- Here's how I got out of a rut and back up on my feet after feeling like a failure.
It took me 5 months to make this video. Here's why. Recently I've been in a rut. Just when I felt like things were going well, things took a turn.

This was a very personal and tough video to make but I hope that it can inspire anyone in the same boat to keep pushing to do what they love. 💛
“Don’t compare your chapter 1 to someone else’s chapter 50” this is something I needed to hear. I’ve been a graphic/web designer for over 10 years and this past 8 months I’ve been going through such an extreme burnout after dealing with a horrific client to the point I had to fire them and ended not receiving payment for the work I did other than the down payment. A lot of hard lessons were learned, but I haven’t been able to bounce back from it. This video overall summed up exactly how I’ve been feeling and the fears I’ve been fighting. Thank you for making this. It’s giving me a lot to process and take into consideration going forward. Wishing you the best. 💖
Im glad that I can in some way help motivate you going forward. We all have our doubts and our fears but I think when we use those and past experiences to fuel ourselves going forward, we can do even bigger and better things. Hope all is well!
The best videos on youtube are like these, where you can sense a feeling of actual connection, these problems are so real and everyone does fall into these thought patterns and it's always helpful to see and learn from fellow people, but oddly enough it's just reassuring itself to see people improving their lives, because it's not easy and we gotta acknowledge that and just support each other through their journeys. Kuddos to you!
As someone in a similar rut: ugh, this looks like one of those videos I'm gonna need to watch without the mute button. Failure is like a broken nose: depending on how you look at it: it's a free nose job.
I just want you to know you changed my life right now! Thank you ! I came on here in search of a understanding! I’m learning again thank you
I understand about being stuck.
While i agree with you about excuses and fear, I'm going to part ways with the traditional advice about just delving into things.
I'm finally at a point where I can start filming my dance ideas.
I'm going to practice a lot for a while until I'm comfortable with my style and editing before I start posting online.
The biggest thing I'm breaking with is I'm going to find a great match to mesh with for a friend or partner, who is there to have fun with as we both do our separate ideas and collaborations.
While I have infinite ideas and imagination, having a loving fun person to enjoy the journey with brings out much in a personality.
These are my thoughts at least.
I'll continue alone until that happens though.
Exactly how I feel now. This video was very helpful. Honestly speaking. Thanks
Im glad u made this. Makes me think about things alot. Im lost and i have no idea what i want and where im going. I think im gonna start going to the gym finally. U described it perfectly, i feel like im waitin the perfect moment to start, but thats just an excuse because i know that moment wont come by itself. Im scared of failure alot and i cant get out of my head sometimes. Battling depression while being in the worst place i have even been and im just 18, its not easy, but ur words touched me. Thank you
It's inspiring to see you making things just for the heck of it
I'm glad I discovered this channel
thank you so so much for this and your hard work
As a designer myself, your first part of the video is so damn relatable to my personal life!! I guess you've described all the fears and challenges I've been experiencing!! Thank you so much for putting your efforts into this video and I wish you best of luck for the wonderful time ahead❤💫
I needed this! Thank you for making this video! I'm struggling with burnout currently, and such content is sooo helpful
very inspirational, thank you
This just made my day!
Thanks for sharing this! It's got me thinking a lot and made more feel much more at ease and just makes me want to ride the wave of creativity when it comes and not worry about the outcome so much!
Incredible video!
Thank you for putting yourself out there and making a video like this with such an important message. I look forward to continue following you on your journey :)
I relate to this up to the 'T'. I am currently pursuing a graphic design degree but I at the moment I fucking hate it and don't know if I want to continue the program after just one semester of it. I know that it could get better if I try to push through but like just like you, I have that fear of failure and anxiety of the thought that I could have used that time for something better like pursuing my hobby which is photography.
Right now I have an internship with a local coffee shop to which I work alongside their creative team with other photographers and graphic designers. The more time I spend with them the more I relies how much I don't want to work a position that brings me so much stress. I mean, sure my position as an intern photographer is stressful but it's nothing I can't handle since I know my craft like I know the backside of my hand. It can be very difficult to battle of want to work on something new and have so many projects left unfinished.
Much needed one... Thankyou for sharing this
One of the most inspiring videos I've seen in a while. Such a great mentality to have. I try to think like this even though there are days where it seems impossible. Amazing work!
Thank you for this video
Aw Ashlie

Ashlie's kid self was so freaking adorablllllleeeee. I got myself a new crush. 💖
Present Ashlie is gorgeous. I love her.
Sick stuff. Trying to figure out what college I wanna go to, and what majors to pursue and stumbled across your channel on Reddit for Cinema and Digital media at UC Davis. I'm much more into video editing, directing, cinematography, etc., but also not sure if I should take that route when picking majors. Experiencing a lot of doubt, I don't wanna get stuck being a highschool teacher or something, I wanna go out and explore the world while make sick films and videos. What helped you decide that this path was the right for you?
Thank u...
This was awesome; the old timey projector breakdown and "without your best gear" breakthrough were my favorite parts. The break in def would've ruined meee
Loved this!! I can definitely relate with being a creator but doubting my creativity. Can’t wait to work with you soon:)
Thanks so much Leah! 🤗
Can I say that I find myself in your story? Damn, almost every bit!
I’m a big believer when it’s about: everything happens for a reason.
RavenClaw forever! 👀
