My Suzuki powered Arctic Cat Jag 340 runs like brand new and really hauls after rebuilding the Mikuni carburetor and installing the correct sized main jet and moving the e clip to the correct spot on the needle. I can't believe a 340 has that much power
I have bought a tm33 carburetor for my bike from the us to Australia, the guy in the us had set carburetor specifically for my bike though I don't think he understands that the fuel in the us is not the same octane as Australia, to cut a long story short bike was running way to rich down with unsteady idle so put a smaller pilot in idles very well with fuel screw 1 and 1/3 turns out but would bog up top occasionally had taken snorkel off and would bog much worse so went one size down on main jet runs ok until I am at sea level than runs lean up top needle clip is in middle position number 3, if you can advice me on what direction is best would be great?
Mine was at 3 but my bike fuel average was crap. Now I set it on 2 let's see what I get now regarding consumption. I can compromise on acceleration. But not on fuel consumption.
I used the same method of popping the clip off. But before watching ur video and i didnt put a fingure on it so the clip flew away. I cleaned my room floor to spanking new to find it 😂😂😬
My Virago XV250 manual tells me the standard position is the "fourth". Problem is I don't know if Yamaha counts the positions starting from the larger bottom or the thin end of the needle. Damn. o.O
There are 5 slots,so 5 adjustments, then there are different diameter needles, needle jets etc. Try to find what stock jetting was and it should be close. You may have a different problem though.
Ash, did you know mikuni and keihin make needles with different tapers for advanced adjustments so I would recommends that is your starting point,or get EFI.
I have a kx 80 and it was bogging and wouldnt come.in to the bands I changed the clip to position 1 and now it only bogs in first and second comes in the bands towards the end of gear two and runs perfectly in every other gear why is this ?
@@motocarib925 I don't think the owners manual has that info. It basically tells you that you bought a quad lol. The repair manual mentions it though. I ordered a rebuild kit and the needle in that kit also has just one groove. Apparently it's this model.
@@roguetactical852 yup... Already done for idle screw and the timing just ok when a low temperature... But on high temperature it become worst... Already fed up with the carburetor... Will find a new carb after this to setup my legend cub 100cc...anyway tq for info bro...
Moto Carib I ride stock I don't really like modifying default set up that way you can move up properly. The needle might have been in the middle I have to check it and hopefully it's the default. The bike was running high RPMs 3rd to 4th gear more low-end torque. The Piston was so hot it almost got stuck. I had to sit for some time idling and bleed the throttle a couple times
Such a nicest way to describe. You could be a good teacher.
Thanks
thank you so much for actually showing how to remove the clip
glad you liked it

Would it be cutting out if it’s to short at high Rpm ?
Hi what size pwk jet would a 155 mikuni hex jet be?
Thanks buddy. Helpful drawing and video
Thank you so much 😀
The carburetor I have only has one position can I take and put another needle in it that has different settings on it
You are angel sent from heaven I had no idea how to take it off I used needle nose pliers, my fingers, and boom I find your video Tha k you soo mucb
It is an old race mechanic trick
What goes in first the white washer or the needle?
I would start with whatever the owners manual says
great, now do I need to readjust the throttle mechanism to get the needle out and back in?

I use another method to pop off clip and it flew away I heard sound where it landed so I found it easily your method is safer
Thanks for watching
What position 1-5 do you recommend the pin to be at for breaking in a new high performance kit, with kei hin carb? I think it came stock on position 1
find out for sure from who sold you the kit
Moto Carib words of wisdom, thanks lol
my mikuni carb was set to 3! good idle but bad acceleration. is it better to put it to 5? im so desperate in tuning my carb. its like its wasted

@@umersohail7335 Reading this when gas prices are 2.40 euros a liter (9 dollars a gallon ish) and fuel consumption is indeed very important 😂

My teacher in tech school called those Jesus clips you finally get it off and it disappears and you say oh Jesus where did it go
Hahaha done same I used a coke can
That's on a 1979 KZ1000E with 4 of the old VM28SS carbs.
Thanks for the clip install tip.... my MAC pliers weren't doing the trick!
thanks
My elevation is at 500 and i have 5 slots for the E clip where should i put it?

One is at the top
Great idea
Nice video... does anyone know how to properly get the needle back in the slide does it go under the clip inside?
Do you mean the plate? if so yes the clip goes under the plate, everyone I have seen has been that way

so where should I position mine as I live and travel at below 2,000ft above sea level?

On a snowmobile if I give it gas slow it's ok if I give all quick it bogs....what's that???
Most likely a dirty carb, don't change anything till you clean it
its needle clip disturbe idle rpm?
no thanks for watching

Say i lost the c clip what size is it?
Go to a dealership and have them fit it for you
I keep reading about this but my needle only has one groove. It's a 400ex. Maybe it's only supposed to but everything I read says they're adjustable.
I would double check the owners manual

For me seems like would be better between 2-3. I don't know how.
I just already install my mikuni carb on my cub 100cc... But on engine idle it is so bad... Why?
Turn the air screw all the way clockwise, not too tight, then turn counter clock for 1.5-2 full turns.
@@roguetactical852 tq bro.. I got nice rpm on 1/4 throttle about 1.75 turn... But still bad on timing idle... It is carb problem?
@@adyzanahmad8565 Adjust the idle screw very slow to the clockwise to speed up idle, counter-clockwise to slow idle. Slide position matters as well.

Clogged pilot jet maybe
I adjusted my e clip to closer and now the clip that hold the needle jet pops off.

Genius!
Thanks I learned that racing snowmobiles in 1977
My clip is not adjustable PLZ help
Wow never heard of one of those
Some can be adjusted with small plastic shims to raise the needle, otherwise you'll need a different needle.
I went from mikuni to flatslide pwk carb
I would start with whatever the owners manual says
I was helping a buddy and the manual (FZR 1000, BDST38) says the jet needle clip position is "5CEW9". What does THAT mean?
Trying to find my default pit bike needle position. It's for gas from the carburetor.
Usually stock from the factory on most bikes is the middle but no guarantee

This is bigger than taking a clip off, you need to talk to a local shop
We’ll explained I appreciate it🫱🏼🫲🏾
